"Of course I am fine. Why wouldn't I be?" Mary said hiding the fact that she feeling all sorts of emotion she does not want to feel. She also does not want to affect her children with her negative emotions.
"Mom, we're your kids. We know when you are lying to us." Other than looking up to his uncle Leonardo, Arion also looks up to his mother. He always observes his mother when she is working, and he remembered the time that he tried to read through all the business reports his mother reads. That is his way of trying to understand more of his mother's world.
Since little and up until now, he knows his mother very well. When she lies and when she is hiding something from him and his sister.
Initially, Aaron would stay silent and wait for his mother to speak, however, now that this is all happening in just a day, he won't wait. He has to say something or else it will leave a mark of guilt on him.
"Brother is right, mom. You can't keep doing this to yourself. You have to let us know what you really feel." Anna also feels the same way as her brother. She does not want her mother to keep it all in and not letting it out just because she is afraid of affecting her and her brother.
She and her twin brother are now old enough to understand everything. They are not six years old anymore. Whether they say it or not, they know what is happening around them.
Now Anna understands where she got her personality of keeping what she truly feels inside and not telling anybody about it. Because of that personality of hers, it led to her death back in her past life.
Since the twins and Mary are having their conversation in a whisper, the people who are waiting for them are curious about what they are saying.
"Boss, do you think that they are cursing at you?"
Leon's words made Arion frown, but he did not respond to it since he thinks that it's possible for that to happen. After all, his wife and son are quite displeased by his sudden appearance today.
"Mary, stop making everyone wait for you guys. The food is getting cold by the minute." Claire may seem like the bad guy of this evening, however, that is not the case because she is giving everyone the chance to cool their head first before talking again.
They were being too emotional earlier and if they keeping talking while their emotions are not stable, they will not able to come into an understanding. And also, she would like the Coleman family to have their talk. Just them as a family, and fix everything once and for all because from what she sees the one who is hurting the most is Anna.
Anna may not say anything, but Claire can tell that she is in the middle of everything and is hurting because of it.
The three did not say and just took their seats.
The dinner started silently, but that silence is only making Leon and Claire frustrated. Claire did say that she wants them to take their time and stable their emotions, but she did not mean to make them silent throughout the whole dinner.
"Aaron," Mary called out Aaron's name, and without hesitation, Aaron turns his head around and face Claire. "I saw a stain of blood on your shirt earlier. It was not yours obviously, but how that happened? Did you kill someone?"
"I wish that was the case, but unfortunately, it's not." The man that Aaron faced earlier really got into his nerves. That man was testing him for some reason, and he hates being tested like that.
That man let Aaron shot him, and that what really anger Aaron earlier. That could have dodged that bullet, but he did not. Aaron wants to know why that man did not avoid that bullet. He also wants to know why he is targeting the people around him.
Aaron might now know that man's name, but that man's face is a hard one to forget. He's the same person who killed Pia, Alexandre's mother.
"Oh, that must be so frustrating." Basing on Aaron's tone of voice and choice of words, Claire can tell that Aaron is angry at the fact that is unable to finish off the person he faced earlier.
"Whether it's frustrating or not, it's good that you are alive and that you should never go against that man alone." Arion's serious voice was heard. "The next time you face him alone, the number one thing you should do is find a way to escape."
"Excuse me? Are you saying that my son should just run away to whoever that person is? My son is not that weak." Hearing Arion's words made the anger inside Mary rise up again. One of the things that she hates the most is when people underestimate her children without knowing what her children can even do.
A glint of coldness flashed through Arion's eyes when he faced Mary, "That is not what I meant, Mary. I would like for Arion to finish off any bastards who stands in his way, however, that bastard is not any bastards that we face on the sidelines, that bastard from earlier is Johan. Do you really think that OUR son can face him alone?"
Arion can tell that his son is capable of defending himself, however, his son can't defend himself from everyone. There is always someone who is stronger than his son, and that person would be Johan. Aaron is nowhere at Johan's level, and giving a warning to his son about Johan is only the right thing to do.
Mary was put into silence when she heard that. She is unable to rebuke back to Arion's words because every word that he said made sense. Finding a way to escape when facing Johan is the only way for her son to survive.
"It's not a cowardly action, but it's an action to survive," Arion added and he made sure that his son heard him. In the field that they work in, the number one rule they have on the book is to survive no matter what. And he is sure that his children know that rule very well.
Arion continued to eat his food, acting like he is ignoring all of what Arion just said. But as much as he does not want to hear all of it, Arion's words stuck on his mind and he can't do anything about it.
"What was he doing there?" Claire asked in a mumbling voice, but everyone on the table heard it.
