After a while, the young man came back into the room. Rain, who had the blankets pulled tightly up to her neck, looked at him with curious eyes. She had not taken a good look at him before, but upon a second look, he was very handsome. Alex felt a set of eyes on him and looked over at Rain, whose cheeks turned red as she quickly averted her eyes and looked down. He smiled and shook his head as he walked over and placed the porridge to the side. "Eat while it is still warm. I will be back. I need to head to the nearest town and get you some robes. While you can't wear the clothes you were wearing before, you can wear some loose-fitting robes. So for now, stay under the blankets to keep warm."
Rain looked up at the young man who was looking back at her with sincere eyes and nodded her head. Alex smiled and turned around, and walked back towards the door. But his feet paused when he heard a soft voice from behind him. "Thank you..."
"You are welcome. Go ahead and eat before it gets cold." Alex said before leaving the room and closing the door.
Rain listened closely and heard Alex leave the cottage before reaching over and picking up the bowl of porridge. The heat from the bowl and the steam entering her nose slowly calmed her nerves. It was the first time in her life she had ever talked so much with a man she did not know. Although she was currently in an awkward situation, she felt that Alex truly meant her no harm. She picked up the spoon in the bowl and scooped up some porridge, and blew on it gently before sticking it in her mouth. Her lips slightly curled up as the sweet taste permeated throughout her mouth. "It's good."
Alex made haste to the town and reached there in no time. He had a complex look on his face as he walked into one of the clothing stores. He had never bought things for girls before as he was someone who wholeheartedly put his everything into learning medicine. "Sir, can I help you?"
"Yes… Umm… I need robes for a female with black hair and purple eyes. She has a petite figure, but she is currently hurt, so it has to be bigger than normal..." Alex was having difficulties trying to explain things, causing the shop worker to giggle.
"I have just the thing. We have some lighter colors here. This mild teal color here would be a nice contrast, or you can go with a darker blue here. Also, we have..."
"These white ones..." For some reason, when he laid eyes on the white robes, he could picture Rain wearing them. They seemed perfect for her. When he remembered her clear, pure eyes, he could not see her wearing anything else but white.
"She is a lucky girl." The shop worker said with a smile before picking up the robes. She went to go to the register but stopped when she saw Alex staring at another item on display. "Sir?"
"That dress and hat too..." As a doctor who had seen Rain naked, he could tell her body proportions with a single glance, and the dress that he was looking at would fit her perfectly. Although she could not wear it just yet, he figured she would need something to wear when she is fully healed.
The shop worker smiled and said: "I will wrap it up for you as well."
After leaving the shop with a large package in his arms, he realized he had just spent a ton of money on a girl he had just met. He stopped and looked down at the package and thought that maybe he should return some of it, but when he thought about Rain sitting in his house so badly hurt with nothing to wear, he shook his head and continued running down the street. "Alex, something must be wrong with you."
When he got home, he ran into a situation he did not expect to run into…
A little earlier…
Rain finished the bowl of porridge and set the empty bowl down on the table. As time passed and she sat there doing nothing, she kept sneaking peeks at the bowl next to her. "I should at least return it to the kitchen, right?"
Rain felt that her body should be able to get there and back quickly. This was what she thought. After wrapping her body up in the blanket and picking up the bowl, Rain scooted herself to the side of the bed and went to stand up. A wave of dizziness suddenly consumed her, and all the strength in her body seemed to have disappeared as she fell towards the floor. The blanket she had wrapped around her slid down to her waist, leaving her upper body exposed to the chilly air.
Rain struggled to try to get up, but she was unable to gather any strength at all. Tears began to well up in her eyes. She did not wish to be seen like this! But before she could even think of any ideas to fix her situation, the door to the room opened, and Alex walked in to see her staring wide-eyed back at her!
"What are you doing!? I told you that you shouldn't get up!" Rain never expected the young man to speak out in anger and concern. He even tossed what was in his hands to the side and rushed over to her scooping her up into his arms. Her entire upper body was exposed, but Rain realized he did not look at her once. He only looked her in the eyes as he placed her back in the bed and pulled the blanket back up over her. "Please rest. If you move too much, the poison will activate again."
"Sorry..." Rain blushed and lowered her eyes. She had never been this embarrassed before. But she felt a warm surge in her heart knowing he was worried about her.
"It's fine I should have explained better. Hold on, I will help you get a robe on. It should help keep you warm."
