Evan was the last one to leave after muttering a goodbye to his father. Alexander observed him and understood what made his son feel too distracted throughout the meeting. He knew a couple of reasons, about this type of state of his son, but he rather not talk about them in this kind of situation.
Alexander was also moving out and caught sight of Andrew and Felix talking to each other. The father and son duo were having some conversation. Well, it mostly seemed like Andrew was upset with Felix performance just before, as he could understand Andrew having a Repremanding look on his face.
Alexander frowned and walked over to them. He didn't want to interfere between those two, but he had something to talk to one of them.
".....have a restrain on your words. You know how your words can be misinterpreted?" As one could expect, Andrew was lecturing Felix on the words he spoke in the throne room.
Andrew was upset, that Felix words came out to be hurtful and rude to the court members. He never restrained Felix on speaking out his thoughts, he always told him to speak for the benefit of their empire, but those words which he told before could be told in other way.
Howard, Felix can get a bit snappy and insensitive in some situations, when he becomes overprotective or offended. And, thats exactly what happened in the court today and he was not so happy about it.
When Andrew saw Alexander approaching them, he fell silent and cleared his throat. Felix lifted his head, wondering why his father stopped his words. He saw his uncle coming towards him and sighed internally, thankful for his intrusion.
They both bowed, when Alexander approached them and eyes both of them, seriously. "Andrew, are you all prepared? You are supposed to leave tonight." Alexander inquired while looking at Andrew directly in the eye.
Andrew tensed up a bit, but composed himself immediately and responded, "I've to check on the part of guards I'm taking with me. I would be leaving in sometime, after reviewing everything." He reported in a monotonous voice.
Alexander chuckled at how stiff Andrew sounded, but his laughter stopped as soon as it started. This was not the time, he lounged around. "I hope you would be doing that. I've a word to exchange with Felix here." Alexander spoke, looking at Felix.
The surprise that crossed over their faces was something Alexander didn't miss. He didn't say anything and waited for Andrew to leave, so he could get all of this over with. There was one more order he had to pass and everything could get into motion, according to what they planned.
Alexander was stressed and he knew how agitated and snappy he can get. His son mostly took over the Seazle siblings behavior in the case of words and Felix isn't any exception.
Alexander and Felix watched the retreating back of Andrew and when he disappeared down the corner, Felix sighed out loudly. "Thank you, uncle, for saving me." He gave a small smile to Alexander which he returned.
"Young man, I have something to discuss with you." Alexander turned all serious, which was the cue for Felix to get serious as well.
"Yes, your highness. I'm always at your service." Felix let out. Alexander walked towards a window and Felix walked behind him and stood a step behind him.
"The speculation you presented earlier in the throne room. Are you sure about that?" Alexander asked as he scanned the land that spread out before his eyes. His land. His great ans vast empire. No one could ruin it in his presence.
Felix nodded, then talked "Yes, your highness. I would never say something that I'm not sure of. Though, it was just a speculation, I totally believe that these two have some kind of connections with each other. All the clues might not add up, but I have a hunch and going by the details, I believe its right." Felix replied.
Alexander stayed quiet for sometime And Felix wasn't sure what was going on in his uncle's head. The speculation he made was not ordinary. He spoke out without any evidences, but the things he pointed out were enough to make them believe. Sometimes, it's ok to believe few words even without proofs and just need to follow instincts.
Alexander sighed and turned his head to look at Felix. Felix was suddenly taken aback, so he opted to just stare and wait for the words to leave his uncle's mouth.
"I've a mission for you." Alexander spoke, which increased the original confusion in Felix's mind. Alexander took notice of the lost look on Felix's face and decided to tell him, what's on his mind.
"Felix, after I listened to your words, I understood that they are indeed connected. I didn't discuss this in the throne room, as don't want any light towards this issue. I want you to go undercover and handle this situation, personally. Report only to me."
Alexander voiced out and this only increased the confusion of Felix. Felix didn't understand, what exactly he was asked to do. He had to go undercover. But, how? He was sure, most of them were aware of him. His presence is really not easy to hide. The future Duke and may be a part of the court man, who doesn't flock around him to gain his favour?
"City Belgonia." Alexander said out loud as he read what was in Felix's mind. "You were only introduced in the capital and you are known by the guards and people here inside the capital, not on the borders or in the far away cities. Go there, try to find any leads."
Alexander stopped and looked at Felix, who was contemplating on his words and he was trying to sink all the words and form an idea on what Alexander was saying.
"Look, I want this to be as secretive as possible. You can take any trusted guards with you. You would be my invisible aide on this issue. I can say, whoever are the plotters have a full proof and strong plan. They might have accomplices too. So you have to be careful. We don't know who is our enemy, at such times we can't take any sec lightly. Know Felix, one wrong move might rishte your life. "
" I wish you make this mission a success and I want you to find what is their motive. They are quiet for now, though I've a feeling, you will find something in City Belgonia.
It is an independent part of our empire and it would be more easy to start from there. Though, this can be only an assumption. I still don't want to leave any stone unturned. And, you are the only suitable person for this task, as I see it. You can take as many trusted aids with you for safety, but stay low key. Sure, I know my nephew isn't really as weak as he show it outside, "
Alexander stopped and looked at Felix, who had an undereadable expression on his face, but his eyes had a distant look. He was thinking hard about something and Alexander waited, thinking he would give some input on the words he talked about.
Felix finally snapped out of it, after a few moments and looked at the Emperor, who was just staring at his waiting. Felix smiled softly, "There is no need for an explanation, uncle Alex. Moreover, you have every right to give orders to me. And, my responsibility towards the empire comes first than anything and even if any mishaps happen, then I feel grateful for serving to my empire. Of course, I do know, a true warrier isn't the one who protects others, but the one who should be capable of protecting himself and protect others along.
I would be honored to be accepting this mission. And, I'm very happy that I was able to earn your trust for you to give me such huge mission. And, I would make sure to carry out with utmost sincerity and dedication."
Felix finished his sentences, with a bow. He was happy, very happy that his uncle believed and trusted him so much, to give him such big responsibility. This mission contained the whole empires future. Isn't that enought to show how much his uncle trusted on his capabilities and work.
Alexander smiled widely "Look at you. You've grown so much. Not only intelligent and dedicated, but respectful and responsible. You are growing well and I'm really proud of you, my boy." He said while patting his shoulder, in nothing but pure adoration and pride.
Felix smiled shyly. He wasn't that good. He just did and said what he thought to be right. But, after listening to the words of his uncle he felt a bit accomplished in something. He still had a long way to go, still he felt somewhat relieved knowing someone trusts him dearly.
He pledged in his heart that he would do anything to keep up his promises and keep his country safe.
"When do you want me to leave for the mission, uncle." Felix questioned, he knew, Alexander would be sending him as soon as possible, given the circumstances.
"The sooner, the better. It would be good, if you leave tomorrow early. I'll cover your absence with something. Don't worry about that." Alexander said, with a reassuring smile.
"I know about you, uncle. Now, I think I should go talk to father and leave towards home. Aeinshia would be waiting and she is alone in the house." Felix informed, while glancing outside at the dark horizon.
"Right. I need to check up on your father, too. Let's proceed together. After bidding your goodbyes, you can proceed to home. Otherwise, your father might feel like a abandoned lover by me and would get angry, " Alexander joked and walked off, while Felix was standing rooted to his place.
A sudden realization hit him and worry started to creep inside him.
'Why didn't I think about this before. I was caught in these matters that I totally forgot about it.'
