Everyone accepted reality differently and it was noticeably shocking for most students to be thrown into it without a warning.
Not only were they extremely weak compared to the Golden centipede King but also its subordinates were extremely powerful and strong enough to kill several students at once.
As such, Shane didn't think that it was necessary to hold a grudge against Mike, who had punched him, or Karl who wanted to blame him or even the dense Valkyries.
Rather than holding a grudge, which wouldn't help him in any way, Shane found that it was better for the three of them to reevaluate their attitude.
When Mike woke up with an aching body, he noticed that Shane was still doing well and looked seemingly unbothered while nobody else cared about his "fault", only for Karl to hold him back and explain everything to him.
After hearing everything that had happened when he was passed out, Mike could only tremble for a short moment before he regained his composure.
In the end, everyone reflected on their responsibility and it was unavoidable to agree that they had applied for the expedition despite knowing that it was dangerous while it was also true that they had wanted to enter the elemental crystal cave to earn more profits.
Facing reality was always scary but Shane could cope with it better than any other student because death was nothing new to him.
He was only shocked for a short moment when he saw that his schoolmates' heads had burst open but other than that there was no overbearing grief as he didn't even know the students personally.
Aisha was slowly recuperating and it wouldn't take long for her to be able to stand up once again, which gave Shane enough time to look through his spatial ring, where a few hundred elemental and several dozen rainbow elemental subterra centipede corpses were stored.
Next to the large carcasses, there was a huge mountain of 100,000 mana and elemental crystals. Having nothing better to do, he started calculating his rough earnings based upon the items he had amassed, as they waited for Aisha to get back on her feet.
Without knowing the exact price for the centipedes, he could only estimate it.
Their carapace was sturdy and had a further protection membrane for elemental attacks, according to their prior elemental affinity, which increased the price.
In the end, their body was also extremely long which enabled a manufacturer to construct multiple armors from a single corpse.
Further estimating their quality, it was noticeable that the variant elemental centipedes with a strong affinity would end up as [Tier-2 (Common)] armors at the worst, while it was more likely for them to turn into uncommon quality armors.
Meanwhile, the rainbow subterra centipedes had the chance to become [Rare] quality armors because of their versatile resistance and durable carapace which would protect someone from most of the beast attacks.
As such, the price for a single elemental subterra centipede's corpse would be around 30 gold coins, or slightly greater, while that of the rainbow subterra centipedes' would cost around 70 gold coins.
This was a shocking price, but, in the end, a normal Expert stage with a mana purity of 60% would be unable to fight any of the stronger centipedes head-on, and it was more likely that they would die while fighting them.
Under normal circumstances, it was already rare for awakened beasts to be worth 10 gold coins, considering that a normal Expert state was able to defeat them.
Now, however, Shane's spatial ring was filled with several hundred of such corpses which belonged to the Valkyries and were not his, to begin with.
Pondering for a moment, he asked himself if there was a way for him to be able to keep the corpses without decreasing his profit.
Even if Shane knew that it was rude and morally not correct, his need for gold coins was manifold higher than anyone else's, even if he were to disregard a perfect foundation.
As such, he had to act accordingly to take care of his tamed beasts in the best possible way.
Suddenly a simple, yet somehow perfectly suited idea flashed in his mind, and Shane jumped up from the ground. He walked towards Aisha eagerly, who noticed him.
Since he had gathered the corpses he was eyed apprehensively by the other Valkyries but that was not something he bothered around at the moment, as he approached Aisha.
"I have something to discuss with you about the elemental crystals that we mined in this cave if you're fine with this."
Aisha was still not in a condition to stand up much less depart, and she looked at Shane with weary eyes not knowing what he wanted to do now.
"I don't know if anyone has already figured out a way to sell the elemental crystals but I'm already in contact with a merchant who gave me a decent price list for the elemental crystals. In my opinion, it's hard to get a better price and I would offer everyone an average of 22 silver coins per crystal to anyone who is willing to sell their elemental crystals. ."
When Shane said this, Aisha lifted her right eyebrow before she frowned, thinking that this price was definitely not low but also not extremely high, when she thought about the possibility that they might have mined [common] or [uncommon] quality elemental crystals that were worth a fortune.
This reaction was what Shane had expected and he smiled lightly, as he elaborated further
"Whether this price is fair or not is definitely questionable for both sides, because I don't know the number of high-quality crystals mined by everyone here. If the majority of elemental crystals has a trash quality which is highly likely, this offer might as well force me to use my own money to reimburse the others!
Either way, this shouldn't be something others should care about because it's my decision if I want to use my own fortune or not, right?
However, I doubt that anyone can receive more than an average of 18 silver coins for their elemental crystals without connections, and even that should be quite difficult, right Aisha? Even with your connections, it should be difficult to receive more than 22 silver coins per crystal, considering that it is possible to have only trash-quality elemental crystals!
Aisha nodded her head in response. She was completely aware of how valuable elemental crystals were because she had already used her connections to figure out a rough price for them.
Inwardly, she had to agree that Shane's offer of 22 silver coins was tempting as she would at most receive 20 silver coins on average from the merchants she knew.
This, however, caused her to wonder who exactly Shane's connections were, and which race they belonged to.
Nevertheless, she didn't ask him this because nobody in their right mind would disclose their merchants' information if they wanted to continue receiving profit.
"I'm fine with your offer….You probably want me to announce this offer to the others to feel more reassured that they won't be betrayed by you, huh? Well, I can do that but I won't lend you any money if you have to reimburse someone when you make a loss!"
Nodding his head, Shane could only give her a faint smile because it was almost impossible for him to sustain a loss with the contract he had with the Elus merchant.
Shane was fully aware that this was a win-win situation that would enable him to solve his financial issue for the next few months, or even years if he were to be a normal cultivator.
