Ira entered the ward. She found Reeya staring at her Amma on the hospital bed. She tapped Reeya's shoulders and said," We need to talk."

"Ira, I did whatever I could." She was in no mood to hear criticism of her decisions.

"Reeya, why didn't you tell me? Aren't we friends?" Ira raised her eyebrows. Reeya should have at least told her instead of facing the problem alone. Although Ira said those words straight, she had to admit that it was partly her fault.

After the accident, she had been deliberately avoiding Reeya. Afraid to face her, she was escaping from the problems. At that time, she had selfishly chosen Vivan over Reeya even to the extent of risking the life of her friend.

Maybe if they weren't so estranged Reeya would have told her.

In fact, with Ira's state following Vivan's accident, Reeya didn't wish to bother Ira with her problems.

"Reeya!" Ira shouted. Reeya snapped out from all the bad thoughts going on in her head.

She patted her shoulders, "Don't worry. I am here. Let's find a solution."

When Reeya's mind seemed to have stabilized, Ira said, "Money is not an issue. I will pay the bills for you."

"Ira, thank you. I will repay every penny." Her gloomy eyes finally showed a spark of hope.

"No, In fact, I want to hire you. I will give you advance payment for a year," she said.

They say death is inevitable if destined. It's only been a few days Reeya had defied her death. Would grim reaper still follow her when she everyday faces a life-threating situation due to her job? Facing such a state, getting a safer job, and working alongside Ashay would serve the purpose.

"Ash faces serious life threats. You remember the fire incident in Rai laboratory month back. It wasn't an accident but a deliberate attempt on his life."

Reeya was confused. She didn't understand Ira's intention.

Ira continued, "I don't easily trust people. Can I depend on you?"

"You mean?"

"Hire you to work as Ash's bodyguard."

"So, what do you think?"

"Thank you." Reeya stared at Ira in gratitude and cried.

Even if she arranged the surgery charges, the post-operative care and hospitalization would cost a lot as well. With her job, it would take years to repay. She knew Reeya would never think bad for her. As for the truth in words concerning Ashay's life in danger, she didn't know much.

"First go wrap that bloody hand. In a hospital, an open wound is easy to get infected." Ira smiled and patted her head.

"Okay, thank you, doctor..."

"Amma, don't worry, the doctor will cure you." Reeya caressed Grandma's cheek and said before she was carried into the operating room on the stretcher.

Amma stopped to say some words. Reeya's bowed to hear them. "Girl, You lived a hard life, struggling all on your own. I'm sorry not to able to protect you." Taking another long breath, she continued, "It is a pity I can't see you getting married. I can't play with your kids. Live a beautiful life." Tears slipped from her eyes, but her wrinkled face still had a lovely smile.

"Amma, don't say such words. You will be alright! You have to live to see me in a wedding dress." Reeya rubbed her eyes as tears overflowed. Amma deeply felt that these were her last moments, so she said everything she wanted.

No surgery will be successful! Amma will survive!

"Move now." And grandmother was carried to the operation theatre for surgery.

She stood outside the door, watching the red light. None of her Uncle's family was there.

It was a cold night. Moreover, the wound on her palm was in pain, tingling because of the coldness. The entire-time while her eyes stayed at the door, she prayed, God, please don't take my Amma away. She is a good person. I got no one other than Amma." As she looked around, her eyes fell on Ira and Ashay sitting on the bench, looking at her.

The operation has been going on for four hours.

The corridor emptied as her family was worn out of patience by the long wait. The silent passage had only Reeya and Ashay. No one talked, breaking away the silence. Ashay just accompanied her.

She walked around in laps in the corridor with worry. Ashay came to her and pulled her to sit.  He wrapped his coat around her since it was cold.

Finally, after eight hours, the OT lights went out, the door was pushed open, and a tired Doctor picked the mask on the underside.

Reeya rushed up anxiously and asked: "Doctor, How is my Amma?"

The doctor wiped the cold sweat on his forehead. He bowed his head, and before he could say a word, the door opened again as they heard the sound of the stretcher.

Amma had a pale face and an oxygen mask on her nose. They moved her to intensive care.

The doctor was extremely nervous when faced with Ashay's gaze. "What happened?" he asked. I have tried my best to do this surgery, but the patient's condition has deteriorated to the extent that we couldn't do much." Doctor told him the truth.

"How long can you support her?"

"A couple of days." he tried his best and naturally used all his strength. Unfortunately, the old age and the worsened condition acted against the patient's condition.

"No.." Reeya's knees got weak as she slammed in the ground. Ash rushed to hold her from the fall.

"No...no..save her...save her." she refused to believe this.
