Chapter 613: Sudden Breakthrough

The two ended up staying in the cave for the entire day. Kana watched as Liu Na worked the rock lion's hide into two robes with hoods. She also made two sets of undershirts and panties so that they had clean clothes to wear. She had added in buttons on the back of Kana's robes so her wings would fit but also still keep Kana warm. She did the same for Kana's tail so it would slide through easily and not leave any space around it. 

"Nana, you're the best!" Kana hugged Liu Na. She was truly amazed at Liu Na's skill and the fact that Liu Na took into consideration her special body features. While Kana hugged Liu Na, Liu Na blushed. She was not used to so much skinship and being praised like this.

With the new clothes done, Kana and Liu Na changed, settled down for the night, and began cultivating in shifts. Liu Na allowed Kana to cultivate first while she kept watch just in case anything happened. They were no longer estimating this place, so taking turns keeping watch was the best way to manage things. 

Liu Na was bored. She sat next to Kana, who was in a deep cultivative state, and looked at her. She felt a funny sensation in her heart as she looked at Kana. She didn't understand what was going on with her, but she couldn't help but smile as she gazed upon Kana's pretty face. It was small and round. She had a nose that was just the right size and a pair of plump lips. Liu Na's hand raised, her finger extending out as she reached up to trace her finger along Kana's lips. But just before it got there, her hand froze, and her face turned bright red. She was wondering what the hell had just come over her! She almost did something indecent to her good friend! Liu Na quickly retracted her hand and buried her face in her knees. Her mind was in utter chaos at this time.

As for Kana, she was immersed in her cultivation and had no idea she had almost been taken advantage of by Liu Na. She was concentrating on the spiritual qi around her. All different kinds of elements were being sucked into her body.  She could feel every inch of her body being nourished by the spiritual qi. They were growing stronger with each infusion. While this process was slow, she could still feel her power rising.

On the outside, Kana's body started to become covered in a hazy white mist. Liu Na, who was sitting beside her, felt the spiritual qi in the air seemed to be vibrating, causing her to lift her head. When she saw the hazy white mist around Kana, she quickly gave Kana some space since she knew this was a sign of a breakthrough. Liu Na's eyes opened wide as she watched the hazy white mist condense into a thick cloud of spiritual qi as Kana rapidly sucked it into her body. Such a scene was rare when someone was cultivating, even if they were breaking through. 

Kana suddenly felt a huge surge of power explode within her body as if a dam broke, causing her strength to rise by leaps and bounds. A smile spread across her lips as she knew she had just broken through. 

As the spiritual qi around her gradually dissipated, Kana's eyes opened as she let out a breath of air. "Body fortification stage three. Not bad."  Kana clenched her fist. She did indeed feel much stranger than before.

"Congratulations." Liu Na said happily. Breaking through could be easy or tough, depending so every breakthrough, even at early stages, was a thing to be happy about.

"Thanks. I still have a ways to go though. How long did it take you to reach qi gathering?" Kana asked as she stretched her arms.

"For me, it took three years, I think? Senior Brother Yi took two years, and Senior Sister Yu took a year and a half. Compared to most, she was a genius to start with. Her only thing was her age was lacking compared to Senior Brother Yi. Although once you make it past body fortification, breaking through to new stages and realms begins to slow down. " Liu Na explained. 

"Then I will try to make it to qi gathering in a year!" Kana decided. She would set a year to become a qi gathering realmed cultivator. She didn't realize that with her beast core, she was already a qi gathering realmed cultivator.

"You still have time before it is time for you to take your shift if you still wish to rest a little." Liu Na knew it had only been a few hours, so she wanted Kana to try to get more rest if she could.

"Then I will take you up on that offer." Kana was not polite and plopped her head down in Liu Na's lap and closed her eyes. This caught Liu Na by surprise, but she still smiled gently at Kana without making a fuss. She even reached down and tucked a lock of Kana's hair behind her ear. After doing so, though, she quickly retracted her hand before she did something weird like before.

A few hours later, it was Liu Na's turn to cultivate. Kana took this chance to check out the beast cores that Liu Na handed her earlier. She was unsure of how she was supposed to use them.  "Am I supposed to eat them?" 

Kana took one and sniffed it. Both cores were brown in color, representing their element. As they were rock lions, they were of the earth element. Kana found that they did not really smell like anything. Curious, she stuck her tongue out and licked it. At first, she thought it would taste nasty, but to her surprise, it tasted sweet. While the cores were small hard, round, smooth objects, the sizes of them were no bigger than some large candy. She popped it into her mouth and tried to bite into it. But to her surprise, once again, her teeth sunk into it as if they were jello, and before she knew it, it melted in her mouth and flowed down her throat. A warm sensation filled her body and she felt the power from the core wrapping around her core merging into it. "Oh? I feel a bit strong." This made Kana smile as she popped the other core in her mouth.
