It had been long since Shane had felt so excited, and it would have been even better if the fight would have taken longer.
However, it was evident that his own speed was too slow in comparison to the winged lightning cheetah that was writhing in pain.
Seeing how desperately the cheetah tried to survive, Shane could only sigh. There was no trace of guilt or pity in his eyes because the cheetah would have killed him without any mercy too.
As such, he just waited for the system to announce his victory before he stepped down from the arena ring.
He didn't even throw a single glance at the dead cheetah, and simply tended to his scorched hand.
The break would be two days long, and he just wanted to rest and perfectly adjust his body to the sudden power-up he had received.
After the battles were over Shane noticed something that worked in his favor.
The number of heavily injured combatants that won their fight increased by a large margin.
From a total of 500 participants that advanced, more than 100 were so seriously injured that they would have to be assigned against each other to have the chance to advance to the next round.
Otherwise, they might even succumb to their injuries before they faced of someone, who came out of the previous fight unscathed.
Other than that, more than 30 participants died due to the injuries sustained during the fight that only worsened after the battle was over. The number was a lot more than Shane expected.
The Primordial tournament was becoming bloodier and Shane knew that he had to be even more careful than before!
Two days passed, and fortune seemed to be on his side. He had been assigned to fight one of the participants, who had been crippled, decreasing his combat prowess drastically.
Because of that, Shane didn't have many problems in defeating his opponent, giving him another two days of rest without having sustained an injury.
This was perfect because he finally adjusted himself to the increase of strength he had received.
Shane had taken medicinal baths and dozens of perfectly purified potions. Thankfully, this was enough to soothe his mana vein's pain while nurturing his body, allowing it to adjust slowly to the new state it had attained.
The next round was already the 17th round and Shane estimated that the number of participants had decreased to less than 200.
Every single opponent was the cream of the crop and he felt excited and a little bit frightened at the same time.
Being frightened in the face of extremely strong opponents who killed each other at will was normal, but Shane's excitement overwhelmed the sensation of fright he felt.
Because of that he could enter the arena with a calm mind in addition to the [Hunter's mind] passive skill that helped him too.
As long as Shane made use of his enormous mana, he wouldn't have a problem facing strong opponents, and it were only affinities and a kind of unreachable speed, he had to be careful about!
His next opponents belonged to the Miac race which astonished Shane a little bit.
The Miac race was the sub-race of the Dark Ice elves and known for their Ice affinity that gave them a chance to be born with an ability.
This was rare, but extremely powerful, turning the Miac race into one of the top basic races.
However, Shane's memories about the Miac race were not great.
His mind took a trip down the memory lane and he recalled how the Miac alliance had caused many problems to mankind and other basic races inside the radiant mountain ring dimension.
They had colluded with other races like the Destar, Rapre, and Unadra race and caused a multitude of Overlord beast tides destroying dozens of shelters, only to reap the benefits of a calamity class dungeon!
Afterward, as if nothing had happened, the Dark Ice elves announced the news of the dungeon, only to get more and more races to enter the radiant mountain ring dimension that in turn allowed them to enter the calamity class dungeon.
This had caused a carnage inside a certain floor of the dungeon, but Shane didn't know much about it.
He hadn't really bothered to keep himself updated about the news of it because he had been focusing on conquering the dungeon he was inside at that time.
Nevertheless, the Miac alliance had caused lots of problems, and facing the only remaining Miac in the top 200 was already extremely satisfying for Shane.
His opponent was a spear wielder which meant that he would try to maintain a certain distance from him.
However, Shane didn't even plan to give the Miac a single inch of space.
The oblivious Miac, who didn't know what had made Shane look at him with hostility could only focus on the fight, trying to not mind the cold eyes that stared daggers at him.
When the fight started, the Miac race's participant unleashed his ice affinity to envelop himself in an ice armor before he inserted a large amount of mana inside his spear, adding a freezing trait to it.
Afterward, it charged forward while conjuring several thin, but sturdy needles of ice, ready to attack Shane at any moment.
Yet, only a moment after the Miac had rushed ahead, death seemed to linger in front of it.
Shane's bloodlust-killing-intent had never been so distinct, and the ginormous amount of mana he had released was further enhancing it, intertwining and nurturing it.
At the same time, his Invincible Scimitar was vibrating due to the sheer amount of energy it had been inserted with as every ounce of it was devoured to strengthen the weapon's endurance and increase its sharpness.
Exerting the [Light steps] movement technique by utilizing a huge amount of mana he overclocked it, forcefully increasing his speed as he pushed his feet from the ground.
Deep cracks appeared on the ground where his feet had been standing a moment earlier as Shane had already appeared right in front of the Miac.
His eyes were extremely cold, and the Miac, in front of him, knew that Shane would kill him if he wouldn't react right now.
Shane's speed was by no means slower than that of the Miac's despite his mana purity being lower by a large margin.
However, the Miac couldn't care less about that right now because his life was on the line, and it was as if death was approaching him, walking side by side with Shane who kept advancing towards him.
It was as if the Grim reaper had already marked the young Miac, instilling a sensation of fear he had never felt before.
Despite that, the Miac activated a total of 9 occupational skills at once, draining every ounce of mana within him, leaving him with nothing at all.
Time seemed to slow down and the surrounding temperature hit zero degrees celsius within an instant, only to further decrease at a rapid pace.
A moment later snowflakes manifested all around the arena, only to start swirling around. Moments morphed into minutes as the swirling snowflakes turned into a snowstorm, focusing on Shane as their main target.
Shane could barely envelop himself in a thick layer of mana thanks to the [Mana membrane(lesser)] he had activated in time.
Nevertheless, the freezing cold spread through his entire body, seeping deep into his bones and he was unable to do anything against it except shiver as he grit his teeth.
Neither did he have a fire affinity nor something that allowed him to increase his body to warm up.
However, despite the cold that spread through Shane's body, his heart was thumping wildly, releasing a burning sensation he had never felt before.
Death had never been so close to Shane than it was right now, and he was fully aware of this, but he could only wonder why it was so exciting?
His fright had been dispelled, leaving him with nothing but his fighting spirit and true grit.
At that moment, a familiar system notification popped up, glowing in a faint golden frame which told Shane that the message came from none other than [Artemis' Blessing]!
