Lesker

The ride to the royal palace felt like eternity. It was located on a hill, miles away from the monastery. We had to use portals to get there faster. I was dreading each moment we got closer to the palace.

I've heard a lot about Queen Kohra. She's a just and fair queen, like the ones before her. She was a little crazy though. She once plucked out a man's eyes for staring at her too long. She caught a man with a harem and dismembered him with her sword in few strokes. Only members of the royal family could have harems.

She hates men. It was quite obvious. And I was to be her consort. Does the cosmos hate me that much? The guards in the carriage all look me with pity and some with distaste. I'm not the most handsome man but they don't have to hurt my pride like that.

The palace came to view soon. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Statues of the goddess Muni and former priestesses adorned the grounds. The temple of Muni was just behind the palace.

I alighted from the carriage and was lead into the palace by the guards. They had dressed me in royal garbs and damn, was it uncomfortable. I wanted this day to be over already.

The woman that came earlier, the Queen mother, met us at the gate. She lifted her veil and I almost forgot to breathe. For a woman as old as she is, she was gorgeous.

"What is your name?" She asks in a soft voice.

"Lesker" the word flowed out of my mouth, almost without my permission.

"What's your magix, Lesker?"

"I....I don't have one your highness"

"Hmm....I see. Well, it doesn't matter. Come, let's go in" she says and I follow her.

I'm shocked. No one had ever dismissed the fact I had no magix except the Abbot. The queen mother just accepted it and I followed her. Not having magix is the main reason I couldn't become a monk. Now, I couldn't tell if it was a gift or a curse.

The Queen mother was gliding through the castle in her long gown while I struggled to keep up. She reaches a set of doors and the guards in front of them bow before opening the doors.

It was the most exquisite dinning room I'd ever seen. Granted, I had not seen a lot in my life, it certainly topped the charts by far.

"Sit Lesker. The queen would meet us here"

"Okay" and so, we waited. We didn't have to wait for long though, the doors soon opened up to reveal the Queen.

If I thought her mother was beautiful, I didn't not know what to think about her. She was a succubus, that's what I know. No wonder that man stared so much, he got his eyes plucked out. She looked like she was carved from a goddess, a perfect embodiment. She exhibited grace, piose and dignity. She scared the shit out of me.

I was literally trembling as she walked in. I avoided her indifferent hazel eyes and stared at the table like it was the most fascinating thing in the world.

I could feel her briefly accessing me and taking her eyes away. I sighed in relief inwardly that she lost interest.

The Queen mother got her to greet me and she went back to eating. She didn't care. That was a good sign. Maybe she'll leave me alone.

A group of veiled women entered the room, making the atmosphere terse. Queen Kohra's indifferent eyes turned frigid at the sight of them. It seemed she didn't like them one bit.

She stormed out after debating with them for a while. She was bothered about me being kidnapped. I won't lie, it lit a flame of hope in me. For someone who had been ignored and mocked his whole life, to have someone care about me was nice. It made me.....happy.

The women disappeared right in front of my eyes, saying nothing to me. I knew they had probed me but I had nothing to hide. My past wouldn't interest them anyways.

"I'd get someone to show you around. You're the first consort so you deserve that much. Vithia!" The queen mother called. A maid appeared in a poof of purple smoke beside her.

"Show the Queen's first consort around and get him accustomed to the palace. Assign an enunch to him"

"Yes your highness" the maid replies. The Queen mother nods satisfactorily and leaves the room.

"This way milord" Vithia says and leads me on a tour of the castle.
