5 ♠ Chapter 5 : One versus All

Name:REVERSE Author:Arl_Hesse
A stab of a knife attacked Lacian on the top bunk, unfortunately, even when sleeping -- Lacian could still feel everything around her. She mischievously rolled towards her side to avoid the knife and groaned. Aaron managed to intrude their unit without waking up Francis on the bottom bed. He carefully raised the knife again, preparing to pierce the sleeping lady under him.

"Knock it out, I'm still sleepy." Lacian murmured while chomping her inner cheek. Aaron was taken aback and withdrawed, he fell on the bed and landed on the floor with his back. He hissed with the pang and quickly stood up. Francis sat up quickly the moment he heard the loud thud and hit his head with the metal ladder.

"Aw fuck!" Francis cursed loudly and glared at the guy standing in front of them. Lacian remained sleeping while Francis frowned and asked the guy: "Who are you?"

Aaron dressed in his usual ninja suit unsheathed his sword that he was carrying from his back and pointed it towards Francis's neck. Francis gulped the lump in his throat, a careful gulped as if he was trying to make his Adam's apple bobbed without letting the blade touch it.

"Uhm, Ace?" the Ace's disciple called his master, his eyes resting on the shiny blade pointing its tip on his neck. One wrong move and he would lose his head.

"We got a tiny problem here, would you mind waking up?" Francis said carefully, trying to tame the wild animal in front of him. He received no reply from Lacian.

"I am here to kill your master" Aaron answered as if it was not his duty but an obligation. Francis's mind was in chaos as he tried to think of an escape plan. He remembered what Lacian taught him in situations like this: "Stay calm. Plan. Succeed."

"Don't disturb me when I'm sleeping" Lacian murmured softly and tossed around and face the wall. Francis hissed as he clenched the blanket covering his legs.

'Stay calm' he thought and took notice of the cloth on his lap.

'Plan' he thought carefully. He quickly grabbed the blanket and threw it in front of Aaron. Aaron got distracted with the cloth and he quickly sliced the cloth into pieces. The the torn clothings tossed in the air like confettis and Francis grabbed the chance to kick Aaron on the neck.

"You are finished!" Aaron cast and swayed his sword multiple times. He got lost sight of the Ace's disciple and his eyes quickly checked the whole room.

"Hey! Why are we running away?!" Lacian shouted as the two of them were running beside the rails. The drooling master was still yawning during the whole run.

"What are we supposed to do?! I can't fight him as of now! I'm no match for him so I decided to run!" Francis explained loudly while gripping Lacian's wrist tightly.

"And why are you dragging me with you?! I can fight him, you know that" Lacian said; obviously.

"I'm not that stupid and a bastard. I can't just leave you behind and fight that ninja for my sake!" Francis said while panting. The two of them hid behind a huge delivery truck and rested. Francis kept glancing towards the direction where they came from -making sure that they were not followed.

"Why do people keep finding you to kill you?" Francis asked. He slid down and leaned his back on the large wheel.

"For you to ask that kind of question, it sounds like you're not one of them." Lacian said sarcastically. Francis gasped, he assumed that Lacian thought of him differently.

"Hey! I'm not one of them!" he denied, he swore he wasn't.

"Really" Lacian responded. Remembering the previous fights he had with Francis, the attempts he tried to finish Lacian's life, Lacian smiled bitterly.

"Then why do you keep following me before? You keep appearing from nowhere with your amateur attacks. And here you are now, insisting yourself on me to be my disciple." Lacian chuckled as she slid down beside Francis too.

"Fine, I guess I should just tell you." Francis said. He bowed his head and started playing with the pebbles from the ground.

"I first saw you when you were driving a motorcycle, you were so cool for a girl. Using my bike, I followed you until you ended up in a wide deadend in the city. On that large place you were having negotiations with men in black suits. I hid behind a large trash can and listened to your deal. They were syndicates who pay you for not exposing them to the government. I got intrigued by what kind of person you are so I asked my father ;who was a part of the government's highest armed forces. Then, I discovered that you were a spy and the government pays you two times to be on their side. That's why, I knew you were not a bad person at all. For that reason, I want to know more about you. But being your successful disciple is also my goal." Francis said. Lacian has been feeling uncomfortable with the surroundings. She was no longer interested in listening to Francis. She knew she was not hallucinating or imagining things.

"Also-"

"Sshh!" Lacian shushed and frowned. She could hear the footsteps, the metallic weights 'they' were carrying. Guns.

"Damn it" she cursed as sweat started to roll down from her forehead.

'Ten? No! There are about a hundred men, ten approaching in thirty seconds with shot guns, ten men will come after every minute. Ten snipers standing by from different approximate distances. This is an ambush!' Lacian thought as she pictured out every enemy's current location and positions.

"Hey! What's going on, Ace?!"  Francis began to panic as he saw Lacian being a little nervous for the first time. The lady looked paler and uncomfortable.

"Does your wound hurt?" Francis asked. He noticed that Lacian's waist started to bleed again. Lacian knew that the men were not the syndicates but the people of the government.

'Why am I being ambushed?!' Lacian asked herself, her thoughts could almost be heard. She couldn't remember a reason that would make the government to hunt her down.

"Listen to me, boy. When I say run, you run towards that direction, got it?" Lacian said and pointed the  building from a distance where there was no sniper, she knew that those soldiers would never hurt an innocent civilian like Francis.

"And don't you ever look back or else the snipers will shoot you" Lacian added.

"What about you?!" Francis shouted when Lacian sat back and leaned backwards.

"I will run behind you, idiot!" Lacian lied and pretended to be in running position. She inhaled deeply and released a heavy exhale.

"RUN!!" Lacian shouted and Francis ran instantly without looking back whether Lacian was running behind him or not. Lacian stopped in the open ground and lifted her head. She looked at the sniper's direction opposite to where Francis had ran off to. She looked at the sniper sharply as if she was saying that she knew he was there. Lacian gave him the middle finger and sneered. The sniper gulped instinctively as he saw Lacian's smirking face directly looking back at him from a very far.

"Bring it on!" Lacian shouted and her eyes suddenly turned light gray like ashes, and the ten approaching men suddenly acted like they were possesed. They screamed like they were in terrible pain and their eyes started bleeding nonstop. Lacian felt a little dizzy and her visions were getting a bit unclear. The following ten men rushed towards Lacian and attacked her in a synchronizing formation. They encircled the dangerous beast, their guns pointing at her -ready to blow the insides of her brain if she dares to move a finger.

"That's not gonna work, boys" Lacian smirked and put on the headphone on her ears. She pressed the volume and turned its  volume to minimized state. She focused on listening to the sounds created by the tiny ants and insects on the ground, the sharp roar of the lions and tigers from the nearby zoo, the sound of the eagle from the sky and all the kinds of sound she could gather.

"What's going on?!" one of the soldiers shouted when the ground began shaking. For all Lacian's life, it was the most ear piercing sounds she heard at once. A powerful energy was created by Lacian's indefinite hearing sense. A phenomenal sound echoed through the whole city which affected all the living things' life in the area. Lacian had gone berserk that she couldn't stop.  Right before her eyes were the corpse of her victims, bleeding eyes and ears, helplessly lying on the ground. Lacian calmed down when she heard nothing but the silence caused by death. She looked around and used her indefinite sight, her tears instantly fell when she realized what she had done. The city that she used to live in and protected was dead, they were all dead. With just one frightening and destructive sound, the whole city blew up because of the indefinite energy caused by Lacian's made vibration. Cracked roads, broken glasses, collapsed buildings and properties were everywhere. The whole city that the rat loved was destroyed in just merely 60 seconds.
