Chapter 118: Discovery In The Sand Part Three

Kana took each step with the utmost care. She did not want to notify anyone or anything of her presence. After a few minutes of slowly making her way to the end of the hall. Kana peeked around the corner to find the source of the blue light. But what she saw was far from what she expected. Sitting on a broken pedestal was a small blue figure. Kana could tell right off the bat that it was a female since it had too small mounds on its chest. But the strange thing was that the figure was semi-transparent. At first, Kana was about to scream because she thought it was a ghost, but when she noticed that the small blue figure had a shadow to it, she began to relax. When Kana took a better look at the small blue figure, she noticed that it seemed to be made of liquid of some kind.

"Who's there!?" The blue figure suddenly spoke up in a child-like voice as it looked in Kana's direction. Her actions were so sudden that Kana didn't even have time to hide. The blue figure seemed to freeze upon seeing Kana. Her big dark blue eyes shimmered under the light the small blue figure was giving off.

Seeing how she had been discovered, Kana stepped out of her hiding spot and into the big room. She smiled at the small blue figure as she greeted it. "Hello."

The small blue figure did not say anything back and just stared at Kana in disbelief. It seemed it was trying to figure out if it should reply or not. Only after a few minutes of the two staring at each other did the small blue figure finally reply. "Hello… Are you really real, or am I seeing things?"

"I am real. As real as I can get anyway. Are you here all alone?" Kana spoke in a soft voice in order to not scare the small blue figure. She could tell that the small blue figure seemed to be a little afraid of her. This was normal, seeing how she was ten times bigger than the small blue figure.

"So, I am not seeing things..." The small blue figure mumbled, ignoring Kana's question altogether.

Once again, the two entered a staring contest of sorts where neither of them spoke. "May I ask who you are?" Kana finally broke the silence. She couldn't stand the whole staring contest thing anymore.

"I am me… who else would I be?" The little blue figure answered while tilting its head to the side, staring at Kana with a confused expression.

Kana didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the little blue figure's answer. "No, I mean, what is your name?"

"A name? I do not understand..." The little blue figure once again gave Kana a confused look.

"Mmm... A name is what people would call you. Like my name is Kana. People call my name when they wish to speak to me. It is how we differentiate between each other and makes it easier to call out someone from a crowd." Kana explained the best she could. She hoped her explanation was good enough for the little blue figure to understand.

"Name… Name..." The little blue figure kept repeating these words. After a few minutes of contemplation, she turned to Kana and said: "Give me a name..."

"You wish for me to name you?" Kana asked just to be sure. Although she already had a name in mind.

"Yes. I do not know what to call myself. So it would be better for someone else to name me, and since it is just you and I here that only leaves you." The little blue finger explained.

"Then how about Aoi?" Kana chose Aoi due to the small blue figure being blue in color.

"Aoi… Aoi… So from now on, I will be known as Aoi..." Aoi clasped her little hands together as she brought them to her chest. A smile appeared on her face as her body began to glow brightly. "From now on, I, Aoi, will stay by your side..."

Aoi's body floated up off the pillar she was sitting on and flew over to Kana. Hovering right in front of her face. With a slight giggle, she tapped on the spot between Kana's brow, and with a flash of bright blue light, she disappeared.

*Ding!*

Aoi: Water Elemental

"So… I can now level up water dragon… Does this mean I will undergo an evolution every time I level up an elemental type? Wait, I got two additional things here…" Kana looked at the small Icon that said equip to the left side of where it said [Water Dragon Level]: 0/20. Not able to hold back her curiosity Kana tapped the equip button. To her surprise, Kana watched as her fiery red hair began to turn into a deep blue color. She scanned the rest of her body, and it was not just her hair that changed color, but also the scales on her tail began to turn blue as well.

She checked over her stats real quickly and let out a sigh of relief when she saw that they did not change. She did, however, notice that the equip button had now appeared next to where it said [Meteorite Dragon Level]: 35/200. She pressed the equip button again, and just like before, her hair changed color, but this time it went back to normal.

The other new thing she saw was the new section that said [Elemental Companions]. Below that was Aoi's name and a button next to it that said summon. Kana tapped the summon button, and right in front of her, Kana saw balls of water begin to form. Slowly but surely, these balls of water began to take on a small humanoid shape. When it was fully formed, Kana saw Aoi hovering in front of her with a smile on her face. She yelled out: "Kana!" before flying over to Kana's cheek and hugging it.
