After feeling Kana's killing intent, no one dared to ask her to fly over the gap any longer. They all went to work, searching the surroundings looking for a way to cross. It was just that the walls on the side were all smooth with no way to cling onto it. Even Zhong Liuxian was unable to punch a hole in the rock. It seemed to have all been protected by some kind of array. "What do we do? There seems to be no way to cross the gap."
People started to complain now that they couldn't figure out how to cross. They were starting to think this test was actually a scam. Only four people stood off to the side, with one sitting down cross legged staring out over the gap. When one of the disciples saw this, they seemed to have grown some courage as they yelled: "Were you not the one telling us to figure out the trick!? Why are you just sitting there not doing anything!?"
Kana did not answer the person as she rose to her feet and bent over to grab some of the dirt from the ground. She then walked to the edge of the gap and stood there looking out over it. Her lips curled up as she turned her head and looked at the young man who had yelled out. "Why am I not doing anything? But I was. Paying attention to every detail is how you solve this part of the trial. While you all were looking at the other aspects of the area, I was paying attention to the gap itself. I say, would you like to make a bet with me?"
"A bet?" The young man was confused. "What kind of bet would you like to make? You act as if you have solved this already without even doing anything."
"Then let's bet that if we join the sect that all your and my resources for an entire year will go to the other who wins, how is that?" Kana asked with a smile.
The young man paused and did not dare to accept right away but a person behind him suddenly spoke up. "Of course, he will bet! If all of us couldn't figure it out, how could you?"
Egged on by the other disciple, the young man raised his chin and said: "Fine, I will bet!"
"Okay. But let me remind you that if you try to run, unless you do not get into the sect, I will take what belongs to me." Kana said before tossing some of the dirt in her hand out in front of her. Everyone watched as the dirt seemed to land on something in front of her while some fell off into the abyss below. Their eyes rounded when they saw this. The young man who had just bet Kana froze in place. He clenched his fist and wished he could find a small place to crawl into and hide. If he really did pass the trial, he would be stuck without any resources for an entire year!
Kana did not even need to look at the young man to see what his face looked like as she stepped out onto the spot where the dirt had landed. As soon as she stood on the spot in mid-air, the area under her foot lit up, revealing a small path from where she stood to the edge of the ledge. Kana then turned and looked at the young man as she said: "If you pass, remember my resources."
The young man felt depressed. He turned and glared at the other disciple who accepted the bet in his place, forcing him to take it on. He would make sure to deal with the young man later. But now, he had no choice but to hold it in. He did not dare anger the demon girl in front of him. He had felt her killing intent and knew better than to anger her anymore.
With the whole group working together mapping out the path to the other side Kana and the rest were able to pass the first section of the trial with little effort once they understood the concept. On the other side, they were met with another long tunnel that led to another room. This room was much different than the last, and the conditions were a complete turnaround from the previous rooms. "It's hot!"
"Look, lava!" Someone yelled out.
All the disciples walked into the room to see another gap, but this one was filled with molten lava. They knew if they fell in, they would definitely end up dying. "Why is it we did not feel the heat in the tunnel?"
"Look!" Another disciple yelled.
Everyone turned around to the entrance they had just come through had disappeared. Kana stood there and felt it was odd that she felt perfectly fine. She didn't feel hot at all. While she was forging, she would feel hot and even sweat, but in this room, the heat did not seem to bother her, even if the heat was making the others sweat. She seemed to feel that something was off. Curious, Kana walked over to the edge where the boiling lava was and reached out her hand but was quickly pulled back.
"What are you doing!?" Fei yelled as she looked at Kana in shock. She wondered just what was going on in Kana's head to actually try to touch the lava!
"Hmm? Fei? Just watch." Kana said with a smile before reaching out again. This time she did stick her finger in the lava, and Fei, who had once again tried to stop Kana, stood frozen when Kana submerged her whole hand into it, and nothing happened. "See, it's not hot."
Fei had invisible question marks above her head as she knelt down next to Kana and, with some hesitation, finally copied Kana and stuck a finger in and then a hand. "Wha…?"
"This lava is an illusion. I do not know if it is just me or what, but, although I see lava, i can not feel any heat. Nor do I feel the air is hot. If it was hot it would burn your senses but I feel none of that. This tells me what we are seeing must not be real. If I am right this might just be a pool of water. I will go first and try to swim to the other side, stay here." Kana said as she unhooked her sword from her waist just in case before diving into the Lava.
"What is she doing!?" Some yelled out when they saw Kana jumping into the lava. They all thought she was crazy!
