When the city mayor arrived at the doorstep of the warehouse, Uncle Jo clasped his hands.
"Perfect timing..."
Nathan heard this and was shaken. But at the next moment, he kept his calm.
'The Handwing Gang is the biggest in the city, it shouldn't be that surprising that they have a connection with the city council, especially with the mayor.'
He finally calmed down.
Thud*
But when the mayor kneeled down and prostrated in front of them, Nathan's heart almost jumped out of his chest at the same time!
"Sirs, I've always believed that the Handwing Gand didn't dissolve. My worries dispersed upon seeing you here. However... I greatly apologize but Boss Hark has been taken to jail! I have no words! Right after this, I will take him out of there!"
"Raise your head, Mayor. You're not to blame. Boss Hark intentionally let himself get caught."
Nathan turned his head around towards Uncle Jo. He was in disbelief just how much this gangster was talking domineeringly to the mayor.
But as he looked around, he frowned and thought-
'Am I the weird one!?'
"Listen well, you too, Nathan."
"Y-yeah?"
"Let me talk about the time Boss Hark has taken the seat over the Handwing Gang."
"Gulp..."
Nathan composed himself and listened attentively. While doing so, he spared a glance to the mayor who have raised his head. The mayor seemed relieved.
"Boss Hark back then helped us grow. He's not some evil... he's not some crazy... ergh... he's not that unreasonable of a person. As long as you don't bother him that much, he will stay lenient. He also has a lot of patience and tolerance. I'm really doubting he's only seventeen. Well... unless you really want to provoke him."
Uncle Jo began to chatter aimlessly and before long, he realized he was going tangent. There was so much to say about what happened back then that he couldn't help but give a lesson.
However, every word that came out of his mouth was digested well by either the mayor or Nathan. Though the latter has already known some of it. Still, knowing more about their boss will never be too bad.
"Ehem, what I intended to say was about the HIdden Wolves. Only because of the Ogre back then that these people really hid well. They're great at shady business, but, they're unable to compete in strength. However, we can't find them all and pull them out of their roots. That's when Boss Hark came in."
When it's come to this part, Uncle Jo and Dennis smirked again. Meanwhile, Old Derman was still expressionless. However, Nathan just didn't notice it but the old man bears complicated emotions in his eyes: admiration, regret, and many more.
"Boss Hark immediately took action and stopped the Hidden Wolves operation. You can ask Grandpa Derman here, they've lost a business partner back then. Not just the Spectre Gang but also the others in the neighbouring cities."
'Is that why they're smirking?' Nathan raised an eyebrow, 'I thought the uncles are getting along with grandpa, am I wrong? I guess they are still once rivals...?'
"And this is the funny part..."
Uncle Jo began to giggle.
"I was there when Boss Hark literally blocked the underground passage. The Hidden Wolves have little to no Aberrants. Therefore, they were basically just guns and bombs. That may have hindered us but not Boss Hark. So as you guess, he began massacring the Hidden Wolves... so how did they end up in prison? We didn't put them there nor were they taken by the police... they escaped there."
"Ohh... ah..?"
"Well, you haven't seen it, Nathan. So you don't know how funny it is when the so-called Alpha, the Hidden Wolves' leader pleaded but Boss Hark continued to slay his men."
Dennis butted in as the mayor turned pale.
These people think that slaying people is funny...?
"Ah, no, we're not that evil. It's just that the Alpha and his wolves are too arrogant at first but later on, he peed himself. After that, he used his men as shields before going to the police himself to turn himself in. Since you can't get out of prison, it must be hard to get in too, right? Maybe that's his thoughts."
"So that's why you didn't think that the Hidden Wolves are no longer in operation because of that?"
Nathan asked and he was correct when Uncle Jo nodded.
"Boss Hark strikes great fear. When he acts, he terrorizes, just that, he didn't really bother to kill the Alpha. Peeing himself, we all thought that he might as well died inside. But I guess he may have the instinct for business, as the leader of the Hidden Wolves, that he got back on track."
Uncle Jo then finished his explanations and looked at the Mayor who was still kneeling as if he was listening to a preschool teacher tell a story.
"Now, Mayor, we actually have a job to do. Since Boss Hark's identity wouldn't be out in the public because of the special division of the SSDA, the Media Control Group, we have a lot of free spaces to stretch our limbs."
Hearing this, the mayor nodded.
"Yes, I was visited by one of their representatives actually - from that special division. They've asked me permission to take over the internet provider and other servers for a while. Since it's not the first time and it's to hide Boss Hark's identity, I permitted them before speaking to you."
"Good, that's the right choice. And mayor, if you can, we have another job to do."
With that said, Uncle Jo further explained the current situation and how the mayor can help. The mayor's arrival is perfect timing as this step of the plan will make good use of him.
Meanwhile, back to jail, Teren stood on top of the table and his eyes coursed through those who have a Spirit or not. Furthermore, he also noticed that the so-called Alpha wasn't giving him attention.
"What's your name, newbie?"
Teren looked down at the big men they call the Deltas and answered.
"Teren Hark"
He answered loud and clear.
