Chapter 625: Fat Juicy Worm

"Haaaaah… Haah… I thought I was going to die!" Kana gasped for breath. She was exhausted no matter how strong her body was, after running for two days and two nights, there was no way she wouldn't be tired. If she was her old self, this would be no issue but right now… She was weak!  With her hands on her knees and her body bent over, Kana regained her breath. "Now I need to figure out where I am.."

Kana could hear loud roars off in the distance still, and the ground would still shake now and then,  which told her the two ancient beasts were still fighting. She climbed up the nearest tree and looked out over the treetops. "Let's see… "

Her face sank when she looked around and saw how deep in the forest she was. Not only that but she was surrounded by mountains on all sides and had no idea which mountain was the one she should be trying to get to. The past few days, she had gotten completely lost after running from the demonic beasts. So finding herself so far out was not out of her expectations, but her hopes for not being far from where she was before had been completely lost.

"Hey!"

Kana let out a long sigh and began to ponder on what she was going to do next. "Should I just wander around and look for opportunities?"

"Hey, girl!"

Scratching her head, Kana stood up and tried to see if she could see anything worthwhile to head towards. She scanned the area looking around in hopes of spotting something out of place. "Trees and more trees. Can't this place have something cool to check out?"

"Hey! Stupid girl!"

"I mean, how many years has this place been here, and all I see is.."

"Hey, girl in the tree! I know you can hear me!"

Kana frowned as she yelled out: "Can you shut up? I am trying to think her… Wait!? Someone is talking to me!?"

Kana looked around and did not see anything. So she was highly confused. She could have sworn she heard a voice just now, but she did not see anything or anyone.

"Look down!" The voice once again yelled out. Kana looked down and on her thigh was a small caterpillar.

"Eh? A bug?" Kana frowned once again and went to flick the bug off her thigh when she heard the voice again.

"What are you doing!? Stupid girl, don't you dare flick me!" It was only now that Kana noticed that the voice was actually coming from the caterpillar. What amazed her, even more, was how domineering it was acting as he rose up on its tail and, with its stubby front legs, placed them on its hips and yelled.

"You can talk!? Wait… I'm a dragon, and I can talk, so I guess for a shitty bug to be able to talk, it should be normal." Kana said while scratching her head. She didn't like worm looking creatures much. Not after eating white wormy creatures in her past life.

"Pfft, what dragon!? All I see is a weak divine beast! Anyway, girl, you should get out of here. With your cultivation, you will never be able to survive in the forest core. All the demonic beasts of rank nine and higher live here. There are even some divine beasts and ancient beasts as well. Normally I wouldn't say anything, but I can see you seem to be lost. Anyway, I said what I wanted to say, so I will be off." The little worm

*Rumble!*

Kana frowned and held her stomach. She just now realized that she had not eaten anything the past few days. She looked at the fat juicy worm that was slowly crawling towards the leaf near her leg and licked her lips… The caterpillar felt like something was off after hearing the rumble and turned to look at Kana, who was looking at it like it was a piece of meat and felt a chill run down its squishy body. "Wait a minute! You won't get much out of eating me!"

"But…" In Kana's eyes at this moment, the big juicy worm was like a small chicken. She bit her finger as she stared at it, deciding whether or not to eat it.

The caterpillar was really starting to get scared. It stood up on its tail and waved its stubby legs back and forth. "No! No ! Wait! If you don't eat me, I can take you to an ancient temple! Just don't eat me!"

"Temple!?" Kana's eyes widened. Her mind swayed, she decided not to eat the little worm for now. "Alright, take me there, but if you're lying…" Kana licked her lips. She had no idea how strong the demonic beasts were around here and did not know if she would be able to get anything good to eat for the time being. So this fat juicy worm was her only secure source of food at present, even if it was only a few centimeters long. To call it a meal was an overstatement, but it was something that she could at least snack on it needed be, even if she disliked wormy type creatures.

"No-no! I would never lie when my life is on the line!" The worm was upfront about being scared. It really did not wish to be eaten! But it could not help but curse its luck. It had decided to go for a short trip around the forest, and when it decided to finally talk to someone, it turned out to be a crazy girl who would eat caterpillars! The poor little caterpillar could only shed tears as it slowly climbed up onto Kana's shoulder to show her that it did not intend to escape. It was too slow to try to run anyway.

Kana went to climb down from the tree, but as she stepped on one of the branches. She felt a slimy sensation on her foot and the next thing she knew, she was falling down with gusto! She never expected that one of the trees would have some strange slippery fluid on it! "Ahhh!"
