Three days had passed yet Shane was still as clueless as before. He had already messaged all the merchants of other races that even remotely had something to do with the particular dimension he was looking for.
Shane even went a step ahead and bothered citizens belonging to all of these races by creating several dozen threads on PrimWeb. He only stopped after he received a notification from the system, asking him to stop spamming the forum threads excessively.
However, he felt restless and wanted to figure out more before he had to take care of his other matters.
His world seed was still doing and hadn't absorbed more than he and his aunt Kia had estimated.
As such, there was no issue with that!
Unfortunately, even distracting himself from the [Mythic] mission by practicing the Slaughterer's Path technique or hunting beasts was useless. It only helped him in staying calm for a few minutes before his train of thoughts was once again drawn to his well-hidden target.
He would have told about his mission to his aunt and uncles but they were currently busy acquiring mana stones for him. He didn't want to bother them by asking for more help in finding an extinct beast if that was even possible in the first place, to begin with.
Furthermore, this mission had an unlimited amount of time, and as such was less important than acquiring mana stones. He had to prioritize his world seed and its growing demand for mana over everything else as he couldn't risk letting it wither!
However, this didn't mean that his options were limited to just his extended family. He checked with Aisha, Frer, Aimy, Olivia, the Valkyries, and even Leon Rar, if they could get any further information through their friend circle and connections about the Lesser Starlet foxes.
Unfortunately, even that seemed to be useless and nobody could really help him.
The only useful information he received was the news about a dead Lesser Starlet fox found 700 years ago.
This was already more than the Primordial Library was aware of but there was still no use to it.
He needed to find a Lesser Starlet fox that was still alive…
That was everything the others had found out and Shane's frustration resurfaced as he pierced his curved longsword through a late-Elite stage bull-horned jackal's throat.
Only now did he realize that his connections were of no real use to provide him credible information.
His aunts and uncles were his biggest connections but Shane figured out that it would be his doom once they got busy with something else.
It was not unusual for someone to be unreachable for several months or even years.
As such, he had to figure out a different way to tackle his current issue.
Other than a few humans, his own connections were limited to a single merchant of the Corvi race whom he had conned a little and the Elus race that owed him a favor according to the Elus merchant he was in contact with.
However, after pondering about it for a moment, Shane realized that he had only gained a small favor from the Elus-race and he couldn't ask for something big either way.
With that in mind, he decided to utilize the next few days to his best capabilities, before his world seed's mana absorption intensified.
His uncles and aunts might be able to help him, but their connections wouldn't simply hand out such precious information.
It would probably cost a fortune only to get more information, which didn't mean that Shane could go to the Lesser Starlet foxes' habitat unhindered and catch one of them.
Even after carefully thinking about all kinds of possibilities, Shane was unable to find a better solution than using the small favor. He was inclined to ask the Elus race for help to find out more about the Lesser Starlet foxes and their habitat and hopefully also learn about a particular, neutral dimension that he could enter without any issues.
At least, that was what he hoped for because it was the best outcome he could receive for now.
He was not overly concerned that he had to use the only favor received from the Elus-race because he never knew when he would ever need a 'small help' from another race.
If he were to request a huge favor when he was inside the Intermediate-Dimensions, they might as well curse at him straightforwardly.
As such, Shane wrote a detailed message about his issue 'to find and catch a Lesser Starlet fox' for a certain mission and that it was known as an extinct beast. After that, he sincerely requested their help, without mentioning the favor because he didn't want to come across as rude and arrogant.
The Lesser Starlet Fox was like a blank paper to him with only a few words written on it to describe its appearance, affinity, strength, and personality.
The other, more important information was unclear to Shane but he told the Elus merchant everything he knew which ended up in him writing a very long message.
'Please be able to help me' He pleaded in his mind before he sent the message.
He closed the system knowing that he had done everything possible to find out more about the Lesser Starlet Fox.
He could venture into all the Basic-Dimensions that suited the likes of the Lesser Starlet Fox and search for it without a plan. But, that was the last way he would resort to if he found no other solution to end his misery.
Furthermore, he couldn't just start searching through unknown dimensions with his current situation.
His world seed's mana absorption was too obvious and it needed less than a month to blossom as long as he had enough mana to provide.
Other than his mana absorption there was the problem of the shortage of mana supply in the Basic-Dimensions. It would suffice for slightly more than two weeks before he would have to rely on his family to help him.
In the end, it would be stupid for him to start searching for a Lesser Starlet fox right now. He could at most do so once his world seed had blossomed because the mana consumption would be reduced drastically!
Shane didn't expect to receive a message from the Elus merchant soon because he knew that the merchant would have to relay it to his superior.
After he got in touch with the superior, he would probably request the Elus race's support in exchange for the favor they owed him..
Maybe the outcome would be different than his expectations but every path he could imagine would take a long time to give him some result.
In the end, his task was not easy to solve, but when he received a message from the Elus merchant only a few hours later, Shane was a little baffled.
[Sir Orus, a 'Lesser Starlet Fox' it is? If I am allowed to ask, what does Sir want to do with the placid beast once it is caught?]
After he read the message, Shane didn't know why, but he felt as if the word 'placid' was underlined and had a special meaning for the Elus merchant.
This made him curious because it was rather uncommon for most races to care about unknown beasts!
With that in mind, Shane couldn't help but see a tiny ray of hope that was far away from him. Replying to the message, he wrote,
[I just want to complete my mission. If the Lesser Starlet Fox doesn't hold a grudge after I catch it, I will let it free! The mission I have is much more important to me than needlessly killing a peaceful beast!]
Shane didn't want to exaggerate but he really felt that it was unnecessary to kill a peaceful beast in most cases.
For what it's worth, he wouldn't hesitate to kill almost any kind of beast, but Shane also felt that the Elus merchant had wanted him to expressly state his intention of not harming the fox before anything else.
However, now that his ray of hope had appeared out of nowhere, Shane's mood soared to the peak, only to plummet when he didn't receive another message from the Elus merchant.
His heightened mood hit rock bottom when five days passed without any news of the Elus merchant. Shane let out his anger by practicing the [Slaughterer's Path] technique that reached the basic mastery.
At the same time, his bloodlust-killing-intent was still fusing, still trying to one-up each other.
