Chapter 254 - Revenge 255: Her Husband

Name:REBORN: Revenge Author:C_J_Taganna
"Did you say something, auntie?" Mary asked.

"No. I did not say anything." Claire was even more amused at Anna and Kyle. It was no wonder why she felt so familiar with them, they are the children of the people that she has taken care of way back then.

Claire looks at Anna and Kyle again as she asked a question to Mary and Layla."So, which one is whose?" Although Claire already has an idea whose kid whose, she likes to tease Mary and Layla.

"Tsked! Auntie, you already have seen our husbands' faces, and I know that you already knew which one of them is mine." Mary can't help but clicked her tongue in irritation.

Her daughter looks a lot like her husband, and that fact really angers her.

She had her twins in her w.o.m.b for nine months, she suffered so many morning sicknesses, and what she gets? Her twins took most of their father's genes. A few years later after giving birth, that darn father of theirs suddenly disappeared without any explanation of why he left.

Mary wants justice, if she had known that Arion would leave her just like that, then she should have just prayed harder for the gods o make her twins look a lot like her.

"Auntie, I don't know if that question is intentional or not, but I feel very offended," Layla said with a hmph. Just like Mary, Layla also felt the injustice that her son looks a lot like his father. When she was carrying Kyle on her w.o.m.b, she wished for Kyle to inherit her and Stan's genes half and half. But no, it did not turn out like that.

"Tsked. You two still have that sharp tongue." Claire is not angry at the way Layla and Mary responded to her, instead she is happy to hear their voices again.

As she is happy, she is also sad just looking at Mary. Mary reminds her too much of her beloved. One of her reasons why she does not have any courage to visit Mary after all these years, and she is pretty sure that Mary knows that.

The only similarity between them is that she and Mary are good at hiding their real feelings. When facing someone who is most likely can hurt them, they set their hearts into stone just to protect their fragile self.

"Heh. You're the one who taught us to be like this, auntie." Layla said with a smug on her face.

The elegant lady that the public has known is now gone. If anyone would have seen the face that Layla is making right now, they would ask twice if she really is Layla Robertson. Even Kyle would ask the same thing too. He never had seen this kind of side of his mother.

With an eyebrow rose up, Claire spoke with ridicule in her tone. "You and Mary are such a two-faced." Sometimes Claire wonders if Mary and Layla ever got tired pretending to be nice to other people.

"We learned from the best," Mary replied. Everything that Mary knew about fooling her enemies, she learned it from Claire. Aside from her master, Claire was her other mentor who also taught her how to survive in any danger she might face.

The table that they are in was engulfed in silence as they watched Kyle and Anna having a sweet moment together. As they were watching them, Mary suddenly remembers a scene of her master and Claire together.

Sadness fills her heart as she is remembering that scene.

Ever since her master's death, Mary and Claire had never had their proper conversation. They are able to smile at each other, but they could never face each other without a hint of sadness in their eyes.

With a bitter tone, Mary broke that silence. "I know that it is late, but I want to say that I am sorry for being late at that time. If-"

Mary was not able to finish her words when Claire silenced her. "Mary, there is no need for you to apologize to me. What had happened to my husband is not your fault."

Claire never blamed Mary for what happened to her husband, and even if she did, the hate would dissipate quickly because she does not have the heart to hate Mary for so long. She and her husband considered Mary like their own and hating Mary would be the most painful thing for them.

Mary wanted to say that what happened to her master is her fault,  but Layla covers her mouth preventing her further speak the topic. "Mary, stop about that and focus at Anna and Kyle, that is what we are here for." Layla knows that the topic Claire and Mary are talking about is a sad one, and she would like it if they stop talking about it because they are only hurting themselves if they continue to talk about it.

"We should probably get going now, Anna," Kyle said as he is looking at the time on his phone. It is almost six in the evening, and he does not want Anna to stay out for that long because he somehow felt that Aaron will interrogate him about Anna.

Worst case scenario of that is that Aaron would nag him nonstop about approaching Anna with weird intention. Although he hates getting nag by someone, Kyle thinks that he should tolerate it just once, but he wishes for that to not happen.

"I guess we should." Anna sounded so disappointed when she knew that it is time for them to go. She had not realized that she and Kyle stayed for quite a long time in the cafe. They have been too engaged in their conversation that she did not realize the time.

Anna and Kyle stood up from their seats and went their way towards the parking lot. As they are walking, Anna suddenly felt that there are eyes staring at her and Kyle. She turns her head around, but she saw no one. There are only a few people left inside the cafe, and none of them seems to be suspicious.

With that in mind, Anna shrugged the feeling of someone watching her.

When Anna and Kyle left the two mothers sighed in relief that Anna did not see them. "Your daughter almost caught us!" Layla said with the volume of her voice slightly raised up.

"I know, but I am kind of disappointed that Anna did not catch us spying on her date."
