Chapter 7 - First Mission

He entered the so-called guild and immediately got one weird notification popped out.

[Horny Targets: 30]

"…" Albert was speechless, never thinking there were this many Horny Targets. Unfortunately, it wasn't like he could hit them without reason. He would be targeted by these people and die.

Hence, Albert sighed and observed them closely. Everything seemed to be made of wood. From the wall, the table, chairs, or even tableware.

Many were holding a mug filled with yellow-colored liquid. And as he expected, the crowded guild turned into a silent building.

They all stared at Albert, who they didn't recognize, wondering what he wanted inside.

Albert looked left and right and found no decoration despite such a huge place. There was only a counter in the opposite direction with a lady waiting behind it.

The lady was smiling at him while waving her hand to him, asking him to come to her. She had long green hair and pink skin.

Despite the different races, Albert could understand her beauty from those perfect curves, her face, and other features. He even wondered whether these people were horny because they glanced at her.

Unfortunately, Albert paid no attention to them and walked to the girl with a serious expression.

"Hello." The lady's sweet voice echoed in his ears, soothing his heart. "Are you new here? I don't seem to have seen you in the town before."

"Y-yes." Albert nodded. "Aran has let me in and told me to get an identity from the guild."

"Is that so? In that case, he should have issued you a temporary permit."

Albert thought for a moment and raised the paper he got from Aran earlier. "Do you mean this?"

"Yes. Can I see that?"

Albert nodded and handed it to her.

She opened it and started reading the letter before sighing with a worried look. "I will issue your identity. However, you need to pay ten copper coins for it. Do you have the money?"

"I don't."

"The letter told me you're running away from your abusive parents. Is that true?"

"Yes. Now, I don't have anything with me." Albert confirmed it without hesitation.

"In that case, I can make you an identification card. According to the permit, you can stay in this place for three days, so you can get money to pay for it. I will introduce you to some jobs outside this small town to get some money for accommodation and this card.

"Though, it will be your choice whether you want to get it or not." She stopped, not forcing Albert to get one.

"Is that so?" Albert looked down for a few seconds before agreeing with the arrangement. "In that case, let me do it."

"I understand." She handed back Albert's letter. "For now, you should have this back. If someone asks your identity, just tell them that I, Fila, have confirmed your identity."

"Yes."

"Then, I have a perfect job for you." She bent down her knees and picked up purple-colored grass. There was a red dot on it, making it look unique. "This grass is called Haze Grass. There are many jobs around this town, but not many want to do it because the pay is lower than what they do.

"However, you don't need to fight monsters with this, so your life won't be in danger. When you get enough money to buy a weapon, you might want to get another job. How is it?"

"Oh?" Albert raised his eyebrows. "I will accept."

"Good. We will give you two copper coins for every five of these. They're easy to find since the grass is purple and there's one red dot on it. Don't pick those that don't have a red dot or have more than one."

"I understand. By the way, how much do you need to stay at the inn?"

"The cheapest one in this area is three copper coins."

"I see…" He looked down with a confused face. He simply had no idea about the monetary system in this area.

"Oh? You don't know anything about the money?" She frowned after noticing his expression.

"Yes."

'His parents must be living in seclusion, but this also means this guy has been tormented for so many years and has no one that can help him. Still, he's so polite… Such a pitiful guy.' Fila thought and started explaining.

"Hmm, there are four types of coins. Copper Coins, Silver Coins, Gold Coins, and Platinum Coins. A hundred copper coins are one silver coin, a hundred silver coins are one gold coin, and so on. That's the basic idea."

"I see." Albert nodded, thinking, 'Isn't this quite cheap? An inn for only three copper coins for a night? Even in the downtown area, it would drain the money in my wallet every time I stayed for the night.'

He felt he was pretty fortunate since he didn't need so much money to survive today. He smiled and thanked her earnestly. "Thank you very much. I will do my best."

"Sure."

"Then, I will start my job now." Albert nodded politely and turned around, leaving the guild.

Fila only waved her hand with a smile on her face before letting out a long sigh after he exited the building.

All eyes were set on her as she said, "Such a pitiful guy. You guys must have heard our conversation too, right?"

"No need to say it. He can crash into my place if he doesn't get anything today." A blue-haired human laughed. "He still has three days anyway, so he should be alright."

"Right. If he doesn't get anything, he can stay in my place for the second night." A guy with green skin added.

"Then the third—" Another guy wanted to continue, but the second guy stopped him.

"Isn't it bad if he doesn't get anything on the third day? He needs to be independent soon."

"Right…"

"Hopefully, he can learn fast."

"Anyway! I want another ale!" The guy raised his mug while shouting.

"Sure." Fila smiled and turned around, picking the drink.

The building soon became noisy again.

Little did they know, all of them were Albert's horny targets.
