"Thank you for everything, Ying Jie. Thank you for saving me."

We returned to the hotel for dinner. Meng Bao and I decided to have the first dinner date, the official one. So after taking a bath, Meng Bao waited outside of my room and knocked politely, "Jiejie, are you ready?"
"Wait!"
I zipped the back of this evening gown and walked to the door.
I saw Meng Bao wearing a dark blue tuxedo with a butterfly tie when I opened the door.
He looked so handsome, not that he wasn't handsome before. But tonight, he looked so amazing, especially when he slicked his hair back, showing his usually hidden forehead..
I just realized that Meng Bao looked a lot like young Mr. Yang, his father. But a lot more handsome because of Madam Evelynn Yang's blue eyes and sharp gaze.
But when he saw me, all those handsomeness just vanished into thin air. Meng Bao stared at me dumbly, like a boy that had fallen in love for the first time in his life.
"S—Stop staring at me," I said. Trying to shrink back and distanced myself. But Meng Bao suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me into his embrace.
"Jiejie, you're so gorgeous in this red evening gown. You're a hundred times more mesmerizing than all the women I've met in my life."
"Oh, come on, Baobao, you're making things up!" I tried to avoid his hot gaze, and my cheeks reddened as well in response to his compliment.
"I'm not making things up, Jie. When I saw you with this evening gown, I really thought that I finally saw someone so beautiful."
"Because you make my heart beats so fast right now," Meng Bao confessed.
Aish, he was exaggerating again. He kept telling me that I was the most beautiful woman on earth, and nothing would change that.
Even when I got old and wrinkly, he said it wouldn't change anything.
I had to admit that his sweet talk worked on me, and it made me weak all over.
"Okay, okay, whatever you say. Let's just go and have dinner now. I'm so hungry!" I said and dragged him to the designated dinner spot specifically reserved for us.
Meng Bao and I walked side by side in the empty corridor and to the glass elevator. The elevator carried us directly to the rooftop, and there were about ten waiters and a headwaiter waiting for us.
From their smile and their courtesy, I could sense that Meng Bao also owned this place.
Thus when we sat at the table, I asked him, "This place is also yours?"
"Mhm," Meng Bao nodded. "I own about 70% of the property. Because this is one of my investments here."
"… you have too much. You're too rich for me to comprehend," I said truthfully. I understood Mr. Yang and Madam Yang's wealthiness, which I thought was already filthy rich.
But if they got compared with their son, Meng Bao. They were dirt poor compared to him.
Meng Bao's wealth was just too much for a human to personally own!
Meng Bao chuckled happily, "Well, it's not really hard to earn money. As long as you know what people want, you can just make a product about it. But for me, I'd rather invest in the product rather than creating one. That's why I accumulated all of my wealth mostly from investment."
Meng Bao leaned closer and whispered, "And that's because I want to have a lot of kids with you, Ying Jie. I know that you don't want your children to suffer the sad life that you experienced growing up."
"Rest assured, I will give the best for our kids," Meng Bao said.
"Meng Bao…"
"Hm?" Meng Bao raised his brow as he drank a glass of water.
"You're so cool today."
"Pfftt!" Meng Bao almost spat his water. I frowned at his exaggerated reaction.
"I'm just telling the truth, you know," I said.
"I know, Jiejie. I'm just… um… surprised, I guess. I didn't expect you to say that."
Meng Bao smiled shyly at me and gently held my hand, "Jiejie, I'll prepare our wedding as soon as possible. I'll enslave—I mean, I will work all my men to prepare for our wedding. I can't wait to get married to you."
"You don't need to rush, you know. I won't be going anywhere," I chuckled, amused with his antics.
I still didn't understand why Meng Bao wanted to marry as soon as possible. It was very unlikely that I would meet another man, and it was also impossible for me to break up with him.
"It's not that, Jie. I'm just afraid that another man will try to covet you again. I need to put a ring on your finger as soon as possible," Meng Bao sighed.
"It's really difficult to have a worldwide beauty as my future wife. I will also have to keep my eyes even after we get married. I don't want you to get snatched!"
I was laughing at his antics. I really didn't believe all those sweet words. But at the same time, it felt nice that someone wanted to give me all these sweet words.
As a strong, independent woman, I was used to working all by myself. There was no compliment except 'good job', 'you did well', 'You can finish this job in less than a week. I know you can do it.'
Yeah, that kind of praise. So it wasn't exactly romantic in any way.
"Baobao, did you ever say words like that to another girl?" I asked while eating the appetizer.
Meng Bao paused for a moment and frowned, "What do you mean, Jie?"
"I'm just asking. I wonder if you've said something similar to any woman before. Because you seem to be pretty good for a virgin to sweet, talk me. I'm not easy to get swayed by sweet words."
Meng Bao sighed and put down his spoon, "Jiejie, didn't I tell you that I'm incapable of feeling love except to you?"
"No matter how many times women tried to seduce me in various methods, I just can't feel anything towards them."
"When I said that my heart beats for you, I really mean it, Ying Jie."
Ah, yeah, I guess I was the one who got insecure about Meng Bao and all his greatness. To have him was something unbelievable for me.
I nodded quietly and continued eating. But Meng Bao suddenly stopped eating altogether and kept staring at me.
"Baobao, eat," I told him, but he shook his head.
"How about you, Jie?"
"Huh?"
"I wonder if you've ever kissed someone other than me?" Meng Bao asked calmly. But when I saw his eyes, I knew immediately that he would do some crazy stuff behind my back.
I shook my head calmly, "You're my first boyfriend."
"Really? Even with the world-shaking beauty you have!? I can't believe it!" Meng Bao insisted that I was a beauty everybody should be mesmerized with.
"Meng Bao, I think it's just you who think that I'm a world-shaking beauty! There is nobody in this world that think I'm beautiful!"
"What are you talking about, Jie? That's ridiculous! You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. And I'm the son of VAGUE chief editor and owner! I've seen countless women on the runway and in photoshoots. Do you think these eyes can be tricked?!"
Kind of? Your view about me was definitely biased because you were in love with me. Or at least that was what I thought.
I sighed at Meng Bao and nodded, full of defeat.
"Okay, let's just say that I'm the prettiest woman on earth that happens to be a virgin. And you're a handsome, young billionaire who happens to be a virgin as well. Oh, what perfect characters for a novel."
Meng Bao laughed heartily, "Well, that means we're fit to be a novel couple!"
Meng Bao and I ate in silence after that. He stole a glance or two every time, and I did it as well. We got caught staring at each other simultaneously, and then we would lower our gaze shyly.
After we finished dessert, Meng Bao and I were offered light wine. Because Meng Bao didn't have a good alcohol tolerance.
Meng Bao and I drank to warm ourselves while watching the beautiful night beach.
"Ying Jie, I have an idea."
"An Idea?"
"Yeah, it might be a bit sudden. But don't you think that we should introduce our family to each other?"
"Your Mom already came to my house before," I said. "I don't think we need a family introduction and such."
"No. No, what my Mom did in your house was completely unforgivable. I want our parents to meet in a proper event, maybe in a formal tea party and such."
"They will have a lot of grandchildren in the future. If they can't even be good to each other, then things will be a lot more difficult for us in the future, Ying Jie."
I was contemplating it for a moment. What he said was true. We need them to meet, at least to formally introduce the family of mine and Meng Bao.
Although there was a bit of fear in my heart, I nodded and replied, "Okay, let's do that."
