Shane grew curious when the words 'Space door' fell on his ears because it was something he wanted to obtain quite soon.
Even more so, after he almost died in order to complete the [Mythic] mission a few days ago!
If he were to die, the Hidden Paradise would crumble too, and it would be extremely difficult to save the crumbling world.
As such, everyone inside the Hidden Paradise would die along with him.
The Old Emperor noticed Shane's interest, and it was not difficult to comprehend why Shane was interested in Space doors that had a wide range of usages.
"I can tell why you're interested in space doors, but don't purchase those from the Primordial shop! They're overpriced and for your purpose, their variability is too wide! You just want to take everyone within your world to a safe place, if something were to happen to you right? If that's the case, purchase two small doors that have been fixed to each other!
As such, the price will be reduced to a negligible amount.
Most races use the Dimension Portals for travel purposes either way. With that in mind, why should space doors be too expensive? There are only a few reasons like traveling through space ships or to planets without Dimension Portals.
However, in that case, most races purchase space doors you can dock to each other, and not the two fixed space doors I was talking about!"
Shane was glad that Kalur was so quick-witted which saved him lots of time, and the provided information was extremely pleasing to hear!
'Not as expensive...that means?' He looked at the old Emperor in doubt, and it was crystal clear what Shane thought as Kalur said
"If you find the right merchants, fixed destination space doors that can only locate each other can be purchased for a few thousand platinum coins. That is for new ones, or space doors you can move around with.
In your case, you might not even need new ones. In the end, you just need to protect everyone, and already used ones are not necessarily worse, just not new.
If someone with enough knowledge takes a look, there shouldn't be an issue!
Furthermore, the most important item that makes everything for space doors possible, is the space prismar. There are certain complex spatial affinity runes inscribed on it additionally which makes everything work.
This space prismar is everlasting, and can only be destroyed by force...by someone at the peak of the advanced dimension...after assaulting the prismar for several hours!
The new space doors have several space prismars to activate the space door quickly, but that's not the case with older, used ones! Nevertheless, it can stay activated for as long as you have enough mana or you might have to wait several seconds to activate it!
If you're in an extremely dangerous situation, you can tell everyone within your world about it, and they can flee, even if it takes a few seconds to activate the space door.
On the other hand, if you die quickly, even a new space door won't be able to do much!"
Shane was baffled by the amount of information he received from the Old Emperor, and it was easy to summarize everything he had heard so far.
'Purchase an old space door because a new one won't do you any good in your current state! Talk to someone knowledgeable about your requirements and everything will be fine!'
With that in mind, Shane could sigh in relief. If a set of fixed destination space doors cost around five thousand platinum coins, an old set with only one space prismar would be much cheaper!
Yet, even one thousand platinum coins would mean that he had to save around one million gold coins because the conversion ratio was 1:1000 i.e, one platinum coin was worth around 1,000 gold coins!
Shane was happy that the price was not as high as the space doors he had found in the Primordial Shops or the system's shop, where the prices were even higher. But, the price for a used fixed destination space door with only one space prismar was still much higher than he had expected!
As such, he had to set aside the idea of purchasing one, until his artisan group's foundation would become more stable.
Shrugging his shoulder, Kalur could only smile as he said in a melancholic tone.
"To be honest we have one set of fixed destination space doors, exactly like you might need, but we don't use it right now….similar to the human race, we tried to allow one of our most prodigious Elemental to purchase a world seed...however, we had accumulated all funds but failed to take into account the fact that the [self-earned] discount included the required amount of mana for the world seed to blossom….we had already prepared everything, only to fail miserably….millions of diamond coins disappeared into nothingness, just like that."
'Oh sh*t! Did I somehow reopen an old wound?...' When Shane heard Old Emperor Kalur's disheartening experience, he felt that showing his world might be a mistake.
However, Kalur seemed perfectly fine after a short moment as he said,
"We learned from our mistakes and never tried to do something like that again. Even if Ilya could procure enough resources to purchase a world seed if she were to remain at the Expert stage for a few years, she won't have much use of it!
The Elementals with non-combat-oriented occupations are pickier than the combat-oriented Elementals because we have already established a huge organization that governs all artisans.
They don't have to rely on anyone as it might be in your case. As such she wouldn't be able to awaken the world's mana heart either way.
In that sense, it's not necessary to waste precious time and effort on something that has no potential use, right? Your case is a different one, and I hope that everything works out as it should! If you need the Space door, you can purchase it right now. In exchange, you have to return 1,000 platinum coins within a year or help us with something!"
Shane was unsure whether all basic races with a great foundation tried to create one individual with a soul bound world within them, but from the looks of it, it was highly likely.
Thinking about it, the whole scenario could have been similar to that of him and Aunt Kia.
She was the one who had convinced him to buy the seed and he had readily accepted. After that, she told him that she would acquire enough resources to nurture the world seed.
However, the biggest difference between his case and others was most likely the [self-earned] and [Apprentice] stage tags which brought him a huge discount.
As such, he fared better than anyone else, even though it had been a close call. If the world seed's demand for mana had been even a little bit higher, everything would have been for naught.
Furthermore, since the blooming of the Hidden Paradise had occurred, Shane had yet to create an ecosystem, awaken its mana heart, upgrade more affinities that the world core can use, and so on.
The fortune he required was shocking and only the [self-earned] tag allowed him to retain confidence in everything!
In addition, the value of non-combat-oriented occupations was still unknown to most humans. Almost everyone who had chosen such occupations was laughed at, and Shane could use their non-existent self-confidence in order to hire them when they were at their lowest.
After he helped them by infusing some confidence, Shane would nurture them and bind them to him, preventing being left behind after the government would create an artisan federation or a similar organization.
Shane shook his head to try to clear the thoughts churning through his mind, he didn't want to think too much about all of that anymore!
He also noticed that his wound had already healed which allowed him to get up from the huge bed he had been lying inside.
The Lesser Starlet Fox followed his every step, but Shane couldn't care less about that right now.
After talking with the Old Emperor for some time he understood his thought process and replied,
"I won't be able to pay 1,000 platinum coins, but if you want help in procuring elemental crystals, for example, I might be able to acquire a new mine.
However, I won't promise anything and I don't have to rely on the space door right now. If the need arises, I could also acquire it from somewhere else, if necessary. With that in mind, we should finish everything concerning the human and Elus race's contracts before anything else!
I've already read through the price list, and if I'm not wrong, we can reduce the price by around 20% for all goods. That should be what the government planned either way!"
Kalur looked at Shane as if he was a different being because he had instantly switched from an eager disciple into a shrewd businessman.
Yet, he couldn't help but smile, knowing that Shane had figured out what he wanted to receive from him!
Elemental crystals were what their race required the most, even more than the rarest materials the human race offered them!
"Alright, let's do it like this! But...you shouldn't have the permission to act as your race's ambassador without anyone providing you with the authority first, right?"
Shane had thought about that which was the reason why he had already opened the system messenger with which he called Aunt Kia.
It didn't take long for her to answer the call, but before she could even ask him about his well-being Shane got straight to the point.
"Hello Aunt, I saw your messages, and I'm fine! You don't have to worry about me, but can you give me the authority to act as humanity's ambassador, please?
Ah, and there is something else I forgot to tell you earlier! I want to create a faction with both combat and non-combat-oriented occupations! For that, I would like to form an exclusive contract with the Elus-race too, that's fine, right? There are also nice materials I saw in our warehouse, let's make a contract too, okay?
If you wonder whether or not I can afford it, I have already created a small, non-combat-oriented group within my world and can show you the first few transactions if required!
There is also the point about expanding the artisan group in the future...how about you give me a list with names and details of high-quality non-combatant students within all academies?
The government won't do anything substantial to prevent them from being bullied either way.
Call it 'demonstrating how the real world works', 'educational measures' or whatever you want, just give them to me, if the government doesn't want to utilise their skills effectively! I'll give you and everyone else a good discount if you were to ever need their service too!
The government will benefit from that rather than receiving any disadvantages!"
Shane finished his long speech only to notice that he had forgotten to add that he had to lay claim on an elemental crystal cave.
However, that was his own headache and something he had to solve on his own if he wanted to receive something from the Elus-race!
"What?...You...huh?...Shane!! Can you please slow down a bit? Explain everything in detail and then we can talk. What do you expect me to do by simply dumping all this information on me???"
