Chapter 217: New Ruler

Shane noticed that he had to let Umbra fight this battle alone and that he shouldn't intervene which caused him to jump from Umbra's head.

He landed in the Nightflower field, as his feet sunk into the muddy soil which forced him to envelop mana around them. He then was able to distance himself from the fight that destroyed the surrounding Nightshade flowers.

Sighing deeply when he saw this, Shane began to wonder if they were still worth something.

Their effect might decrease when damaged, but that would only decrease the resulting potion's quality. As such, collecting them after Umbra killed the Colossal Darkness python would be better than letting them rot.

He didn't even question if Umbra would be able to kill the Colossal Darkness python. The reason for that was obviously the difference in their strength that was monumental.

The Colossal Darkness python might be a beast most common peak-Expert humans might not want to face but that was different for beasts.

Umbra's cultivation stage was a few ranks higher than the Colossal Darkness python's, while his affinity was stronger too. Adding the [Limit Breaker] title that increased Umbra's strength, mana circulation, and intelligence by 10% while decreasing his mana consumption by 10%, Shane couldn't help but think that it would be a shame if Umbra would even receive serious injuries.

Because he was not worried about Umbra, Shane was able to observe the fight from a neutral standpoint.

However, this didn't mean that he didn't pay attention to his surroundings as he felt that several thousand pairs of eyes stared at him intently, unsure what the new beings that had suddenly arrived out of nowhere, wanted to do to them.

Shane felt no desire to kill every single snake within the Shadow-snake valley but should need to arise, that wouldn't hinder him in eliminating every obstacle. He planned to pluck all Nightshade flowers and their roots without damaging anything in order to start experimenting with the Hidden Paradise and his plan to create a farm within.

He always planned for the long term and Shane thought that he would at most leave a few roots from [Trash] quality Nightshade flowers. If it was possible to duplicate Nightshade flowers with enough nutrition and mana as he hoped, Nightshade flowers with a bad quality would only take away space he required for higher-quality flowers.

On the other side, there was enough space for everything within his world as long as he enlarged it enough.

In the worst-case scenario, he would still be able to upgrade everything once again from scratch, even though it might cost him more than a fortune.

However, all of these were unnecessary thoughts compared to the fact that he had yet to acquire enough Nightshade flowers and their undamaged roots to experiment with.

For that, Umbra had to win against the Colossal Darkness python, which was currently trying its best to flee from Umbra.

Somehow, the sight was hilarious to look at.

Only a few months ago, Shane had to use his utmost efforts to flee from the Colossal Darkness python, barely escaping its fangs.

Now that Umbra had evolved, he was able to casually fold his hands and sit back to dominate the Colossal Darkness python as if it was a pushover.

His reptilian friend was relentless as he manifested several darkness spears in succession, not giving the Colossal Darkness python a chance to evade every single one of them. The python desperately tried to save itself when it sensed that something gigantic had appeared behind it.

Umbra was not only stronger in his strength and affinity but he was also faster and agile.

Enveloping his whole body with darkness transmuted mana allowed Umbra to vanish in the darkness. It shocked Shane for a short moment before he was able to sense where his companion was roughly at.

Umbra reappeared again, and his fangs pierced into the Colossal Darkness python's tail. The python's cry of pain reverberated through the valley as Umbra held its tail and swung his head around, forcefully halting the python's advance as it was flung through the air like a weightless feather.

Shane's eyes widened in shock as he witnessed how powerful Umbra had become.

It was not like he hadn't expected Umbra to be strong, but the way he had flung a beast around with a length of around 40 meters and a weight of multiple tons like it was a leaf caught in a whirlpool, was a testament to his friend's might.

"Damn…" Shane subconsciously exclaimed.

However, Umbra didn't seem to be done yet. He loosened his fangs out of the Colossal Darkness python's tail by tearing out a large chunk of flesh which caused a large fountain of blood to gush out as his opponent writhed in agony. Umbra then manifested three large, compressed darkness spears in front of him.

Those spears had a long barb at their tips which caused Shane to eye them weirdly as Umbra shot them at the large, pained python.

The spears pierced through the Colossal Darkness python's thick scales and lodged into its flesh, but strangely the darkness spears didn't dissipate as it was normally the case for mana-based attacks.

Rather, they stayed rooted in their target as Shane saw that the darkness spears were connected to Umbra with a thin thread.

Releasing the majority of his mana at once, Umbra forced a reaction to the barb at the tip of the spear, where he inserted his mana into.

The moment Shane saw the thin thread between the three compressed darkness spears and Umbra, was when he knew that the whole fight if it even was one, to begin with, was over.

The barbs, injected with a large margin of Umbra's mana burst open, tearing out large chunks of flesh which caused the Colossal Darkness python to let out a deafening roar as it tried in vain to fight for his life.

However, before the python could even attempt to launch an attack, Umbra emerged next to the python's head to pierce his fangs into it, ending the Shadow-snake valley's lord's life.

When Shane saw that it was over, he approached and asked Umbra if he was injured somewhere which shouldn't have been the case.

Of course, nothing had happened to him and Umbra couldn't help but roar in pride as he became the new ruler of the Shadow-snake valley.

Everyone in the surroundings heard Umbra's roar, knowing what it meant but nobody retaliated or answered him.

This was as expected and thus, Shane couldn't help but smile brightly at Umbra whose pride increased manifold.

Initially, he had wanted to start with the next step of his plan right off the bat but it seemed like his companion was relishing the victory he had obtained.

Meanwhile, Shane approached the dead corpse of the Colossal Darkness python which he stored inside his spatial ring after taking a look at its condition.

The Colossal Darkness python's corpse was worth a lot! While the fangs were extremely durable and sharp, one could manufacture several dozen scale armors out of its scales.

Other than that, its flesh was nutritious, while its organs were valuable to create certain medicines.

As such, Shane couldn't help but give Umbra a thumbs up which caused him to roar out once again.

After that, he took a look around the Shadow-snake valley as he mumbled

"I should probably start collecting the damaged Nightshade flowers in the center…"

When Umbra heard this, he thought that Shane was lamenting how many valuable Nightshade flowers he had destroyed in the fight which caused his mood to plummet.

However, Shane just caressed his head, as a way of saying "well done" as he thought of a way to collect everything at a rapid pace without the need to pluck every single Nightshade flower with its roots one after another.

Furthermore, Umbra transmitted hm the thought that it would be nice to let a few Nightshade flower roots within the Shadow-snake valley for the shadow snakes and shadow pythons to survive and keep advancing without too much of a hindrance.

Shane just nodded his head as he got an idea!

"There should be several thousand shadow-snakes and pythons within the shadow-snake valley, right? Tell them to uproot the nightshade flowers and bring them to us without injuring the roots. If they follow your instructions we will....leave the majority of roots behind!"

Ordering Umbra, as the new ruler of the Shadow-snake valley, to do something made him feel weird.

However, he did as instructed as he roared before he started to hiss out several times in succession.

Shane thought that his idea was the best way to receive most Nightshade flowers and their unscathed roots in a short amount of time. This would be the most efficient way and leaving most[Trash] quality Nightshade flower roots behind was not really something he was sad about.

He only required a few [Trash] quality Nightshade flower roots to experiment with duplicating them either way. Meanwhile, he would try to plant the others within the Hidden Paradise after he purchased high nutritious soil!

Only a few moments passed after Umbra voiced out Shane's instructions before the first few Snakes pierced out of the soil, visibly reluctant to give up on their precious Nightshade flowers.
