Chapter 341: Destruction

Because the Ara race had become too full of themselves, Ilya had found many ways to take care of the altar.

However, there was only one big problem! The altar's endurance and Yan's strength were unknown.

With the appearance of a devil, Shane and Ilya couldn't trust the system restrictions inside basic primordial dimensions anymore.

As such, they told themselves that Yan was already at the Master stage and that he had liquefied a few drops of mana.

At the same time, the altar's endurance was unlikely to be comparable to an object from the advanced dimensions.

Otherwise, there wouldn't be a way to destroy it without issues.

Yet, Shane and Ilya decided to take this possibility into account!

With everything in mind, they knew that destroying the altar and killing Yan was too difficult.

At least with their current strength.

However, destruction and death were not the only means to solve the issues both Shane and Princess Ilya had to face.

There were many other ways to solve their dungeon task.

In the end, they only had to protect the Karn kingdom, and the task didn't ask them to take care of the long-term issues.

Nevertheless, in order to receive the best possible score after having failed miserably in the beginning, they would have to do something.

Three days had passed and the information they had procured was vast.

Shane had figured out everything about the adjacent kingdoms too, the Myn kingdom's traditions, culture, and what made them powerful enough to stand against the other kingdoms.

The same information about the other kingdoms was procured too, but Shane was not sure about the worth of that information.

Nevertheless, knowing more would never lead to his death, only knowing too less would!

This was something he had learned from a young age.

Shane had also investigated the barrier around the cathedral which had led him to one particular idea.

"In my opinion, creating a box with highly compressed miniature bombs, several dozen Molotov cocktails with the [mana burn] effect, a mana distortion bomb, and high-frequency rune destruction grenades will be the most efficient.

Cosmo can create a spatial portal from outside the barrier to bring things inside. We've already tested it when nobody was nearby."

Ilya was deep in thought, and Shane's plan sounded feasible.

Having someone with a spatial affinity was definitely advantageous, while the same applied to the fact that they were able to access the primordial shop.

Others didn't have said access because they didn't pass the dungeon's first task with the same degree as Shane and Ilya had achieved.

As such, it was a given that Shane and Ilya had less problems setting up a plan to destroy the entire cathedral with the main focus being the altar room.

Even if their plan wouldn't destroy the entire altar completely, at least, the explosion impact would render it useless for a long time.

The runes around the altar would disintegrate too, and the only one who should be able to inscribe the profound runes, Shane had perceived, would be the devil, the Ara race's savior!

With that being said, not even Yan's high combat prowess would be able to do anything against them.

In the end, the only issue was to figure out what kind of grade and quality the goods should have.

They were expensive and Shane didn't want to invest millions of gold coins into a dungeon task, knowing that they would have points deducted!

This would be because of what they had done shortly after arriving on the third floor.

It was nothing to be proud about, and more of an embarrassment to the two.

However, there was nothing they could change about their misappropriations now.

As such, they could only hope that the points deducted were not too high.

Nevertheless, investing too much of their precious gold coins without knowing what the next floors might bring forth was not exactly what they were supposed to do either!

While these thoughts continued to rake their minds, they decided to invest a total of 2 million gold coins.

Ilya's finances were shockingly high in comparison to Shane's, but that was not something surprising for the Princess of a race.

Shane might be the son of the human race's president, but not only was his relationship with his father somewhat strained, but the Elus race was known for being loyal and submissive to their Emperor, Empress, and other authorities.

Nevertheless, both Shane and Ilya decided to pay exactly one million gold coins, despite Ilya saying that she could handle the expenses alone.

In the end, it was not certain whether the dungeon would evaluate the teamwork showcased by the members.

This was not unlikely, but also not the reason for Shane to pay for half of the expenses with his own finances.

He believed in going Dutch and would just feel bad and useless allowing Ilya to pay for everything by herself!

After everything had been procured and enough intel gathered, Shane and Ilya had decided to leave the Ara's city for good.

There was no reason for them to stay inside any longer.

As such, they decided to leave with a great farewell gift.

With a simple box that had every little present they had purchased stacked inside neatly, Cosmo and Shane disappeared through a spatial portal when they had reached the cathedral.

While placing the box on top of the altar consisting of the old pitch-black blood, Shane couldn't help but frown before he set up the timer for the bombs to explode.

After that, they emerged through the spatial portal again, before distancing themselves quickly.

Shane and Princess Ilya had already bid Yan, who had bid them farewell without any remorse, and it was now time to leave quietly.

In the end, the Ara race didn't even seem to know what exactly they had been doing to themselves and the Karn kingdom.

However, this didn't mean that he felt bad about destroying the cathedral and altar!

Now that he had destroyed it for good, there was nobody they would kill with this, and it was for the greater good.

As such, neither Shane nor Ilya felt any guilt or remorse.

Rather, Shane felt as if a dead weight had been lifted off his chest. There had been a feeling of dread haunting him ever since he had laid his eyes upon the altar and only now could he breathe freely.

The two left the city through the gates quietly and nobody could guess that something grand was about to happen.

While Shane had summoned Umbra, once they had put enough distance between the city gates and themselves, he and Ilya jumped on his back.

"Let's leave quickly. They should start pursuing us soon!"

The words hadn't even tumbled out of Shane's mouth when a huge explosion resounded behind them, and a ginormous flame erupted from the cathedral.

It was as if they were looking at a grand campfire that died down quickly.

At that moment, a shockwave shot through them, almost pushing Shane and Ilya down from Umbra.

However, what neither Shane nor Princess Ilya knew was that they had not only demolished the entire cathedral but that the demon blood and other important goods that had been stored in the cathedral had been demolished too!

"Let's go to the demon territory! We have to make up for our stupidity!"
