Chapter 65 - 61 - Field Trip (4)

Team RWBYS had made it to the auditorium with Ruby having a huge backpack. She then puts it down next to other students' luggage before rejoining her team, who are standing in front of Team JNPR.

Glynda: "Quiet! Quiet, please. Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin."

Ozpin: "Today we stand together, united. Mistral. Atlas. Vacuo. Vale. The four Kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, greed, and oppression.

A war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. And as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for.

As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself: color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day.

We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today, while the rest of the world celebrates peace, Huntsmen and Huntresses will work to uphold it. As first-year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional Huntsman or Huntress on a mission.

Some of you may be taken out of the Kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best.

Ozpin steps away as the students all begin to file out of the amphitheater.

Ruby: "This is perfect! All we have to do is shadow a Huntsman working in the southeast!"

Shallot: "That's a really good idea we just have to find a mission that takes places over in that direction or you can't investigate."

Yang: "Yeah! We'll follow them around by day and give them the slip by night!"

Weiss: "Let's check "search and destroy"!"

Ruby: "Here we go! Quadrant 5 needs Grimm cleared out!"

Shallot: "Oh that sounds like an interesting mission. It will help you get used to all the training you have done and you can work on control also."

Weiss: "You still haven't help me with an idea for my semblance. You have helped everyone else but you just give me gravity training."

Shallot: "You already have a fighting style. What you need currently is experience and this is the perfect type of mission so you can get just that. If I can see how you are fighting currently then I can probably give some suggestions but it seems as if you are already adept at using your rapier."

Blake was reading the details of the mission when she told everyone.

Blake: "Well, it's in the southeast!"

Yang: "Sounds perfect!"

Ruby selects it and types in her team name. However, the screen says that first-years are not allowed to take this mission.

Weiss: "Wonderful!"

Blake: "Any other ideas?"

Ruby: "We mail ourselves there!"

Shallot: "Well that is a problem. Maybe I can do something about that."

Shallot starts looking around for Ozpin and could see that he was over in the distance and starts waving at him.

Shallot: "OZPIN!!!"

Weiss: "What... are... you... doing. You can't just call the headmaster like that."

Ozpin sees Shallot and walks over to them before explaining why they couldn't get the job.

Ozpin: "Unfortunately, we determined that the concentration of Grimm was too extreme for first-year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular. In fact, I have the sneaking suspicion that you five will make your way there no matter which job you choose. With Shallot here I'm pretty sure that any job would be fine just not for the first one."

Weiss, Blake, and Yang glared at Ruby, who nervously rubs her head with Shallot rubbing her back in a comforting manner.

Ruby: "Whatever makes you say that?"

Ozpin: "I'm still curious how you all found yourself at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you really learned about a hideout in the southeast. And I certainly wonder why witnesses reported seeing robots and rose petals in a dance club some time ago."

Shallot: "Considering the loud explosion I caused at the docks I'm pretty sure any hunter or huntress would have made their way over."

Ozpin: "Fair enough. So how about this. Instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them? I won't have to really worry about you alls safety when Shallot and another professional hunter is going to be there to show you the ropes."

Ozpin selects some things on his scroll, and the hologram screen makes a noise.

Ruby: "We won't let you down. Thank you, professor."

Ozpin: "Do not thank me for this. Teamwork and persistence have carried you far. But you must understand, the things that await you beyond the protection of the Kingdom will not care. Stay close to your Huntsman at all times, and do exactly as he says. He will be leading you on this mission, and he can have you sent back to Beacon if he finds your skills to be unsatisfactory. Good luck."

Team RWBYS was walking away when Shallot lagged behind a bit so that Ozpin could still hear him.

Shallot: "The one that infiltrated the place has control over an ability that's not dust or a semblance."

With Shallot saying that he continued walking towards the rest of his team. Team RWBYS has left the auditorium and are on their way to the airship that will take them to Quadrant 5.

Yang: "That wasn't exactly uplifting. I feel that he sees us a nothing as children that has to be looked after by Shallot or someone else if we are going to get something done."

Shallot: "Then prove that you are reliable enough to not need baby sitters. Ruby has a track record 0-3 for catching criminals."

Ruby just tilted her head down but hearing that but also felt a hand on her head. She looked up seeing that it was Shallot.

Shallot: "But it is also everyone's first year. If everyone could do everything in their first year it would be no point in coming to Beacon Academy."

Yang: "You started sounding wiser all of a sudden. Are you sure your feeling ok?"

Shallot: "I'm feeling just fine. We should go on another date when we get back."

Yang smiles hearing that thinking about the last time before Ruby cuts in.

Ruby: "I want to go on a date also. Yang told me about everything you all did and I want to experience that also."

Shallot just smiled and give her a kiss on her cheek.

Shallot: "Whatever you say little red riding hood, but you have to make sure the big bad wolf doesn't eat you after the picnic is over."

Ruby face flushes but still nods looking forward to it. While they are absorbed talking to each other a student runs past them.

Student: "Hey! Team CFVY is back!"

Beacon students gather around to witness the return of Team CFVY. Blake and Shallot go up to Velvet Scarlatina.

Blake/Shallot: "Velvet? Are you okay?"

Blake and Shallot look at each and giggles at their accidental sync.

Velvet: "I'm fine. I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me."

Shallot places a hand on her shoulder and uses his spirit orb ability speeding up her recovery time by using his energy to heal her.

Shallot: "We can't have a beauty being injured now can we."

Velvet blushes and her ears perk up.

Velvet: "Thank you Shallot. I feel much better."

Weiss comes over to see that the spots that look like they are injured have already recovered before asking a question.

Weiss: "Your mission was supposed to end a week ago! What happened?"

Velvet: "Nothing happened. It was just ... there were just so many..."

She looks up and notices Team RWBYS's worried expressions while focusing more on Shallot's face.

Velvet: "Oh, but don't worry. You first-years are just shadowing Huntsmen, so you should be fine. I'm also sure that Shallot can handle it. I've seen the videos and he is definitely a good teammate"

Shallot: "I'm an even better "Mate".

Shallot winked at her making her face become more red going all the way to her ears.

Velvet: "I should go. Be safe, okay?"

Velvet then dashed away.

Ruby: "We can do this. We've never backed down before, and we're not going to start now."

They all turned to get ready for what for the huntsmen that would be there for them when they see one of their teachers standing there.

Oobleck: "Why, hello girls and Shallot! Who's ready to fight for their lives?"
