9 I Don'st Need A Date

Regulus glanced at his boss that was slouched in the passenger seat with a lifeless look in his eyes. Leo's parents had brought him home and made him look at the thick binder they had compiled of all the ladies they thought could be his future wife.

Regulus felt pity for him when he recalled how Leo dragged himself out the room and looked like he had just escaped hell. Coming from a newly rich family was rather harsh. Leo's parents were desperate to secure their spot in the upper class and were eager to marry their son to a daughter with a good bloodline.

While they were eager to establish their standing, they did take their son's feelings into consideration and didn't force him into an arranged marriage.

Leo leaned the seat back and closed his eyes. He loved his parents but sometimes they were too much. They had set him up for a few blind dates and he had pretended his schedule was full until next Christmas. His lie was flimsy and he needed to figure out how to fill up his schedule. And fast.

"There's a dinner party on the night you're supposed to have a movie date with the daughter of the Kane family." Regulus said.

"Sure." Leo answered. He really was not interested in dating at the moment. Not only was his company going through a critical period, he also wanted to crush the cockroach named Carina before he focused on anything else.

"The party is in two days." Regulus said, "Would you like to shop for a suit?"

Leo nodded and Regulus drove the car in the direction of the mall.

"This looks great on you, sir!" a sales assistant complimented Leo as he tried on a black and white suit.

"No." Regulus said before Leo could even reply. "These colors are so bland. He wouldn't stand out at all. This isn't a classic dinner party so you should try some other colors." He looked around the shop and his eyes landed on a blue suit so dark, the colors looked almost black. "This is perfect!"

Leo and the assistant exchanged a glance.

When Leo pulled back the curtains to the dressing room, the assistant sucked in a sharp breath. Regulus smiled smugly when he heard.

The suit color brought out the color in Leo's eyes and it perfectly accentuated his handsome face as well as his well sculpted body.

Leo fiddled with the sleeves before doing a turn to display the suit. "What do you think?" he asked.

The assistant gave two thumbs up.

Regulus nodded in agreement, "I think we'll take this." he said, "Throw in a bow tie of the same color too, please."

"Right away!" The assistant quickly rushed to complete the orders and it didn't take long for Leo and Regulus to finish shopping.

"Don't you need a date to attend with you?" Regulus remembered as they deposited their bags into the trunk and got into the car.

Leo froze as he was about to get into the car. It was an unspoken rule that you had to attend with a date whenever you went to these kind of events. He hated watching those fat old men parading around their arm candy that they paid for the night.

"No." Leo said curtly and Regulus dropped the topic. Leo would sometimes go to the events with Adeline but it was a far more common sight to see him arrive alone.

Regulus drove to the house and dropped Leo off. He reminded him that the event was in two days before leaving.

Leo tossed the bags onto the couch and went upstairs to the room where he had all the computers set up and ready for work. He was too busy to do it himself so he was going to have to hire some trustworthy people to help him dig for information. He made a note to ask Regulus to assemble a team.

Inspecting the room, he was satisfied that everything seemed to be in working condition. Regulus had already cleared out the closets so this room was ready for use whenever.

They had already eaten dinner at the mall so Leo brushed his teeth before hopping into bed. He stared at the ceiling and tried to remember all that had happened in the seven years prior to his death. The company was going through a rough patch but he knew that they would pull through. It would be beneficial to know what the state of the market would be so his company would remain on top.

Pulling out his laptop, Leo wrote down everything he remembered before saving the document and burying it among other files. He didn't need anyone to find out and then try to send him to an insane asylum.

Relaxing against the pillows, it didn't take long for his body to unwind and hos breathing to become deeper.

When Leo woke up the next morning, his stomach instantly grumbled for food. Pushing his disheveled hair back, he freshened up in the bathroom before calling for takeout. Going into his closet, he finished changing right as the doorbell rang.

Jogging downstairs, he opened the door and accepted the bag of food. Bee-lining for the dining table, Leo eagerly unwrapped the packaging and dove for the eggs with toast. Frowning, he thought that these eggs didn't seem as good as the ones that Adeline made. Shaking his head, he forced it down.

It's all in the past, he scolded himself. Their lives have nothing to do with each other and from now on, they will walk different paths.
