"Since Lord Clemo has already left for Emir, why didn't we teleport to Emir?"
They could have reached Emir instantly if they had used the teleporter but they were traveling on the rocky road to Emir.
"Nikalas is doing some adjustments to the array, it won't work until he's done"
"I think it's better if we send him to some sects or a school to learn more about runes, with his talent I'm sure that he'll become a skilled runemaster in no time"
He was indeed thinking about sending Nikalas to study more about runes and everything related to it, however, for a time being, he decided to keep Nikalas in Everlight, at least until he had enough power to keep him safe from the arrogant bastards in those sects, because as far as he knew, nine out of ten sects had rich spoiled brats who target weak students like Nikalas.
"Don't you like to go to any sects? Studying, engaging in competitions, things like that"
Arrora felt her throat tightening
"Are you going to send me away?"
He didn't expect she would become worried and realized that she was still thinking that what happened in Enarin with Chase is her fault.
"Relax, I'm not going to send you away, I'm just asking"
Arrora sighed and smiled
"Then my answer is no, I don't like schools, I like it here, spending time with everyone at Everlight, with you"
Her answer made him raise his brows a bit in surprise
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You like spending time with me? You might be the first person who likes spending time with me besides Knight"
"That can't be true, you're the nicest human I know"
"I didn't know that you can make jokes, Arrora"
"I can make this face too"
Arrora said as she made a funny face by sticking her tongue out and stretching her eyes wide.
"Jeez, humans are capable of smiling like everyone else, you know that right?"
Seeing there's no change in his face, she smiled as she rolled her eyes
"You will look good if you put a smile on your face"
"You can smile for me in my place, I heard that half-elves have the most beautiful smiles"
"Where did you hear that?"
As she asked, she removed the mask and showed her real face with slightly pointed ears.
He almost forgot what she looked like before wearing the mask and changed her face. She became more beautiful since the last time he saw her real face. She was not the one who can be called a kingdom toppling beauty in the divine continent and many would tell that she wasn't near in beauty compared to Darlene or Rosaline or Aster but for him, she looked more beautiful than all those arrogant tarts.
Even though she had become a grandmaster, she still treated everyone with respect and never acted so high and mighty like Rosaline or Darlene.
"So tell me? Does my smile look beautiful as you heard?"
She smiled and waited for his answer but Don slowly shook his head
"Well, I guess I've heard wrong"
Her smile froze on her face when she heard him.
"Haha, very funny, your majesty"
She said with an angry tone and stared at his face more closely
"You were kidding, right?"
She really looked concerned about his answer and he could tell that by the look on her face.
"Would every girl act like this when they were told they are not pretty or don't have a beautiful smile?"
"There's no ugly girl in this world, every girl is beautiful in their own way"
Don nodded as she put her mask and changed her face back to look like Adria.
"That's what my father said"
He suddenly stopped her when she started to talk about her father
"Don't talk about your past, if you talk, your anger and hatred would grow less"
"Is that what you do?"
"Yes"
She knew that he never shared much about his past or what made him like this but whatever or whoever it was, she would be on his side when he kills them.
"Whoa"
Suddenly she heard a glass breaking sound as she saw an arrow in Don's hand.
"Duck"
Don leaped at her and wrapped his robes around her as he held her body closer to him
"What's happening?"
The horses started panicking and neighing as Arrora heard a continuous arrow piercing sounds. Everything was dark as she tucked her head against his chest.
His hold of her had started to hurt her, he was holding her so tightly as she could feel his heartbeat against her face.
"Your majesty"
"Me king"
"Guard the carriage!"
"Protect his majesty"
There were panicked cries outside along the sound of arrows piercing through the carriage.
The arrows rained down through the carriage from all sides as she heard Don groan while his heartbeat started to rise.
After a few moments, the arrows stopped.
"Your majesty"
"Me king"
Arrora peaked through the gap of his robe to see the two black-armored men destroy the carriage door.
Arrora wiggled herself away from Don's hold and saw him
"Don..." As Arrora opened her mouth, she realized that her throat was terribly hoarse, while her limbs were cold and numb. Her body felt so feeble that it was as if she had just narrowly survived a disaster.
There were hundreds of arrows sticking out of his body as the windshield around his body slowly faded away. Fortunately for him, he was wearing the special armor made by Stodemar and Ken, it protected him from the arrows hitting his vital organs but still, the armor couldn't completely protect him.
"Do...Your... majesty, are you alright?"
She could tell that he's in pain as a wave of wind created by him, destroyed the carriage.
"Your majesty"
The rest of the black-armored men saw DOn getting up to stand on his feet with arrows sticking out of him.
"WHO? WHO DID THIS?"
Arrora's killing intent skyrocketed as the black-armored men felt a cold chill running through their spines seeing the murderous look on her face.
While Don closed his eyes and pulled out the arrow sticking out of his chest and went on pulling out the rest of them.
Her heart jumped a beat when she noticed the green liquid oozing from the arrow's end as Don pulled them out.
"Catalie, teleport us! right now "
Arrora shouted but nothing happened
"Shield yourselves and take cover"
Don ordered them as everyone could tell the pain he's feeling from his voice.
She was unable to grapes the point that how's he still standing
"Don't touch them, it's poisonous"
He quickly stopped Arrora when she tried to pull out the arrow sticking out of his back where his arm wouldn't reach
The men took a defensive formation surrounding Don and Arrora while he stretched his body as the arrow sticking out of his back dropped down.
"How...who?"
She panicked looking at the number of poisonous arrows hit him and worried about his health as he had started to look a little pale and there were blue veins that appeared on his face.
But she had no time to worry or ask a question, she raised her hand and created a powerful shield around them in case the attackers tried to attack again. After pulling out all the arrows, he quickly took out a healing potion and finished it in one gulp.
"They are gone"
Arrora turned and saw the wounds disappearing from his body as the color in his face began to return.
"Anyone hurt?"
"No, no your majesty"
A soldier answered as Don frowned and took an arrow from the ground
"Poison"
The green ooze let out a bitter alchemy smell and noticed that the green ooze had started to melt the arrowhead.
"A powerful poison, plus powerful archer or archers, the attackers had enough power to send arrows through my shield, definitely the attacker or attackers was at peak grandmaster level or heavenly level"
He waved his hand as the light from his pace ring appeared and disappeared with the poison arrows.
The men and Arrora was startled to hear him as he continued looking at the broken carriage
"Its an attempt on my life and yours, they could have easily killed our men but they didn't, except the poor horses"
The poison almost melted their bodies and the men would have faced the same fate as the horses if the arrows even grazed them.
"Who could have done this?"
Arrora asked and checked her body to see if there are any scratches or grazes.
"I don't know but let's get out of here"
As he said, he took out a teleportation scroll and used it by tearing it apart.
The moment he tore the scroll, a bright light covered them and in a flash, they vanished from where they were standing.
"We should be safe here"
Even though the scroll wasn't as powerful as the teleportation array in Everlight that could have directly teleported them all the way to Emir, the scroll managed to teleport them far away from the scene.
