Chapter 201: Trial Of Survival/Dronic Dungeon Part Eight

The young girl stared at Kana shaking in fear. She looked at Kana then at Mary. No matter where she looked, she saw beings that looked like a cross between monsters and humans. She was unsure if she could trust such beings. Seeing the girl shaking away and giving them wary looks, Kana let out a sigh. She knew she was not going to get any answers with the way this girl was acting right now. "Alright, let's set up camp…." 

The young girl watched as Kana and Mary busied themselves making camp. She did not dare leave in case the two beast girls decided to kill her. What frightened her even more, was the little blue floating humanoid that kept flying over and waving at her. Although they seem to be friendly, the young girl was becoming even more nervous when she saw the large fire pit that Kana was making. The main thought on the young girl's mind at this time was, 'They are not going to eat me, are they?'

As Kana finished setting up the cooking area, she lit the fire and stood up, and looked over at the young girl. "With your clothes like that, you should come sit by the fire. Although it will be a little warm, it will at least keep the bugs away." 

The young girl stared at Kana, unsure what to do. But after much deliberation, she got up and walked near the fire. She did not like being attacked by bugs either.  As time went by, the young girl began to have a feeling that the two beast girls were not going to harm her. She watched closely with drool dripping from her chin as Kana cooked up a large pig man leg.  Seeing this, Kana smiled and said: "It's almost done. You can have some too. There is plenty."

"Ah?" The young girl never expected Kana to offer her some food as well. Just thinking about eating anything at this time made the young girl's stomach rumble. Kana giggled as she tore off a huge chunk of meat and handed it to the girl. The girl's eyes became wide with hunger as she gratefully took the meat, completely letting her guard down. She took a bite of the juicy meat, and a bright smile formed on her face. 

"Is it good?" Kana asked with a smile.

The young girl blushed as she nodded her head as she shyly said: "Thank you..."

"Kana, I Just realized something..." Mary suddenly spoke up.

"What did you notice?" Kana asked.

"The translator has been broken for a while, but you are speaking fluently in my world's language..." Mary did not know what and never really thought to check, but the device that was being used as a way to allow her and Kana to speak to each other at some point had been badly damaged and stopped working altogether.

Kana paused and looked at Mary in surprise. She never even thought about it, but she realized she had been speaking this world language without realizing it.  She wondered if it had something to do with her high [Intelligence].

[Intelligence] 7305

"Well, it's a good thing I can. Otherwise, we would be in a bad spot. Now then…." After answering, Mary, Kana turned her attention to the young girl. "Can I at least get your name?"

"Jill..." The young girl answered.

"Then Jill, can I ask if there are more humans on this level?" Seeing how Jill was finally answering her, Kana felt it was time to get some answers from the girl.

"There is a small group of about one hundred of us. There were more, but recently our hiding spot was discovered by some of the orcs. They killed a bunch of the males and kidnapped a bunch of the women." Jill answered as she bit into the meat in her hands. It seems having some food had calmed Jill down a lot.

"I see… It is best to presume the females are already dead. Can I ask how you all came to be on this level?" Kana asked.

The meat in Jill's hand stopped in front of her lips as she lowered it. "From the stories passed down. Our ancestors escaped into the dungeon in order to be safe from the virus that was spreading throughout the world. Other than that, I do not know much more." 

"I see… What happened just now, then? Why were you being chased by that pig man? "From what Jill said, Kana figured the attack on her village happened a while ago. So that did not explain why Jill was currently running for her life.

"This..." Jill lowered her head and blushed. "I was going to be forced to marry my brother, so I decided to run away… The elders decided that because our population was quickly declining, especially after the last attack, we needed to marry early. And due to the lack of females, my father decided to have my brother and me marry each other… My father did not want our family line to end too quickly."

"I see… If I was you, I would run away as well." Kana understood about carrying on a family line but to force your daughter to marry her brother was a little…. "Well… Mary, what do you think?"

"Me? Well… If she goes back, she will be forced to marry her brother if she was willing to risk coming out all this way, even though at any time she could be captured and turned into a breeding tool for those pig men. Then it is safe to say she would rather do that than marry her brother. We could give her some food and point her towards the beach...  Anyway, now that we know there are other races here besides those pig men, we really can't burn the whole forest down now. Hey, little girl did you happen to see a large metal door anywhere?" Mary asked. She felt bad for the little girl but that was all. Since the girl did not ask for help, she was not going to offer.
