Chapter 114 - New Noble Phantasms

[[A Knight Does Not Die With Empty Hands (A++)]: An ability Noble Phantasm that grants the attribute to everything he holds, resulting them to become so called "Pseudo Noble Phantasms". [A knight Does Not Die With Empty Hands (A++)] is basically Lancelot's Noble Phantasm, Berserker in Fate/Zero, turned into a Skill.

Any item that Drako considers as a weapon, this one will "evolve" to become a D-range Noble Phantasm. For example, Drako can use this Skill to improve his arrows when he's going to use [Gandiva].

Drako didn't know how this Skill differed from its Noble Phantasm version, but there was no point in asking the difference. Of all the skills that could be obtained, Drako was sure that this was one of the best.

And [Battle Continuation] was another very useful skill, and Drako was sure it would be useful in the future.

[Battle Continuation (A)] and [A Knight Does Not Die With Empty Hands (A++)] are two skills that Drako didn't expect at all. Which Noble Phantasm suited Drako best at this point?

Drako didn't know much about Fate Grand Order, but he knew that the Noble Phantasm list was huge.

From a floating fortress, a sacred sword, or a demon spear.

Numerous possibilities and very few of them were bad.

Drako's luck seemed to be pretty good lately. Not just the skills, but it looked like the [Noble Phantasm] was going to be pretty good.

Now, who the hell is Sakata Kintoki?

It looked like Drako was going to have to do some research in the future. He already knew who Atalante was even before he got his [Noble Phantasm], but he was totally unaware of Arjuna's existence. It was not until after some research that he discovered his position as one of the great heroes of Hindu mythology.

Now, his new Noble Phantasm comes from the legend of Sakata Kintoki. By his name, this must be a Japanese person, so maybe one of the new members of Valina's house knows something about him.

The first [Noble Phantasm] is a motorcycle, and a pretty fast one at that. Drako wasn't going to complain since he had no reason to. In fact, he was quite happy.

He didn't know why he always had a bad feeling every time he thought of the Gacha. Maybe it was a trauma from his past life? A trauma from that past life that he doesn't remember because of a certain goddess?

Leaving aside the subject of this [Noble Phantasm], Drako went straight for the second one.

Maybe on the fourth attempt, he can get a [Noble Phantasm] EX rating.

Looks like today wasn't the day Drako was going to get an EX rank on something. So far, the most he's gotten is an A++ range in one of the skills.

Now, this [Noble Phantasm] sounded a little more like Drako.

From Greek mythology, more specifically from the Iliad, it's the shield of Athena. And she later passed it on to Odysseus.

Drako assumed that this [Noble Phantasm] belonged to the Heroic Spirit Odysseus.

Drako didn't have time to ask [Sage] for more details about this [Noble Phantasm] when metal pieces of armour started appearing on his body. The pieces were joining together, slowly forming a platinum-coloured metal armour. Finally, the armour continued to grow toward his head, ending in a kind of helmet.

Before he could react, he was wrapped in light armour. I say light because Drako did not feel the weight of the armour at all.

"[Sage], what's going on?"

[These are the results of the Noble Phantasm Aigis.]

"As expected, this is the Noble Phantasm. Instead of materializing as a shield, it's materialized as an armour. You know, [Sage], give me the information about this [Noble Phantasm]"

[Aigis: Divine Corpus Boundary Field. A defensive armament which was created by the Gods of Olympus. It has been at times referred to as a set of armour, or a shield. Originally a conceptualized defence used by the Gods, which is essentially an extremely formidable barrier. However, thanks to the affection Odysseus receives from Athena, it can be worn by him as a physical suit of "armour".

In other words, it is an invincible set of armour which carries the conceptualized defences of the Gods.

"Just as I thought, it is a continuously-active Noble Phantasm. But why do I spend MPs when I use it?"

Yes, continuous use of [Aigis] does not waste a single point of MP. That's surprising, considering that it's an A-range Noble Phantasm. It also doesn't have a "True Name", a special ability, as do [Gandiva] and [Golden Driver]. It's just as [Sage] describes it, an "absolute" defence.

Of course, everything has its limits.

The amount of defence this [Noble Phantasm] has is amazing, but it is directly linked to Drako's magic power.

Drako didn't know what to think at this point.

On the one hand, he was very happy with the outcome of this fusion. For one thing, he was virtually immune to attacks containing power on the level of a High-Class Devil. And now, the Ultimate Class Devils powerhouse is only going to do half as much damage. That's certainly not bad, considering as soon as he goes up a few levels that will extend to the level of the Seraph and Cadre.

Before, his Dragon's Scales at Lv 6 just neutralize 60% of the damage done by an attack of the same level of his defence. Dragon Scales was a skill that only levels up with Drako's evolution, so it would be really difficult to level it up later.

On the other hand, he was sure that Aigis could protect him from the attacks of at least the Ultimate-Class by himself. Or at most receive 10% of the damage at most.

[User doesn't have to think that way. If the user had chosen not to merge the skills, Aigis would be totally useless to the user once he reached a certain level of defense. Now that Aigis is merged with your body, it will grow with you until your final moments.]
