Shane saw how the Greater Elementals used their utmost efforts to find his and Ilya's position by rushing through the combat grounds.
He couldn't help but feel that it was rather advantageous to him because the Elementals seemed to be unable to release their mana to figure out his current position.
As such, Shane didn't even have to adjust the world seed's mana absorption which he would have done otherwise.
Changing his title to the [Berserk-Hunter(F)], he exerted the title's skill, [Berserk], the [Slaughterer's Path] to envelop his whole body with bloodlust-killing-intent and a small margin of the world seed's stored mana to achieve his most powerful state.
With that, he charged towards the Greater Elemental that was the closest to him before he lashed out with his bare hands to grasp its mana core.
When he came in touch with the mana core, Shane's finger stiffened for a moment before he heard the Greater Elemental crying out in pain as he flung him in the air.
He jumped high and kicked the mana core with all his might which flew straight out of the arena.
Landing on the ground Shane realized that he was too slow which forced him to change his combat style directly.
As such, he decided to adopt a cruder and rougher combat style.
His hands turned into a fist and he landed a solid punch on the mana core of the next Greater Elemental. Shane noticed that the impact was enough to distort his opponent's senses, making him unable to fight with full combat prowess for the next few minutes.
This told Shane that the mana core was the Elementals weakest trait.
If he wanted to make his opponent unable to fight back for a few minutes, he had to use his fist instead of a flat hand.
Previously, he had held back because he was scared to shatter the Greater Elementals core but it was more endurable than he had expected it to be.
As such, he pushed his feet from the ground and his speed accelerated once again.
Using all his might to defeat several more opponents within the 10 seconds the [Berserk] skill lasted, Shane felt his body overwhelmed from sudden exhaustion caused by the second elapsed [Berserk] usage.
His title's skill could only be used three times a day and there was only one usage left which he didn't want to consume initially.
However, Shane also noticed that a single, normal punch at the Greater Elemental's mana core, without an increase in his strength by 10%, was not enough.
Thus, he was forced to use the third and last [Berserk] skill from his title for the day.
Even if he would be extremely exhausted afterwards, Shane wanted to finish off the Greater Elementals before Ilya's unique thick, black mist would dissipate.
He circulated mana through his body vigorously to accelerate his speed further, which allowed him to approach his opponents at a blinding speed before he punched at their mana core.
Afterwards, he swiftly disappeared from their sight before his opponents even noticed that something was off.
Less than 10 seconds later, he emerged in front of the Greater Thunder Elemental whom he punched with all his might to knock him out.
There was only one Greater Elemental left which was a Wind elemental that had an eagle form. He was flying above the black mist, manifesting wind blades to shoot at different positions, following the noises Shane created by knocking out his teammates.
Right now, he was in a tight spot because he didn't have any time left to defeat the last Greater Elemental without waiting for it to approach him. While the Elemental in the eagle form didn't want to come closer to the ground in fear that it might be taken out like every other Greater Elemental.
Suddenly, Shane got an idea as the last second of the [Berserk] skill was about to elapse.
He emerged next to Ilya who entered the center of the arena after she manifested the thick, black mist.
Grasping her tightly, Shane could only issue a faint "Sorry, but now it's your time to shine!" before throwing her into the air with all his might.
Elementals were extremely light as long as they didn't manifest their liquefied body out of unique materials, and only their mana core was slightly heavier.
Thus, Shane's throw catapulted Ilya who was baffled by his sudden move, as she found herself right next to the Elemental eagle who screeched in shock.
Regaining her senses after the short moment of shock had passed, Ilya manifested several spears of light and darkness which she fired at the Wind Elemental to take him down.
At the same time, the thick, black mist started to dissipate, revealing the defeated Greater Elementals with Shane gasping for air in the center of the arena.
'Whose f*cking idea was to fight against 20 Greater Elementals at the same time????' Was what he thought and he could only glare at Ilya who was slowly descending towards the ground as exhaustion overwhelmed him.
'Can I sleep now?'
Pondering if it was alright for him to sleep now or not, Shane could only sigh deeply, telling himself that he should stay awake for a bit longer.
Using all his remaining strength, he took out a purified replenishing potion from his spatial ring to gulp it down.
There was an important difference between purified potions and forged ingots when compared to common potions and bars.
While there were fewer or no impurities within purified potions, normal, commonly found potions would accumulate impurities within one's body and decrease the consumer's mana purity by a minuscule margin.
This was not something Shane wanted to face currently.
Instead, he would rather pay a slightly higher price for purified Tier-1 potions.
They were slightly less effective than Tier-2 potions whose price was the same as the purified Tier-1 potions. But Shane felt the difference in efficiency was not large enough to convince him to purchase bad quality Tier-2 potions with impurities!
Not only was his body extremely tired but his mana veins were also screaming in pain. Shane had strained them twice by transferring a terrifically high amount of mana from the world seed to his mana pool which he used to increase his strength, speed, and stamina by a large margin.
If it were only for a bunch of seconds, his mana veins wouldn't be burning like they were currently doing, but it had been for more than half a minute in total which worsened his constitution.
Shane knew that he had to recuperate for a few days without excessively using mana, otherwise, he might receive some serious injuries which he wanted to prevent.
Nevertheless, Shane thought that everything had been worth the effort. Not only had he been able to test his current limit that was much higher than he initially expected but his relationship with the Emperor and Empress should have strengthened by now.
He had helped them by using his utmost efforts and based on the little time he had known them since visiting their planet, they didn't seem to be irrational.
It took him every ounce of his energy to keep himself standing on the ground with shaky legs as his whole body trembled. He could only look at Ilya with a weird expression as he remembered the thick, black mist which caused him to ask
"What exactly was this skill you used? The mist could even nullify most mana attacks!"
Ilya stared at Shane who was shaking like a leaf caught in a light gust of air. She couldn't help but chuckle when she saw him before she answered
"This 'thick, black mist' is my [Darkness-Domain], a gradeless and qualityless skill whose strength is determined by the amount of mana you supply it with!"
