Chapter 391 - Revenge 392: Ulterior Motives

Name:REBORN: Revenge Author:C_J_Taganna
"Why is that?" Anna asked.

"I think it's because of your uncle James. I knew that someone is going on with him, but I decided to turn into a blind eye and not further investigate." Other than her master, the Coleman family is the only family who made her feel at home.

However, after learning all the things that James is planning, she is starting to remember the horrible place she used to call 'home'. Back in that horrible home, their goal was no to kill her but to experiment on her. Despite their real intention towards her, Mary still felt that they were trying to kill her. And James made her feel like that.

"Brother and I should have told you," Anna said this, but she knows that it's too late to regret the decision she and her brother made.

"It's alright, Anna. In honesty, I'm proud of the two of you." Mary doesn't need to explain everything to Anna. All her daughter needs to know that no matter what kind of person they might become she will always be proud of them.

Earlier, before she went out here in the garden, she asked Leon where are her twins, and when she found out the twins were with her father-in-law and Martha, she suddenly got the feeling that the twins are going to take their next step towards their future with the Colemans.

"Anna, what did you think about your uncle James' punishment?"

Anna paused for a moment. She didn't know how should she answer that question. Should she be honest or not?

However, in the end, Anna chooses to be truthful to her mother, "I don't think that uncle James should be pardoned of his crimes just like that. I mean, he planned to kill you, Mom! It's unforgivable! I just wished that Elder Martha should have suggested a better punishment for uncle James."

There is one more thing that Anna didn't add, she also thinks that even if her uncle James did get kicked out of the family, that punishment is still not enough. Anna is not satisfied with that. She wants her uncle James to suffer more. But how can she request that to the other elders?

She is important to the Coleman family, however, she cannot take action of what she wanted to happen. The elders are the group of people she can't cross the line just yet. She needs a higher position to overpower them.

"I'm glad you feel that way." Mary also thinks that James deserves a better punishment. She has the right to say something since her life is already on James' target list, but she let Martha take the lead. "There is something you need to know about Martha, Anna," Mary said in a serious tone.

"About her? Why?" Anna knows the basics stuff about Martha Cole, and she has no plan to get to know her deeper than that. But if her mother says that with seriousness in her tone, then Anna has no choice but to do a little more research about Martha Cole.

"Martha Cole is not exactly the person you think she is. She is strict and cold, however, she is also wicked just your grandfather. Maybe a bit more than your grandfather. She didn't pardon James' crimes just because of your grandfather's feelings. She has an ulterior motive."

Mary and Martha only have a few interactions together, but even if it is only a few, she already knows what kind of person Martha is. Martha may old, but her mind is still strong and she knew exactly what she is doing. Everything that she does has a reason, and that sometimes scares Mary because she has no idea what is going on in her mind.

"An ulterior motive? What kind of a motive?"

"What kind? I have no idea." Mary shrugged her shoulders. "I'm telling you this because I don't you or your brother to feel like your work didn't show any good results because it did. Revealing James' scheme really angered Martha, and she hates traitors the most. I'm sure that sooner or later, James is going to beg that he should have gone to jail or should have died."

Only a few people who knew that side of Martha and those few people are always careful in what they say around her. Even Martha's own family is careful around her. That's why most people like Marcus more than her because Marcus can be scary when he's angry but it's not the same when it comes to Martha.

'They are just two peas in a pod. No wonder they get along so well.' Mary inwardly said.

"That's what Mom said?" Aaron asked.

The twins just got home, and currently, Aaron is invading Anna's room. Their mother and father are currently not anywhere in the mansion, they seem to have gone somewhere. To where that place is? The twins have no idea.

As for their grandfather, he went directly to his room, the whole even from earlier must have tired him out. Both Anna and Aaron are quite thankful that their grandfather didn't pass out from too much shock. If their grandfather fainted earlier, the twins might blame themselves for giving out too much information about their uncle James' scheme.

"Yeah," Anna replied. "Grandfather knew about this, but it seems like he no intention of stopping Elder Martha from her motives. I'm surprised, to be honest." It surely did surprise Anna that her grandfather is just gonna let Martha Cole do what she wants towards James. She thought that her grandfather would have stop Martha because James is his son, but obviously, she thought wrong.

"I guess even if Grandfather loves his family so much, he still couldn't forgive those who betray his trust." Somehow Aaron felt relieved that James is gonna go through a severe punishment after all because, if his uncle James gets a light punishment, Aaron might just assassinate him and fill his satisfaction.

"Anyways, what are we gonna do about the jewel? You still have it, don't you?" Anna asked.

"I tried to put it back to its rightful place, but Elder Martha and Grandfather told me that I should be taking care of it since I'm the next heir." Aaron doesn't sound so excited knowing that he is going to be the next heir, and that made Anna feel like something is bothering her brother.

"Isn't that a good thing? You are the next heir of our family?" She asked.

"It is, but I feel like I cheated."

The moment Aaron released his words, that made Anna feel like she wanna punch her brother's face. "How many times do I have to say it to everyone that I don't have any intention of competing with to be an heir! Geez! So stubborn!"

Anna already set a goal for her life, and she doesn't want it to be ruin again. In her past life, she wasn't able to achieve because of Juan and Rebecca meddling with her life, but in this miracle life of hers, she is not gonna let anyone stand in her way.

She will try and achieve her goal by any means.

"But why don't you want to?" Aaron asked curiously.

"Because I have my own path that I want to take. Besides, being an heir is annoying, everyone will keep an eye on you. Once you make a mistake it's already in the tabloid. Don't you think that kind of thing is very annoying?" Anna still remembers from her past life that her brother punch a guy in the face and a certain outside saw and posted in the news. Her brother was so angry at that time that he made sure that the media who made an article about him got bankrupt.

She has no idea what made her brother punch that guy, but she is sure that it must have been so serious.

"It is annoying. Our family hasn't even announced it to the public yet, but people are already keeping an eye on us. It will get worse once everything is announced." With the thought of the media keeping an eye at his every move for their own benefit is making him feel discourage to become an heir of their family.

Anna observes her brother, and said, "Don't worry, I'll be right next to you when you need me." Anna is trying to lighten her brother's mood, but it's useless. He's feeling more discouraged than he was seconds ago.

"Let's stop talking about this," Aaron said, wanting to avoid the topic. "I wonder what happened to Nathalia and the others. Did they manage to drive off Elizabeth?"

"I received a message from Nathalia earlier, and she said that everything went well. She'll tell us the whole story when we meet her tomorrow." When Anna read Nathalia's message earlier, she can feel that Nathalia is in a better mood than she was.

Anna is happy that the toxic person in Nathalia's life has finally driven off.
