BEASTKING ASLAN'S POV:-
The Beast King...haha...the title that I was so proud of...turned out to be a joke in front of people at the same level.
First, there was that 'child' God that pushed me to the ground and humiliated me. He even killed my family right in front of me before absorbing their souls into a vessel like object.
Blackmailing me with that vessel, he asked me and my clan to be his piece in his war game. I would have immediately said no to his proposal, but he showed me...that bastard showed me the torture through which my family was going through inside his vessel.
I could...not bear to see that...so..I sold my race in exchange for my family's safety.
The others who showed me the power difference were the Demon King and Ladros...both of them have enough cards up their sleeves to kill me a hundred times over. I even wondered why Ladros was not the Devil King himself before the Devil King finally revealed himself.
'He can kill a few Gods by himself? Haha…' I couldn't even chuckle properly at those words. To think a person who is not a God can actually kill a God. Honestly, I wouldn't have believed that statement, but the real proof lies in what had happened just a few moments before that was said.
'It wasn't just simply defeating a God. That human...a weak human, from whom I couldn't even feel an ounce of mana. Someone whom I would have labeled as bottom of the food chain...actually overpowered that God. He humiliated that God...made him beg, made him cry in pain and agony before erasing his existence all together.'
I still feel goosebumps when I think about what would have happened had I met him before. I would have surely taken him as a weakling who is just high in his head.
'Is it really okay to let someone like him live in this world?' I still feel like an entity like him should not exist in this world.
"Is it really okay to let him live? Should I kill that kid...that monster...Morpheus Somnus, was it?" I mutter as I close my eyes before opening them again and looking in the direction where my entire race had gone extinct.
I clench my fist as I remember the vow I made.
("Each and everyone of the Beasts will die if I try to do anything that goes against your will.")
To think it applied even after the child God died. When I went to kill that child...I changed my position from 'not doing anything' to 'Enemies of the Elves'
And that resulted in some form of magic activation...killing all of my race at once.
LUCIFER'S POV:-
To think or not to think. To know or not to know. Which one is right? I wonder as I look at her following me to the depths of the forest.
Lilith...an angel...was she the one who warned me about Corey's death? I think as I walk deeper and deeper..
'But her voice does not match at all and…' my eyes close a bit as I recall back what happened.
When I was running towards Corey, she was already there. Before the Demon King killed the Elf King...before Corey and Icelos could kill Ladros, she already reached there.
I can swear that she wasn't there when I sensed her before. Yet, she reached there in an instant.
'I...don't want to kill any party members this early. I even started enjoying their company...Lilith...will you be an enemy or a friend….I wonder…' I think as I undo my Devil's transformation and walk towards a small opening in the dense forest.
I turn around and look at her. She has already turned back into a human. Is she really a human?
"You must have a lot of questions?" She asks me with a smile on her face as she looks at me.
'Honestly, I do have a lot of questions...but for some reason...I think I won't be getting any of the answers. Well...what would Morpheus have done at this point?' I ponder over it before realising what that guy would have done. My eyes open slowly as I sigh and then look at her before speaking with a serious expression,
"Fight me."
Unlike Morpheus, I need to know my level of power. If I take on someone in our party, then it should be at least someone whom I can defeat.
'I am not Morpehus. I don't think I can ever be that guy.'
"You will die. Get strong before challenging me," she speaks as she looks at me with a small smile.
I know that there is a hidden meaning in her words, but I can't seem to catch what it is.
"What is it that you want?" I ask her another question, changing the topic. If I am going to fight her in the end anyway...then there is no point in arguing over our power level, and if I am not going to fight her at all, there is no point in dragging this conversation.
"I am searching for someone. Someone special to me," she sighs and looks at me with a tired expression. It's not that our conversation is making her tired, but more like it's something that is bothering her to no end.
And one more thing that I wanted to ask was…
"How does Damien know you?"
It's a stupid question...it's a nonsensical question that I should not even ask. It's obvious that Damien meets only those people whom he deems as valuable to him or else he won't bother. Those valuable people all have their own reason for communicating with him and it would be extremely rare that someone would disclose that kind of information.
"I can't tell you that," she speaks as she looks at me with an apologetic expression. She looks really pained from her expression, enough to make me curious about what it is that she is holding in.
"It's okay, you both. No need to complicate it," another voice comes and I see another familiar face coming towards us.
"Devil King, Damien." Lilith speaks with a casual voice as she looks at Damien walking towards us.
"What do you want?" I speak as I look at him. Him being here only makes things more complicated. Don't you have other King stuff to do?
"Don't give me that look now. Is that how you greet your acquaintances, eh?" He asks in a playful manner before slightly chuckling and speaking,
"He has chosen you both into his party on his own accord. If you think he is foolish enough to just let anyone into his party, you can't be more wrong than this. That guy, Aether, you see, is a monster even without mana. Not because of his power alone, but because of his brain. He might have already cleared tens of thousands of scenarios regarding how he would deal with you or problems created by you before even letting you join his party.
All I want to say is. Your leader, even though a monster in a human form, is still your leader. Trust his judgments, especially you Lucifer," he speaks as he looks at me, emphasising the last part.
"And Lilith, don't go overboard with anything. You are walking on a very thin line here. You understand that, don't you?" And then he looks at Lilith as he warns her about something.
Lilith nods at him before they both look at me. I observe their faces for a few moments before sighing and nodding as well.
'It's not like there is anything hidden in his words. Everything he said was true. Our leader is...well, our leader all right.'
Hmmm...wait a sec..one more thing…
"One more thing. What's your relation with Kaneto?" I ask him with a curious expression.
At which he smiles a bit before speaking, "it is better if you ask him this question. It is quite an interesting story as well. You will probably enjoy it."
He then yawned a bit before once again looking at us and then asking a few normal questions about how we were doing these days, from what we did during our adventures, and how Morpheus contacted us.
Since there wasn't much to hide, I and Lilith pretty much told him everything that has happened with us. Sometimes he laughed, other times he had a serious expression and sometimes he frowned but still kept silent.
"All right. I guess it was quite a pleasant meeting. I will be leaving now and you both should get along, too. As for Morpehus, he will probably wake up in a week or so. Just take care of that guy...that is, if he ever needs that."
Damien speaks before vanishing from our sight. I look at Lilith, who was observing me with a casual look as before, and a chuckle escapes my mouth.
"Let's go back," I said to her, and she responded,"Let's go."
