Chapter 131 - Irritation

Two hours later - Main Street-

If you know that much information, then why not make that knowledge public already? If you do, then all the other groups they have an alliance with can take action. But even to the bitter end, they insist on making this even more complicated. Rhys was on his way back from an irritating meeting.

Rhys was tempted just to leak the information out so the other groups would get started. However, he shuts his eyes and opens them again as he looked over at the rooftop. The person immediately disappears, almost like a shadow that wasn't there, and yet the redhead had noticed him. It appears somebody is watching him. Dear oh dear, if they don't trust him that much. Then would it not be better to lock him up somewhere to keep his mouth shut?

Rhys let's out a deep sigh if they will go ahead and watch him, anyway. Then he shouldn't bother trying to hide his intimate relation with Lyn. As that thought flashed through his mind, he recalled what occurred between the two of them earlier. In the end, it'll have to be this way between them, because even with Kazuya's return.

Rhys didn't wish for anything to change between them. Even now, he still wishes to keep getting closer and closer to her, closer and closer until they truly became one with each other. His deep thoughts broke off when he sees a crowd gathering. Hmm? What's going on? Rhys immediately realized that it was right outside the inn. His eyes twitched in annoyance, 'Don't tell him..'

He rushed forward and indeed saw Lyn. An old man had grabbed hold of her hand - a drunk from the looks of it. Are these people statues? Why are they standing there and watching?

Rhys made his way through the crowd and stopped the man from dragging Lyn away.

"What are you doing?" Rhys grabbed the older man's wrist and pried it of Lyn's.

"Who are you to butt into somebody else's business?"

"She's my wife," Rhys said calmly.

At this comment, though, he noticed Lyn's face turned redder and redder. 'She's cute when she blushes..' But isn't this the perfect opportunity for her to jump into his arms and hug him? Why isn't she doing that? In fact, he noted that Lyn was gradually backing away from him.

"Your wife? But she is running away."

Rhys eyes twitched in annoyance at Lyn's behavior. This dammed woman. What is she trying to do? Why is she even outside after he told her to stay put? Ah, why does she never listen to him? Even back then, she was like this. One would think since so many years have passed, Lyn would be wiser. But didn't this girl get stupider? Or is it just him getting randomly worked up?

"I won't hand her over to someone like you," the old man pulled out a dagger. Rhys sighed, 'how stupid.' "A lot of people will pay for a beauty like her; you're robbing me of good merchandise."

At that comment, his gaze darkened. He was already irritated with this man for touching Lyn, and now he just crossed the line. The older man headed towards them, Rhys pulled Lyn behind him. Rhys didn't have to use much strength to stop the old man. His posture was lousy, so he had many holes to exploit. Honestly, Rhys didn't want to waste his strength with the guy at all. But when he saw the man's l.u.s.tful look towards Lyn, he ended up doing more than twist his arm.

Before Rhys could continue torturing the man who was apologizing, he felt a pair of arms wrap around him from the back.

"Stop it! Are you going to kill him?"

He was already irritated. But hearing Lyn defend the man, made him angrier. Is this woman stupid? Why is she defending the man who almost assaulted her? While Lyn can perfectly handle herself now. She's strong, stronger than him. Rhys knew the girl wouldn't fight back. People know her well because of her powers. If she fights, somebody will recognize. There are strange rumors about Lyn being in this town already.

Rhys turned around and pinched Lyn's cheeks. "Why are you saying such stupid things for? Do you even know whose fault this is? Why didn't you just stay inside! This happened because you ignored my instructions."

"I understand Rhys, but you were taking too long! I became worried."

Damn, why does she have to say those things? Whenever Lyn becomes like this, Rhys knew he couldn't lecture her. Rhys was about to wipe her tears when he felt sudden movement. He shoved Lyn away immediately and felt a blade pierce through his side. Right as he was about to react, a bright light surrounded the man and took him away.

Lyn immediately rushed over and caught him before he collapsed on the ground. "Rhys? Rhys? Are you okay?!"

"Stupid question."

She bit her lip and laid his head on his lap. Funnily enough, the huge crowd from before had vanished. He supposes the show got boring the moment he stepped in. People would rather stand by and watched a girl get harassed than a rescue. 'Heartless bastards,' Rhys gritted his teeth. Even though that man had weak reflexes, and he could have dodged that blade easily. However, if he dodged then, it would have hit Lyn.

Lyn may have that fancy healing magic. But, Rhys would not allow her to do something stupid like that. He can't risk her getting hurt even for a single moment; Lyn is that important to him. He reached over and wiped her tears, "Just bring me inside, Lyn. I will be fine then."

She nodded hesitantly when they hear a familiar voice. A man came rushing through the remaining crowd; it was Luxin. "My apologies, I should have been with you."

Rhys shook his head; he reached sat up and ran his hands through his hair. "I was the one acting like an idiot for."

He is the one letting his personal emotions and feelings get the better of him. Rhys scooped the girl up in his arms, "I'll take Lyn to rest, tell the others to go on ahead," he instructed.

"Yes, sir."

"Wait, I didn't get hurt--" Lyn exclaimed.

"Just be quiet," he mumbled. All this talking is making him feel even worse than before.
