Chapter 481: Strange Ancient City Part 3

Kana went from building to building, trying to gather more evidence until she came to a strange building that, unlike the others, was fully made of metal and had only one entrance from what she could see. There were no windows or anything in this building. Just a single door that blended in with the building well. At first glance, you would not notice it unless you looked closely at it.

When she walked into the building, she saw a small receptionist counter and then a single door to the left. She first walked over to the counter to see only a few pieces of paper and some screens that should have been their computer system.  Finding nothing of interest, Kana moved on to the door, which seemed to be locked tight but with a bit of force… Ahem…  With a wiggle of the door knob, the door opened right up.

What laid before her was a white hallway. The air did not seem to be stagnant, which confused Kana with how long the place should have been closed up for. She opened the door to the first room to find an office. She walked in and went to the desk to look to see what she could find. "Hmm? Is this not the same picture as in that newspaper?"

It was a cube shaped object that looked just like the one in the picture about the invention that could teleport the planet to different places. Kana read the files for a little while before placing them down. "This seems to just be the theory of how it works. Sadly I can not make heads or tails of it, but I will keep these files just in case they can be useful to the people at the academy."

Kana left the room and went door to door as she had in the other buildings. Each room in this place, though, shed some light on the invention that was supposed to revolutionize the world. The more Kana thought about it, the more she felt that this whole world thing they were talking about was not possible since she was in a realm. "Wait…. What if this invention did not teleport the world itself but just a landmass…. No, if that was the case, there would be more signs of civilization, right?"

Although things were not really being pieced together well, Kana was still having fun investigating things. She felt like a certain famous detective Merlock Bolmes. When Kana got to the end of the hallway, she was met with a staircase that led up and down.  "My guess is that the important stuff is down stairs while more offices are up stairs…."

Kana was torn between getting to the juicy meat or the vegetables on the side. After a quick going back and forth and an eeny, meeny, miny, moe, she dejectedly walked up the steps towards the vegetables that she did not like so much.  There were only three floors above ground, and after searching each one, she only found bits of information on each project the company was conducting. No matter what it was, though, Kana couldn't make heads or tails of any of it. But even still, she kept the paperwork just in case it was useful.

After making sure she checked everything, Kana made her way down stairs. Towards the underground levels. It was here that she began finding the amazing things. Just on the first subfloor alone, the first thing that filled her eyes was a humanoid machine.  "A robot!"

Kana opened the door to the lab that had the robot in it and walked over to it. "Master, I do not think you should touch that..."

"Hmm? Why not?" Kana asked as she touched the robot, only for it to suddenly come alive and swipe at her. "Who are you touching! Impudence! I am the great and wonderful…. Wait, where am I? Where are all those dumbasses!? Huh? Who the hell are you!?"

Kana was stunned by the sudden movement of the robot, but a sly smile came over her as she placed her hands on her hips and said: "I am your master! Kana!"

"Hmm? Master? Kana?" The robot seemed a bit perplexed. Its voice was that of a female, so Kana could only guess it was a shebot. "Why do I not remember this? Kana… Kana… Umm… Okay, Kana! My master! It seems you were removed from my memory, so I re-added you."

"Eh, just like that!?" Kana never expected her lie to work! Maybe this shebot was not very smart?

"Hmm, what do you mean!? Were you not my master!? Damn it, I fell for it! Wait… Now that I think about it, I was just recently created, and during a routine maintenance, the people who made me suddenly disappeared." The shebot mumbled.

"Wait, so the people here really did disappear?" Kana wondered if it had to do with that so called invention. But this solved the mystery of those who disappeared.

"Do you have a name?" Kana asked.

"No, they never named me officially. But I am quite fond of the name 1283F4DW." The shebot replied.

"Then we will call you Misaki. Your other name is too hard to remember!" Kana was not going to try to remember a series of numbers as someone's name.

"Misaki…. It has been registered, Master." Misaki replied. Misaki was just a bunch of metal parts put together resembling something like that one movie from Earth, Fruitminator, where a robot from the future came to destroy humankind.

"Is there a way to make you to… Umm... Look less metal?" Kana wondered if there was a way to cover up all the exposed parts.

"Oh? Ahhhh!!!! I'm naked! How dare you stare at my servos!" Misaki quickly ran off to another machine and pressed the button on the side, it surprisingly started up,  before hopping in. Seconds later, she stepped back out again (naked), with greyish skin and blue hair. She looked like an eighteen to twenty year old female. "Ahh that's better. I forgot to cover up..."
