9 Meeting Another Male Lead 1

After getting everything needed for knitting in the shop, I opted to go to a pastry shop and buy treats to take home.

"Flora, can you lead the way to that famous pastry shop you said." I asked Flora politely.

"Of course little miss, follow me." Flora said.

Flora led the way while Sir Frank guarded me from behind. Along the way I see commoners walking around doing their own business. Good thing I didn't dress so luxuriously, I am not attracting that much attention like a while ago after getting off our family's carriage.

I looked around and like in my previous world, there were middle class citizens and there were those of the lower class as well. There were also beggars on the streets begging for a few coins or food. While walking even further, I saw little children with ragged and messy clothes. Seeing them just made me sad.

'I am lucky to be reborn as a duke's daughter here in this world." I thought to myself.

"Be careful little miss." Sir Frank said. "Some of those children are pick pockets."

"Really?" I asked astonished.

Even here in this world, the poor have to steal to have some food in their stomachs. This is really a problem in society.

"Here we are little miss." Flora said gesturing towards the pastry shop.

The pastry shop was a simple elegant pastry shop from the outside but after entering, the interior looked fancy. There were tables and chairs for the customers that want to eat inside. The display cases were filled with different pastries and the smell inside was to die for. The inside has the scent of sweetness from the newly baked pastries that. Smelling it just made my mouth water.

"Welcome. Please come in." A woman who looked like in her early twenties welcomed us. "Oh my, Flora. What brings you here?" She smiled warmly after seeing Flora.

"Good afternoon Chelsea. I am here with the little miss of the Broderick family." Flora introduced me. "We are here to buy some pastries."

"Good afternoon miss Chelsea. I am Alyssa Yvonne Broderick, it's nice to meet your acquaintance." I politely introduced myself knowing that she was Flora's friend.

"M-Miss Broderick, no need to curtsy." Chelsea stopped me when I was about to curtsy. "I am but a humble pastry chef managing this shop with my mother."

"I am still happy to meet a friend of Flora." I smiled brightly. "Um… can you help me pick a cake that I can take home for my mother please?" I asked politely.

"O-Of course little miss." Chelsea blushed after seeing my cute smile. "Please, this way."

Chelsea led me towards the display cases with a variety of cakes. There all looked tasty and I feel that my mouth would water just by looking at them.

"What flavor do you prefer little miss?" Chelsea asked.

"If you like, I can refer some flavors." Chelsea smiled. "Our best sellers are these three, Chocolate Heaven, Blueberry Indulgence, and Strawberry Sparkle."

Chelsea gestured to the three cakes at the top shelf of the display case. The three looked so tasty that I want to try them all.

"Umm well… they all look tasty." I said. I was in a difficulty in deciding. "I can't decide, so I'll buy the three." I smiled brightly.

"All the three cakes little miss?" Flora asked in surprise.

"Of course I will also share them to the maids, servants and the knights as well, so maybe two of each." I said. "Can you please pack it up Miss Chelsea?"

"O-Of course little miss." Chelsea said and smiled. "Please wait for a while."

Chelsea walked at the other side of the counter and inside the employee only door

"Little miss, let's sit down while waiting for your orders." Flora pulled a chair for me.

"Thank you." I replied and took a seat.

I looked at the window and saw the busy street outside. While looking around I saw two little girls that looked much younger than me, looking inside the pastry shop. They were looking at the cup cakes with icing on top, placed on the tray near the counter.

Not long, Chelsea came with the boxes of cakes. She was accompanied by a middle aged woman helping her carry the cake boxes.

"Thank you for waiting little miss. This here is my mother." Chelsea introduced.

"Nice to meet you little miss of Broderick." Chelsea's mother said. "And thank you for buying our products."

"It's a pleasure madam." I said and greeted her politely.

"Oh, no need for formalities little miss." Chelsea's mother said.

"You are still my senior and so I need to give you my respect madam." I smiled.

"Oh, thank you." Chelsea's mother replied.

It is true that I am of noble standing compared to Chelsea and her mother, but giving respect to elders is engraved in my bones from my original world.

Flora and Sir Frank took the boxes from Chelsea and her mother.

"The carriage will meet us in front of the pastry shop little miss." Sir Frank said.

I was contemplating helping Flora and Sir Frank in carrying the boxes but I thought that if I asked them they would refuse.

"Oh and Chelsea, I would like to buy some cup cakes on that tray near the counter as well. Please pack them up for me." I said.

"Of course little miss." Chelsea quickly walked towards the counter and packed a few cup cakes and came back. "Here little miss." She passed it to me.

"Thank you Miss Chelsea. I will surely visit again in the future." I said.

"Just visit us anytime little miss." Chelsea said.

"We will be waiting for your return." Chelsea's mother said.

Out carriage arrived and parked just in front of the pastry shop. We exited the shop and head towards the carriage.

"Flora, please go on first." I said "I will just give these cup cakes to those little girls."

Flora looked at the two little girls that were still looking inside the shop thru the window and frowned a little.

"Okay little miss, but please be careful. I know you pity them but we are not sure if they are dangerous or not." Flora explained.

"They are only little girls Flora, don't worry." I smiled with Flora worrying about me. "I will be fast."

"Okay little miss. Please come back once you have given it to them." Flora said with a worried expression.

I smiled at her and trotted towards the two little girls.

"Hello." I greeted them with a smile.

The two little girls were startled and took a step back. They were defensive after looking at me.

"Don't be scared. I just want to give you this." I stretched my arm and showed them the bag of cup cakes.

The two little girls' mouth watered after looking at the bag I was holding, but they were still a little defensive.

"Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you." I smiled my most brightest smile to let their worries lessen a little.

The older one still looked defensive but the small one took a step forward.

"A-Are you really giving these to us?" The small one asked.

"Yes, I am giving it for free." I smiled.

"This isn't a trick?" The older one asked with doubting eyes.

"There are no tricks, I promise." I raised my right hand as if giving an oath.

The older girl reached for the bag I was holding and took it slowly. The smaller one took one cup cake from the bag and smiled happily.

"Look big sis." The small one said with a happy tone. "Let's go and share these with big brother as well."

The small girl ran with the cup cake on her hand.

"Don't run." The older girl said but it was too late. The small one bumped into a man and the icing of the cup cake stained his trousers.

The man glared furiously at the small girl if front of him.

"You little wretch!" The man shouted and was about to hit the small girl.
