Chapter 69 - 65 - Search and Destroy (4)

Shallot was nodding his head watching Ruby when she pulled the move off thinking that all the time they spent after classes were worth it. He was amazed at how she could catch on so quick at being flexible with her semblance.

Weiss started walking back towards the group while Ruby dashed towards the final one-armed Grimm slicing it from the waist separating into two halves. Ruby then started walking towards the group thinking that it was a good exercise but not anything strenuous.

Shallot: "Weiss, do you have any complaints about the gravity training now?"

Weiss turned her head away and harumphed.

Weiss: "You knew this was going to happen didn't you."

Shallot: "I told you not to use your glyphs until you were completely fine with the training and was able to move with any problems. Well, I guess you naturally really good balance since you're usually wearing heels."

Weiss starts searching for something to tie her hair with again because it is getting in her way. While she was doing that Blake decided that she was going to mess with her.

Blake: "You know Shallot was talking about you when you crashed into the building."

Weiss stopped and looked towards Blake then Shallot.

Blake: "He said that you look better with your hair down."

Weiss was processing that since she was about to through a fit at him but stopped when what Blake said next when through her ears. Weiss just turned away and started going through her hidden pockets and found another hair tie before putting her hair back into a ponytail.

The group then continued traveling through the ruins with Blake and Yang dealing with the Grimm that was showing up. Dr. Oobleck was impressed with their combat capabilities and knowing that Shallot was the one behind training them he was thinking he would make an excellent teacher.

Oobleck: "Have you ever thought about becoming a teacher after finishing school. You have trained them well in combat."

Shallot: "The only one I have personally trained from scratch is Blake since we grew up together and the others I only helped them with what they already had."

Oobleck: "That's what a teacher's main job is. Helping the next generation of Hunters and Huntresses increase what they already have and becoming far better."

Shallot: "I don't plan on being a teacher. I'm just doing everything to make sure that my teammates have the strength to protect themselves so that I don't have to be watching over my shoulder all the time. The more strength they have the better the team is."

While Shallot and Oobleck were talking to each other the girls were taking care of the Grimm. Merlin was laying on top of Shallot's head napping since he had a lot of hair and she found it comfortable. After a while longer and the girls had dealt with all the Grimm still not feeling tired just annoyed that there were so many.

Oobleck: "Excellent work, girls! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any signs of criminal operations in this sector."

Yang: "Hey, Doc, y'know, I was actually looking forward to seeing a "pro-Huntsman" in action. Like, fighting, or at least, helping us fight even though we don't need it? We would at least want to see how strong you are compared to the students."

Oobleck: "Ah, but I am in action! Scouring the ruins of this once-great city for any signs of irregularity! Not every mission is filled with daring and heroism, girls. Sometimes it's just a heightened form of extermination! Oh, well! Moving on! Remember, this is a job, and you all signed up for it. I do hope you understand that."

Shallot: "I guess we were lucky then Blake. Search and Destroy was our missions originally."

Ruby: "Search and Destroy?"

Shallot: "When we were part of the White Fang. Those missions were hunting down bandits and appropriating some missed materials for the better need."

Blake: "He just needs some money for making weapons and experiments so he called them missions and dragged me along. He also lied to others of the White Fang knowing that they couldn't do anything to him since he stayed in our house. He was mostly stronger than all the others except for the leaders back then but I'm sure that now he is stronger than everyone else."

Yang: "So how strong was he as a kid?"

Blake: "It took him 4 years to be strong enough so he could travel by himself in the wild. He left the village at 8 years old and for 6 years went around doing who knows what at that time. I do know that he would call on a scroll he got from somewhere and make updates sometimes. Other times he would just appear out of the blue just to check in me to make sure nobody was getting any "bright ideas"."

Yang: "Sounds like he might have been jealous."

Shallot could still hear them even though they were slightly behind everyone else and were trying to whisper.

Shallot: "I'm just territorial."

Ruby just giggles at that.

Oobleck: "We should get going it is getting darker out. It's best that we start setting up a defense point while also deciding who will be responsible for the

While they were walking Oobleck turned towards Yang with the only Shallot being close enough to hear the conversation.

Oobleck: "Tell me, Yang. Why did you choose this line of work?"

Yang: "Huh?"

She thinks about it for a bit then replies.

Yang: "Well, to fight monsters and save-"

Oobleck: "No, that is what you do. I want to know why you do it. The honest reason as to why you want to be a Huntress."

Yang: "The honest reason? I'm a thrill-seeker. I want to travel around the world and get wrapped up in as many crazy adventures as I can. And if I help people along the way, then that's even better. It's a win-win, y'know?"

Oobleck then turns to Shallot and wonders exactly someone as strong as Shallot would want to come to the school if he can just do what he wants.

Oobleck: "And what is your reason Shallot?"

Shallot didn't have to think of an answer since he just does what he wants.

Shallot: "No specific reason really. I do it because I can. It's kind of like asking why do people hunt animals when we can live off of vegetables. It's simply because we can. I'm here at this school because I want to."

Shallot: 'And I need to gather information about this Salem that Summer told me about. I should be strong enough at this point from all of this gravity training. I hate that it damages my body doing this though if I push too far... what a second.'

Shallot's eyes widen thinking about something.

Shallot: 'I can use the spirit orb and spirit dome ability to heal to constantly heal myself while training with gravity and I can go even if I injured training and healing. I have my own hax now.'
