Kana never thought of that. She always had her own idea of what a leader should be like. But after Fei mentioned it, that was highly possible. She was someone who was always self-sacrificing to help those in need and had always been her main way of thinking. She had lived through many lives and had many hardships, so to her, being kind and helping others came naturally. Kana sighed. She realized her major flaw, or more like a habit she couldn't seem to break, but at the same time, she decided it was something that made her, her. "I will just need to be more careful, is all…."
"Kana?" Fei thought she heard Kana speak but did not hear what she had said.
"It's nothing. I am just giving myself a reminder. Let's keep moving forward. Stay behind me so you will not be too affected by the cold." Kana said while she kept moving forward. Strength was found not in just one's physical ability but also in one's mind and actions. While one person could be seen as righteous for helping everyone while standing in the front and taking on the brunt of whatever was being thrown at them, someone else in the same position who stood in the back could be seen in the same light by only those who had survived. It all came down to perspective. This whole experience was good for her in reminding her to be careful in her decisions from this moment on.
The field of ice was a large expanse, and the trip from one side to the other took almost three hours. During this time, the hopeful disciples worked together, alternating the outside ring around so not everyone was stuck out facing the cold. Those with fire techniques would also rotate into the group to warm up some before going right back out to hold their side. They were all enduring working as one, and this was all because of one person. The person who had yet to move from the front of the group and walked for hours on end until they finally reached the other side where the exit of this hellish frozen land resided. Kana stood at the entrance and began waving people through. "Hurry up and enter the tunnel! Do not exit the other side, only get into the tunnel and move to a warmer part. Group up and wait for me before moving forward. Fan and Zhong go check the other side."
Kana held her flame in front of her, her lips starting to turn blue. Fei, who was at her side, was also starting to turn purple on her nose, ears, and fingers. "Fei, get going. I will be there soon."
"But…." Fei was hesitant but soon found herself being pushed into the tunnel entrance. She looked up to see Kana smile at her before going back to giving out orders. She could only bite her bottom lip in frustration before turning around and following the group.
Kana stood at the entrance until the last person went through. Only then did she enter the tunnel. When they got about half away, the tunnel began to warm up drastically, and Kana could finally feel some relief. Although the hopeful disciples had begun calling her boss out of nowhere. "Out of the way, let Boss through!"
Someone yelled, causing the group of hopeful disciples to part like the red sea. Kana made her way to the front where Fan Sengya and Zhong Liuxian were standing talking to each other. "Miss beautiful!" Fan Sengya yelled out as Kana arrived. At the same time, Fei seemed to come out of nowhere and stood at Kana's side.
"Miss Beautiful, Brother Zhong and I did as you asked and ran ahead to check out the next room… It's just that I think we might be in trouble. But at the same time, I think it is also the last room." Fan Sengya suddenly announced.
"Oh? What is in the room that makes it so hard?" Kana asked.
"There are three things wrong with the room. First, it is a wind lightning room. Strong winds that can cut the skin and lightning strikes are all over the place. The wind is strong to the point that we may end up dying just from that. The lightning seems to be striking the ground randomly, but there are multiple strikes at a time, and there is no telling where it will land.
"Second is that there are demonic beasts in there. Each one is at least rank two. And lastly, although the room is small, there is a long skinny bridge that connects the other side of the test to this side. There are also large wind gusts that violently bounce the bridge up and down. I do not think it will hold much weight either, so we will have to cross only a few at a time." Fan Sengya explained.
Kana frowned and fell into deep thought. "Wind, lightning, and demonic beasts…. On top of that, the bridge is not sturdy. This might be tricky… Zhong, gather all the strongest amongst us."
"Right away, benefactor." Zhong Liuxian quickly ran off to do as Kana asked while Kana began formulating a plan.
"Fan, how many do you think the bridge can hold?" Kana asked. It was a very important question as it would be how they separated the groups.
"At most, maybe five. I would say four to be safe." Fan Sengya answered.
"And we have around forty people here…" Kana tapped her chin, trying to decide the best method. "This time around, we will be making teams of four. Myself and Fei will be in one team, Fan, you, and Zhong will need to lead two other teams, two boys and two girls per team. You guys will go first. Fei and I will take the weaker of the males along with us. My only concern is will the other truly be able to form a team together without fighting or abandoning their teammates…."
"Kana, I think you have done enough. The others should finally take a trial by themselves and pass it on their own." Fei chimed in. She knew Kana was most likely thinking of going back and forth, leading each group on her own.
"Fei is right.... But… I will say anyone who abandons their teammates will be tossed over the cliff."
