Chapter 134 - JIEJIE, DON'T CALL ME YANG MENGHUO!

Name:Rent A Boyfriend! Author:ForeverPupa
"Meng Bao…" I muttered subconsciously upon seeing this slag mean standing in front of my house, waiting for me to come out.

I clenched my fist for a moment, but I didn't want to look agitated in front of Meng Bao because I know Meng Bao wasn't worth all my attention after all he did to me.

Thus, I looked at him straight in the eyes and asked, "Yang Menghuo, what do you want here? I thought you're having a nice date with your childhood sweetheart there."

"No, Ying Jie, I can explain this. It's all misunderstanding," Meng Bao said.

I glared at him and then told my mom, "Mom, can you give us some time alone?"

My mom sighed and turned her back, leaving us alone. I used my sandal and told Meng Bao to come with me. I guided him to the small hill near my house and then asked him to sit down on a bench under a tree.

"Jie, you're not going to sit with me?" Meng Bao asked..

Seriously, this kid still had the audacity to ask me to sit side by side with him after he hurt me badly. I actually cried for a whole minute while I was running away from him before.

I didn't even think it could hurt this bad, but it was really painful as if I had been stabbed in my heart.

I noticed that Meng Bao's clothes were all dirty from the mud. I remembered the last time I saw him, he tripped and slumped because he tried to chase me. In fact, even his face was dirty from the mud, and he was still barefooted. Maybe his shoes were lost somewhere when he tripped.

He looked at me earnestly as if wishing that I would pity him.

Yes, I should be ruthless enough not to pity him. But when I saw his rugged state, I couldn't help but want to take care of him. I sighed and said, "Wait here, I will return."

I went to my house for a moment, then I returned with a bucket of warm water and a towel.

I sat beside him and then dipped the towel inside the bucket and wiped Meng Bao's face carefully.

"Aish, look at your condition right now? You're covered in mud, and your expensive shirt has been torn beyond saving! Can you even take care of yourself? Be careful next time, okay? I don't want you to get hurt."

"…"

"Why are you going here without a slipper or shoes? Aish, this is not the city, Bao. What if you stepped on a sharp flint or something?" I chided even more.

"…"

"Answer me, ah, if you can't answer me, that means you're guilty! Ish, don't you realize that you fell face-first to the mud before? Look at your bruises! Be careful next time!"

"Jie, did you finally forgive me?" Meng Bao asked.

"…"

I stopped wiping his face and hands after realized what I've been doing the whole time. We were in the middle of a cold fight. How could I just casually chided him and wiped his face carefully? I should've shoved this towel to his mouth!

I got up from the bench and threw the towel to his face, "You wipe yourself!" I yelled.

Meng Bao was dazed for a moment, and I didn't want to miss this chance to run as fast as I could because I know it'd be tough for me to get away once I see that deadly puppy eyes again.

But Meng Bao caught my hand and then said, "Jie, all you said in the hill is not true! Please listen to me for a second!"

I paused for a moment and looked over my shoulder in his direction, "I saw that you have a happy ending with your beloved childhood sweetheart."

"I know it's been very unprofessional of me to ruin your proposal, so I will not make any profit from it. You just need to leave now."

"I won't leave until you want to listen to me. I've been waiting for this for fifteen years, and there's no way I will waste my time anymore," Meng Bao said. "This will be our sweet love story with a happy ending, and nothing will be able to stop me from achieving it."

I gritted my teeth. This man really had no conscience to include me in his love story with his Childhood sweetheart.

"Yang Menghuo, I don't want to be the third wheel in your love story. I'm too old to be in your rom-com. I'm just a regular working lady that works hard to save money. I don't want to have anything to do with you!"

"You got it wrong, Ying Jie. You're never the third wheel in this relationship. There has never been any third wheel in the first place!" Meng Bao insisted.

"Yang Menghuo, you still dare—"

"Don't call me Yang Menghuo!" Meng Bao snapped so suddenly. "Call me Bao Bao, Meng Bao, Stupid Bao, anything as long as it's my endearing name! I want you to call me an endearing name, Ying Jie!"

Meng Bao looked frustrated, which got me silent for a good while.

"Ying Jie, trust me, Li Daiyu literally just came out of nowhere and kissed me right when you reached the hill! I have nothing to do with her!"

"… So what?" I asked.

"Huh?"

"So what if Li Daiyu is not your beloved childhood sweetheart? In the end, you still have to meet your childhood sweetheart somewhere, right? I've realized that I can't partake in your pursuit of her. I just can't control myself."

"I don't want to ruin your wedding with her. I will give you my blessing, but I will never come to your wedding. I hope that you will be happily married to your Childhood Sweetheart."

I didn't want to be getting entangled with Meng Bao too long. All of these bullshits were just too taxing for my mental health.

Maybe I wasn't really fit to fall in love in the first place.

"I don't want to get entangled with you for too long. You and I are better to separate and live our own life. I have a lot to do for my family, Yang Menghuo."

Meng Bao looked completely shocked when I called him with his name again.

I shrugged and released my wrist from his grip. I walked away, closing the door between us.

With this, I've realized that love was something I wasn't supposed to experience. I'd rather be a leftover woman than a woman whose heart was broken beyond repair.

I thought Meng Bao wouldn't follow me, which was good… I guess.

But I still wanted to check whether he was okay with it.

I looked over my shoulder to check, but when I did it, I was startled by Meng Bao, who suddenly pushed me to the ground.

"Wha!!"

He protected the back of my head with his palm swiftly, so I wouldn't get hurt.

"Yang Menghuo—"

"DON'T CALL ME THAT! CALL ME MENG BAO!" Meng Bao yelled out of frustration. He was on top of me, locking me by putting his hands between my shoulders.

When I opened my eyes, I saw a handsome man, but with such childish cry of a kid throwing tantrums.

Meng Bao's tears dropped on my cheeks, stunned me even more.

"W—Why are you crying?" I asked. I haven't even raised my voice, but he cried like a little kid who had been scolded really badly.

"Wuwuwu… Ying Jie is so mean… so mean…." Meng Bao whimpered. "I really don't want to leave you, wuwuwu. Jiejie also can't leave Bao Bao ah…."

Okay, he seriously ruined the mood that I set a few minutes ago. I thought we could go for an angsty goodbye because of a toxic heartbreak ah.

But he completely ruined it with his childish cry. I almost forgot that he sent a bunch of burly, scary looking men to find me in the depth of the woods before.

"Y—Yang Menghuo, you're getting out of control, stop crying, or I will have to call—"

"WUAAAAA!!!"

Meng Bao started crying so loud, and it honestly got me so panicked.

"O—Okay, okay, what do you want?" I asked.

"Wuwuwu, Jie, don't call Meng Bao as Yang Menghuo… You're not foreign to me, and I'm not foreign to you either. Please call me Meng Bao or… Mengmeng…"

"… I'm sorry, but I can't call you Mengmeng. Because I have someone else that I also call Mengmeng, and she is my beloved. She is my childhood friend and childhood sweetheart that will never be replaced in my heart. Not even by you, Meng Bao…."

I had to be firm for that one. No one could replace Mengmeng in my heart, even this slag man whom I happen to fall in love with.

"Jiejie, you still haven't realized it yet?" Meng Bao pouted. He suddenly rested his head on my chest and confessed,

"I am Mengmeng, your childhood sweetheart."
