When XuanRong arrived at the Fourth Branch's courtyard, she saw her Eldest JiuMu and Second JiuMu sitting together with her maternal grandfather, Chen Zi Tao.

XuanRong could not help but call Chen Zi Tao's name when she saw how devastated he was. His face seemed like it got older by ten long years. Looking at her grandfather's sunken eyes and unenergetic face, XuanRong's heart felt like thousands of pins were pricking her heart. "Rong'er, you've come?"

Chen Zi Tao's eyes returned its glimmer as he stared at his only granddaughter. He raised his hand, beckoning XuanRong to move forward.

"XuanRong greets Maternal Grandfather, Eldest JiuMu and Second JiuMu." Before moving forward, XuanRong made sure to show her filial piety. She bent her knees and bobbed, showing curtsy.

Chen Zi Tao waved his hand, indicating to end it.

"No need to curtsy. We are family. Come, grandfather and your maternal aunts in law are glad to see you."

XuanRong stood up and walked towards the three. They were sitting at the table outside the outer room. Since the condition of Fourth Chen Furen and her unborn child was still critical, no one was allowed to enter the room and disturb the imperial physician. Thus, the three could only sit outside the outer room and wait for the result.

One of the servants carried a chair and a new set of tea cup, allowing XuanRong to sit together with her aunts in law and her maternal grandfather. Eldest Chen Furen stretched her arms and grabbed XuanRong's hands. Her eyes were misty and red, indicating that she had cried not long ago.

'Imperial Physician Gong. Why is he here instead of maternal grandfather's closest friend, Imperial Physician Xi?'

Imperial Physician Gong was the Emperor's trusted physician. He was the head of the entire medical hall of the Palace. Since XuanRong had a hunch that the one who wanted to harm her Fourth JiuMu was the Emperor, it would only mean that Imperial Physician Gong was up to no good and was not planning to save both the mother and child.

In her previous lifetime, the one who attended her Fourth JiuMu was Imperial Physician Xi. He was her maternal grandfather's closest friend. But how come in this lifetime, instead of Imperial Physician Xi, the one who was currently in the Chen residence was not him but Imperial Physician Gong?
