Chapter 22 - The Competition Begins

Chapter 22 The Competition Begins

The ringing of the bells was deafening.

As the bells rang, the misty stands erupted in cheers.

There was a bloodthirsty roar, and a sharp squall was mixed in with the cheers.

The huge crystal hourglass in the sky began to clock as it reversed.

Glistening sand passed through the funnel, and a glowing sand thread fell to the bottom.

Although the falling sand remained at the bottom, the faint light attached to it continued to slide down.

The faint light landed in the middle of the arena and intertwined.

It condensed into a two-meter-tall, thin, and faceless man. The joints of its limbs seemed to be designed for activity.

With two short swords in both arms, it staggered toward Kane.

A puppet construct?

Kane didn’t hesitate. He shook his wrist at it.

Two spider threads wrapped around the puppet’s legs.

A hard pull.

The puppet collapsed in a cloud of dust.

The fallen puppet tried to struggle to its feet with its mechanical stiff limbs, but the joints of its legs were tied together by the spider threads just now, making its already stiff movements even more mechanical.

So weird. Was it that weak?

Although the puppet was thin and weak, it was made of steel.

Kane didn’t use much effort at all, but the puppet fell.

But this was a battle. Since it was down, it might as well leave quietly.

He released his magic and a transparent bow appeared in his hand.

He bent his bow and shot an arrow at the puppet trying to struggle up from the ground.

The transparent arrow tore through the sky and stabbed the puppet’s head.

The puppet, which had just adjusted its position and was about to stand up, was hit by the arrow. It tilted its faceless head and fell to the ground. A hole suddenly appeared in its head, and dark liquid flowed down the smooth

face.

The puppet seemed to have short-circuited. Its limbs twitched for a moment, then stopped moving completely, as if it had run out of power.

But the body did not disappear.

Why?

Whatever. More puppets were forming in the

arena.

This time, five puppets appeared in the open space. Two were holding shields, two were holding guns, and the last one was holding a crossbow.

A reasonable classic configuration.

However, if they were still as weak as the puppet just now, a few more would only take a little more effort.

This time, Kane was still the first to attack.

He waved his hand and threw out a large spider web. A ball of spider silk shot out from his wrist and spread out in midair. The tenacious spider web stuck firmly to the four melee puppets in front of him.

The spear-wielding puppets, who were half a step behind, tried to break free from the web. The backward force pulled down the shield-wielding puppets in front, and together, all four were pressed to the ground.

The disorderly struggle of the four puppets made the spiderweb wrap around them perfectly.

However, Kane did not immediately kill the fallen puppets. Instead, he bent his bow and fired a series of arrows at the puppet carrying the crossbow.

Long-range damage should be prioritized.

The long-range puppet was slowly loading its crossbow, not at all concerned about whether its teammates in front of it could keep itself safe.

A sudden impact interrupted him.

Three holes appeared in his head, and some iron pieces shot out with the black liquid.

Seeing that his attack had hit the target, Kane used his magic to create a sledgehammer in the air.

He charged at the struggling melee puppet on the ground.

With the help of the tempered steel, the transparent sledgehammer created was like a thousand-pound hammer to the enemy.

And Kane could swing it easily because the weight of the hammer was like an inflatable to him.

The four puppets in front of him were trapped in the spiderweb and were still fluttering their mechanical arms to break free.

Kane didn’t hold back.

He swung his hammer vigorously at the two shield-wielding puppets at the front.

The spiderweb dissipated. The puppets tried to dodge, but it was too late.

The two puppets were sent flying into the air with their shields.

The puppets in the air used their thin bodies to withstand the huge impact, and didn’t have the chance to use the shield in its hand.

The puppet that had fallen to the ground had long lost its human form. It was surrounded by parts that had scattered on the ground.

It was smashed to pieces on the ground, like an assembled Gundam that had been thrown.

Kane ignored the two puppets that flew out.

Instead, it smashed down hard on the other two puppets, who were getting up from the ground.

The impact of the huge hammer hit them hard.

There was a sickening sound. The two puppets did not resist. They were smashed to the ground, causing dust to rise.

As the hammer was transparent, the tragic state of the two puppets was clearly visible. They looked like Lego toys that had been smashed to the ground and stepped on hard.

Without the main body, there were only parts left.

There were loud cheers from the audience.

As if provoked by such cruelty,

their voices reeked of bloodlust and cruelty.

Such cheers were truly ear-piercing.

He was like a wild beast being admired.

What an annoying sound.

He slowly retreated to his previous seat and waited quietly for the next wave.

This time the hourglass was not in a hurry to cast a glimmer. Instead, it waited a while before continuing.

Give people time to rest? How considerate.

A powerless beast could not bring about a good performance.

The blue shimmer fell again.

A sturdy figure more than three meters tall was condensing

The heavy armor on its body began to solidify, and the puppet holding the two huge axes revealed its full appearance.

As soon as it manifested, it carried its axes and strode forward, charging at Kane.

It seemed that the other party would attack first this time.

Kane stood his ground and did not hurry. Instead, he raised his spear at the Giant Ax Puppet.

The Giant Ax Puppet raised its ax hard, ready to cut Kane’s head off as soon as it got close. That is, if he could really get close.

With a loud bang, the Giant Ax Puppet’s charge was interrupted. He slammed into the

air.

The shock wave from the impact was visible in the air.

Bearing the impact, the wall of air broke apart for the first time.

Of course, the Giant Ax Puppet paid the corresponding price. A portion of his outer armor was immediately shattered, revealing the fragile parts inside.

The wall of air was always effective against such straightforward enemies.

But the opportunity Kane had been waiting for was right in front of him.

He took a step, raised his waist, and gripped his spear with both hands. ‘Block the sky.’

He gathered all his strength into this attack.

He stabbed the puppet, which was already marked with the mark of a traitor.

The extreme penetration and unprotected abdomen made it impossible to block the sky.

Just for a moment.

The white spear tip pierced all the way through and finally protruded from the back of the puppet’s head.

The tip of the spear was stained with a black liquid that looked like engine oil.

The spear was pulled out.

The Giant Ax Puppet knelt on the ground and supported itself with both axes. The huge holes spewed out liquid and golden metal fragments.

“I don’t know if you understand me, but you’re not strong enough.”

He waved the spear shaft and sprinkled the black liquid on it.

A deafening roar filled his ears.
