As Cyril was writing, he suddenly had a shiver run up his spine…
Then, he heard the Demon speak to him.
"What are you doing, Contractor? Are you listing your wishes? I must tell you, your nine years can still grant you a lot of them… So you don't have to be shy, just tell me your wish…"
Xagan generously said with such a gentle tone.
Cyril knows that he just wants him to die faster but he still asked him a question.
"Alright, if I want you to bring me to a certain location, perhaps to a different country, about 200 kilometers from here… Can you do it?"
"Of course… I can bring you there instantly for just 85 days of your life span." Xagan smiled as he stood up next to Cyril. It seems that he's getting ready to bring him there.
"Ah! Wait, wait… Not yet, Sir Xagan… not yet. I'm just canvassing! It's just a survey, in case I needed to. I haven't Awakened yet, remember?"
Cyril immediately explained as Xagan was about to reach his hand to him for the acceptance of the deal.
"Oh? Is that so? You can do that… But it would be great if you list them so you don't have to ask me more than once, understand?"
"Yes, yes. I will."
The man sighed as he realized that this demon is so eager to take some of his remaining days. Nevertheless, he continued asking the Demon since he would need a lot of information to survive.
"But tell me, Sir Xagan… can you lie to me?" He asked a very important question.
Though he had a feeling about the answer to the question, he wanted to confirm it from his mouth.
"No. I can't lie to you, Contractor."
"I see… But you can hide something from me." Cyril continued. He then saw the demon smirking after that.
"You're quick-witted, aren't you?"
"Not really… So when you said that you can bring me there 'instantly' for 85 days as a payment… There should be an option for not an instant, correct? Please, tell me that option."
"So you noticed that… I'm impressed. You're right… There is an option to bring you there worth 30 days of your life span. However, it would take us 24 hours to get there… Too slow, right?"
"Hmm… So I really have to be careful when asking for a wish." Cyril muttered as he took a deep breath. He realized that he should be mindful of this demon's words.
Perhaps, if he was in the right mind before, there might be a better wish that he could get for a lower price.
However, now that he's already here, he can only accept what he has. There is no point in regretting his past decision.
At most, he should just try to make better use of his remaining life span.
"Thank you for answering me, Sir Xagan… However, I'm still curious why did you have to bring me on this date. This is a month before my Awakening instead of the day of my Awakening? I hope there's no payment for this question."
"That's fine. No payment… I'll only ask for it if it involves my secret…"
"I see…" Cyril nodded at that as he waited for the Demon to explain.
"Very well, your body is still adjusting to the Artifact that imprisoned me. It will take a month and after that, you'll get your wish granted at the date of your Awakening."
"Oh, did it assimilate to me?" Cyril asked himself as he looked at his shoulder.
There is no longer a paper artifact attached to him. So he can only guess that it was some kind of Artifact Assimilation that he had heard before that only some High-Ranking Artifact was capable of.
"Anyway, so you're taking payment first before completing my wish…"
"Correct. This is not a secret, Contractor. I would need your life force to grant your wish. So… payment first."
"I get it… I get it…"
Cyril can only accept his situation.
He then continued writing about the things he learned from this Demon and about the things that will happen soon.
He wanted to create a clear plan to avoid dying within nine years! If he didn't do anything, his death would be guaranteed so he had to work hard!
"This is will be tough. I'm not good at fighting… Perhaps I can wish for it but---Ahh!"
Cyril then looked at the demon again as he recalled something.
"If in case I die, what would happen to you? What will you do? Can you answer without asking for a payment, please?"
"Sure. I don't consider this a secret anyway. You are aware that I'm a demon. So once I'm released, I will do what a demon would do… There's a lot of fresh and lively humans here… I will surely enjoy myself, Contractor. I've been imprisoned for a long time, you should be aware of my agony, isn't that right?"
'How would I know your agony?! This is bad! Really really bad! If I die and this Demon was released, everyone would surely die from his hands!'
Cyril had finally realized that this isn't just an opportunity but a burden that he has to bear!
