"At least you know your mistake," Aaron mumbled, but everyone in the room heard him. And Anna could not help but pinch his side.
"Shut your mouth. Aaron. Have some respect to Elder Martha." It feels like it was only a second ago that her brother was so scared of facing Martha again, but now, his attitude towards Martha has changed to a whole new degree.
"Anna, I said it's alright. I'm used to this kind of attitude when a Coleman is frustrated like your brother." Aaron's father didn't exactly give Martha the right attitude when he was angry back then. She has no idea if that is still the case for Arion, but one thing is for sure, Aaron is just like his father.
"But Elder Martha, no matter how frustrated or angry he is now, he shouldn't be so rude to you." Anna also feels the same way as her brother, but she's not gonna act the same as her brother. That is not the way their mother has taught them.
"That's very nice of you, Anna. No wonder you are loved so deeply by your uncle Alfonso." Since Alfonso did experience following Martha's orders years ago, Jay and Alfonso got to know each other. There is no doubt that they both are close friends. And from time to time, they sometimes get together to have a drink.
"Well, my uncle Alfonso doesn't really like me to become a 'full-fledge' Coleman." Anna awkwardly smiled after she said that. "And since he doesn't want to be a 'full-fledge', he spoils me a bit too much and always reminds me about that."
"Spoil you? I didn't notice." From the first time that Jay saw Anna, he saw Mary in her. A young woman who doesn't like to depend on money too much. Who likes to do things and achieve greatness just by using her efforts.
Hearing Anna that she's been spoiled by the people around her is hard to believe, but then again, Anna is impossible not to like. It'll be a no wonder.
"When are you gonna make a move, Elder Martha? I'm pretty sure that even if Grandfather is not at this kind of state, he will not hesitate on making a move. It's better to remove the pest before things get worse." Aaron asked.
Anna stared at her brother and she can't find the right words to say to him. He looks so angry. That face that he is making right is the same that she has not seen for a long time, to be more precise, that is the face that saw one time in her past life. It's making her shiver, shiver from the sudden fear she has from her brother.
"Sooner the better," Martha replied nonchalantly.
Martha wanted to say more, but the person who abruptly opened the door stopped her. She saw two people coming in with a worried look on their faces.
"Young Master! Young Mistress!" The butler of the house exclaimed the moment he saw that the two precious twins of the house are safe and sound. But the moment his eyes saw Marcus laying on the bed looking so pale, he also turned pale. "Please. Punish us, Young Master, Young Mistress. Nanny Tess and I left the mansion unattended. If only one us had not left, then-"
"Butler Michael, there is no need to punish you and you are not at fault. Sure, you left the mansion, but you have a good reason for it." Anna said cutting off what butler Michael is about to say. Every once in a week, on this very day, everyone who works at the mansion knows that butler Michael and Nanny Tess are always out to buy the needs of the mansion.
Anna and Aaron don't see any reason to punish both of them for something they have no clue about.
"B-But-" Nanny Tess tried to say something, but Aaron walks towards her, then he places both of his hand on her shoulder.
"Nanny Tess, seeing the both of you looking like that, I can tell that you two didn't receive any call from any of the workers of the house. And since that is the case, we are telling you that you and butler Michael are not at fault."
On the way here, Anna called butler Michael, Nanny Tess, and also their parents and told them what happened. All of them are quite shocked and angry that no one actually dared to call any of them in these kinds of emergency.
"Where are those useless people? I must teach them a lesson." Butler Michael said in an angry tone. For the first time in such a long time, he felt that he wants to inflict pain onto other people physically.
"Everything is taken care of," Martha spoke. "The twins made a decision and fired them all. Looks like you're going to have a lot of work to have new workers to come to this place, Michael."
Somehow, Martha felt bad for Michael doing more work than he has to. Looking for new workers for the mansion is quite tough to deal with because the Colemans are quite cautious about the people who work for them. They always need to do a background check.
"I do not care about that, Mistress Martha. If I were in the same position as the Young Master was in earlier, I would do the same thing." Butler Michael is an uptight person and everyone in the mansion knows that. Which the more reason why butler Michael is perfect for his job because he does things right away.
With all the noise that Anna and the others are making, Marcus woke up. And he looks he is not in the right mood. "Can you people just shut up when someone is sleeping peacefully here?"
"You don't have the right to ask that question when your complexion is as pale as a dead body, Marcus," Martha spoke in a sarcastic tone, but despite that tone, everyone can tell that she is relieved that Marcus is not awake.
"God. I really hate it when you talk like that." Marcus chuckled, and he also can't deny Martha's comment because his body is not feeling that well.
Anna stares at her grandfather, and tears started to fall down to her cheeks. "Grandfather!" She exclaimed, then jump into her grandfather's embrace. "You got me worried! Please! Don't ever do it again."
"I only fainted, there is no need for that kind of worry, Anna. Your grandfather is still strong!" Marcus spoke in a cheery voice, trying to lighten up Anna's mood.
Anna heard her grandfather's words, but she refused to look at him in the face and just hugs him tightly. She doesn't want him to see her crying face. But even if she does that everyone can tell that she's crying.
Her crying state is making Marcus confuse, he didn't think that his faint could cause this much damage to his precious granddaughter. It is as if she has already seen him die or something similar to that.
"Anna..." Aaron wanted to tell his sister to calm stop hugging their grandfather tightly, but Marcus signaled him not to. Even Aaron is also confused at Anna's crying state. He understands why she's worried, but from his point of view, it seems it's a bit too much.
"We leave you guys alone," Martha said, then she signaled everyone else to leave the room. "We'll talk later before I leave, Marcus." She said before leaving the room.
~~~
"Are you worried about your sister, Aaron?" Jay asked. It's only been a few minutes since they left Marcus' room, and Aaron is already having a troubled expression on his face.
"Is it that too obvious, uncle Jay?"
"It is, Young Master." Butler James firmly said to Aaron as he places the teacups on the coffee table. "You should be that worried about the Young Mistress. She's only crying because she was worried about the Elder Master's health."
"I know that. but that's the thing. It's troubling me." Aaron could not erase the feeling that Anna is hiding something from him. He tried to shrug it off months ago, but the moment he saw Anna cry like that he can't help but want to dig in for more information.
Jay wanted to discuss more of that feeling Aaron is harboring inside of him, but the main couple of the mansion has finally arrived.
"You two are finally here. What took you both so long?" Martha asked.
"Well, first of all, the place that we were at was far away from here, and secondly, there was traffic. We tried our best to come here as soon as possible." Mary explained. She wanted to say that she and her husband almost got into an accident on the way here, but she decided not to.
"Ignoring the fact that we have just arrived, can anyone tell me how is my father is doing right now? And also, where is my daughter?" Arion asked worriedly.
