Chapter 17 - Hope

Another week had passed and Cyril's body is finally in better condition, compared to before when he's still working his part-time jobs and barely having enough sleep.

In these past two weeks, he was able to eat proper meals, he could exercise a lot, and he could even recall more things about the future as he reads the daily newspaper.

Speaking of which, Cyril is currently reading one. This is already his habit every morning since it helps him recall things of the future and he'll also be updated in the current events.

Since he hasn't Awakened yet, what he needed right now is information. He could find them online or read them in the newspapers.

"Ohh… There's an auction happening?" Cyril muttered.

He found some interesting articles and one of them is an Auction that will happen in a nearby city.

It is noted that they will be selling unique Rank B and A Artifacts and precious gems including some mysterious items that can only be found in the Arcane World.

Aside from that, they also listed the top four items to be sold!

One of them is a normal but precious item while the other three are Rank A Artifacts.

This normal item is a book with the title of "The Mystical Divination".

He read a brief introduction about the item and realized that it is a book that was left behind by an A-Rank Awakened.

'Hmm… I didn't hear much about divination in the past… This might be a hoax or something.' Cyril thought.

He recalls that there are indeed people that would call themselves prophets or divinators that would appear in the future but none of them brought significant changes to the world.

They are just calculating things or doing the math to look like they are predicting something,

Of course, he also considered that the one who purchased this precious item decided to keep its secret after learning them.

Anyway, he's not interested in such unreliable ability.

The other three items are the Flame Tempest Sword, Orb of Deception, and one bottle of Unaging Potion!

"Unaging Potion… It is said that one gulp can halt your aging for 10 years. With this small size, the potion can probably be used for only 5 or 6 times." Cyril muttered after seeing the article.

This potion is such a wonder and this is already the third time that it appeared. No one knows where or what Arcane World they can found this as everything is deeply hidden by the Awakened Association.

The only thing that the buyers need to know is that it came from one of the Arcane World and is permitted by the government to be distributed.

"I wonder how much this item would sell."

As soon as he said this, he immediately recalled his current situation. He looked at the Demon that is reading a book near the flowers and quickly called for him.

"Sir Xagan… There's an Unaging Potion that will be auctioned… Do you think I can use it to extend my life? Or can you tell me anything you know about it?"

He asked. He's not quite sure if he understands the potion's effect so he wanted to confirm it with Xagan.

"Unaging Potion? Hmm… Interesting. 14 days, Contractor."

"Ugh… Two weeks just for that?"

Cyril frowned as he thinks for a moment.

Xagan is taking his life span in every request that is being granted. Of course, aside from that, he is also spending his days just by living every day.

It means that for the two weeks that had passed ever since he was brought back here, his days are being consumed. Right now, his remaining days are only 3,286 in total.

If he drinks the potion, will it extend his remaining days or is it a hoax? After all, he only lived until the year 2144 and he's not aware whether the people who consumed the potion truly lasted for many more years.

As a matter of fact, he didn't even know the people who consumed them aside from a 40-year old female Awakened who proudly announced it to the public. Since she was still young, he couldn't really tell if it was that effective.

"Fine… Take my fourteen days. I hope you can give me a good answer. Tell me everything you know about it."

Cyril said. In truth, he's planning to order Xagan to steal the item for him if it can really extend his life.

After all, he previously asked Xagan about the price of stealing Artifacts and the demon answered that it's only worth 1 year and 6 months of his life.

He wouldn't mind paying even double than that as long as he could get the unaging potion… if it's really true.

"I accept the deal, Contractor."

Cyril then felt the same sensation again, some warmth of his body disappears before returning to normal. He doesn't feel any pain or weirdness whatsoever.

"Very well. Listen carefully, Contractor. First, the Unaging Potion that you're talking about isn't a product from the Arcane World. This potion is made by the experts living here in your world.

"Second, it will indeed give you an unaging appearance but it will only last for about 5 or 7 years depending on your life force.

"Third, if you would consume it, it's true that you would experience an extension of your life span. However, this is not suited for an Awakened that it is active in their Arcane Exploration… In exchange for the life extension, the consumer will experience a decline in his ability to control their Artifacts. Kukuku…"

The demon laughed after explaining it to him.

On the other hand, Cyril felt devastated upon hearing everything!

"Ugh! I wasted my days again! I should just stick to the plan." Cyril muttered. He already has plans on how to get the Entrance Crystal and his next actions. However, because of this newspaper, he lost his two weeks just like that.

There's no way he would want something that would hinder his growth as an Arcane Explorer.

'Anyway, I would've died in curiosity if I didn't do that.. That's right… Let's just think that way…' He said to himself.
