Chapter 34 - Her White Lie

The almost unmoving cars on the road caused by the traffic made it for Ingrid to easily transverse her way towards other side - all while her eyes locked unto the guy wearing a black cap and face mask and who just came out from a dark and narrow path.

He was walking on the side road with a calm and fast steps. With this, he doesn't look like he was injured at first glance at all,  but even with that, his limping foot wasn't able to hide from Ingrid's scrutinizing eyes. Not to mention the blood that started to slowly seep out of his clothes.

Ingrid tried to catch up to him but stopped midway.

The guy's injury is probably not that serious since he can walk wearing a deadpan expression despite that. Most importantly, he's the male lead, nothing severe would happen to him this early in the game, probably.

And, right now, Ingrid is just his nameless neighbor. Their relationship is not that close enough for her to show extreme concern towards him. Especially, now that he was hiding his injury. If she goes now, she would be suspicious.

Ingrid bit her lip. And told herself, 'No more rash actions. Keep playing safe.' Since OOC is the last thing that she wanted to happen.

Ingrid was about to turn back and look for another taxi ride home. However, before she could do that action, Ingrid saw a person coming out from the same path that Van came from. And when their eyes met, Ingrid's eyes narrowed when she recognized who it was.

It's Sera.

Now, Ingrid had no doubt who the female lead is. And obviously, the person who caused or indirectly caused Van's injury is definitely her.

Sera paced towards her, Ingrid was just a few meters away so she immediately reached her. Sera's breath was irregular and a few sweat covered her forehead - signs that she ran on her way here.

"I'm on duty right now so pardon me for being unable to greet you and offer a proper apology. Perhaps, have you seen a guy coming out from the same place I came out from?" The words were quite numerous, however, everything was said under a single breath.

A small smile appeared on Ingrid's lips. "No worries, and for your question, yes, I did saw a man."

Excitement flashed for a second in that ash grey eyes of hers. And this only made the sly grin behind Ingrid's polite smile to grow wider. "Going which way?" Sera asked.

"There." Ingrid said. Pointing towards the complete opposite of the way that she saw Van went to.

"Thank you!" Without wasting another second, Sera ran towards that direction.

Sera can't find any reason for Clauen to lie so she trusted her answer without a second thought. And Ingrid, felt no guilt in exploiting this fact.

Sera, the female lead, was chasing after Van without a killing intent nor a threatening aura. With this, Ingrid ȧssumed that Van probably saved her or something on that point and gained her gratitude - and chased after him to thank her benefactor.

And while looking towards the direction that Van goes to, a deep light emerge on her pair of limpid eyes.

Stalking an always alert police woman is no simple feat. This already gave Ingrid an impression that Van is no simple character. Yet now, after seeing how he shrugged off Sera without even breaking a sweat, Ingid knew that Van is dangerous and shrouded with much more mystery than she thought he was.
