“Ah….a”

Slowly holding my breath for no good reason other than to keep my mouth closed, I utilize my horns to tear off a ruby marble on the top right side of the mirror. God bless medieval nobles and their obsession with shiny things - four crystals in one mirror!

Only three more remains…

Bracing myself, I try to complete the daunting task as soon as possible.

“Waha…”

*Panting*

At least I got all four. I put three on the desk while holding the fourth in my palm and before I know it, I’m glued to the mirror again. My reflection…

Furiously shaking my head, I step away and take a seat. Since I’ve already burnt a lot of energy, I don’t want to collapse on the floor or risk lighting my current bed on fire.

Okay!

Following the colour code, fire magic? Trying to test it out before putting it in the crystal, I close my eyes like last time to try creating a small ball of fla-

“Owww”

As I break my concentration the orange light dissipates leaving only a slight burn at the very centre. I’ll start with some heat resistance first and then try to put it on the crystal? I wonder how much it can hold. What happens if it can’t though? Maybe it just shatters like glass.

Ignoring my previous trial I tighten my grip on the red crystal and try to create an image of some sort of fire immunity and some sort of temperature negation.

It started glowing!

*Yawn*

It’s the middle of the day but I’m going to knock myself out if I’m not careful with this. Just one more spell to manipulate fire and that’s all for today. At least it’s the maximum my body can handle before forcing me to take a snooze.

Focusing the ruby, I use what feels like the remaining magic I have within me to put fire into it.

I did it!

The gem glowed again to indicate my success! And now-

*Monch*

Still has a bitter taste, but I feel slightly more refreshed now!

So, if I try to summon a small flame in my hand now?

Yup! It works perfectly and I don’t even burn myself in the process now. Changing its size and location? Piece of cake now and barely feels tiresome to maintain it.

I deserve a reward for this!

Motivated, I left for the garden.
