The sky began to turn yellowish. The two sat on a bench in the shadow of a tree.
Iesa looked at Teren with bewilderment from what she just heard.
"What did you just say?"
"Even if I didn't change your memories, you wouldn't still remember it because you're asleep."
Teren murmured as he licked the vanilla ice cream. Of course, Iesa heard this and was incredibly confused.
"I... I don't understand."
Iesa said but Teren didn't humor her with the answer and just asked.
"Is there something you want to talk about?"
"..."
Iesa turned her head down. Seeing the ice cream in her head, she just went for a lick. What will she say?
'Do I just say that I feel like pulling him? I don't understand it as well. Why is everything so confusing...?' she pouted.
"I almost forgot who I was." Teren said while Iesa was thinking.
She turned to him, puzzled, since what he said seemingly came out of nowhere.
"We have a lot of defense mechanisms and I guess this is one of them. Do psychopaths even have one though?"
At this point, it seemed like Teren was just talking to himself. But Iesa still listened even though she doesn't understand it.
"Maybe I was inflicted by my own Spirit? I'm not sure... but I'm sure that I forgot about something important which I only remembered when I met that strange girl the other day."
"Strange girl?"
The more Teren spoke, the deeper Iesa's confusion was. At the same time, her head was hurting. Is it because of the confusion?
Teren nodded.
"She just came out of nowhere, reminding me of the past. Iesa... sorry for killing you and sorry for trying to kill you again. In the future, you will hate me."
Iesa's head hurt but she still saw the smile on Teren's face.
"But I'm glad I met you before that future. I have decided..."
His face turned to her and without any warning, Iesa received a kiss. Her eyes widened but she didn't resist.
There was only one thought in her head-
Finally...
The people who were passing by looked at this scene and felt embarrassed for the two. Even the ice-cream vendor could only evade his eyes away.
Under the public's eyes, Iesa pulled Teren when he was about to back away.
"Mmf!"
'Oh... youth. But shouldn't they at least do it in private?'
'Woah, that guy's very lucky.'
'Ah, I'm so embarrassed for them. They're so bold!'
Thoughts from various people floated but no one bothered them. It took Iesa a good moment before she felt a cold slimy droplet fell on her hand.
She pulled away and saw that the ice cream was melting in her hand.
"Ah..." she reacted and was about to apologize but then saw Teren moved his head away while his right hand covering his mouth, nose, and cheeks.
A deep frown was evident on his eyebrows. But seeing his reddened ears made Iesa bashfully smiled.
"Hehe, you're the one who initiated it, why are you getting embarrassed?" she poked his hand.
"S-shut up...!"
Teren turned his head away and shouted with a muffled voice. Instead of stopping Iesa, it only incited a wiggly smile on her.
"Come on, why are you shy? Huh? You act so mysteriously but you couldn't take a kiss you got yourself?"
"..."
Iesa laughed and continued to tease him. Only when Teren looked straight at her did she shut up.
The reason why she became silent was that she saw the violent glint in Teren's eyes.
"I'm sorry for being selfish. It's better if you don't remember it yet, Dehian."
Iesa was dazed as if she was hypnotized by his eyes.
Unknown to everyone, a wave of purple energy spread out. Those who saw the "couple" just continued walking.
'I feel like I saw something interesting today but I forgot.'
'Maybe it was nothing.'
'I was envious earlier, I wonder why.'
Even the ice-cream vendor frowned at himself, but soon, disregarded it.
"Hm?"
Iesa blinked and looked around to see that she was in a park.
"I went out here for ice cream? I'm crazy..."
She spoke to herself and wanted to cry when she saw the melted ice cream in her hand. Iesa went home with a slimy hand. This became a memorable day for her as it was very uncomfortable.
...
"We picked up another big impulse of Spirit energy!"
In one of the SSDA branches, Seres sat on one of the chairs and saw people panic.
"This is the second time in this week! It's still in the Heren City!"
Zack said as Fey tried to contact their superiors.
"We just confirmed that this spiritual surge came from an Aberrant. Based on Lady Seres' report, we can assume that this Aberrant is actually the Devil Himself!"
Seres frowned upon hearing this.
'So this is what he used the first time? The second and the third are much weaker. I wonder how much energy he needed to affect the whole world? If I didn't hear his name, I wouldn't remember a thing about him or what's happening.'
She sighed and was secretly grateful about the coincidence.
Meanwhile, Fey who was on the telephone nodded and called.
"Lady Seres, the director wants to talk to you." she was unsure why but she still obeyed.
Seres nodded and came forward to take the telephone.
[Is this Seres?] a stern voice came behind the phone.
"Yes, I am."
[Did you remember something now?]
"A little, it seemed that your memories returned to, Director."
[A little too. Your brother is a monster... just like his father.]
"Get to the point, Director. I hate hearing about it." Seres snarled.
Zack, Fey, and the others looked at this with wide eyes. Did this girl just snarl at the Director of the SSDA?
[Sorry, but I think it's safe to assume that he cannot repeat what he did years ago. Now that we remember our plans, we can finally act on it!]
"..."
[You still think this will fail?]
"Let me handle it. Just give me freedom for now."
[Fine...]
Seres then hung up and looked at the people around her.
"Prepare the strongest men you have, I'm going to meet someone.. Find the address of a girl named Iesa Hun."
