"Why is this amulet not working?"
"No! What are you doing!?"
"We can escape together"
"Leave, take care of my child Viv, I LOVE YOU!"
Bits and pieces of memories flashed inside her mind. Calderon self sacrificed himself to save her and her child and the last thing she remembered before closing her eyes was Calderon's body exploding into a flash of light with the heavenly level shadow figure.
"Viv, take care"
Even when the death came to take him, he didn't lose the smile on his face.
"CAL!!!!"
**************************************
She opened her eyes and sat up on the bed
"Where am I? CAL!"
Vivian shouted as she looked around the room in panic and fear.
"Your royal...highness…."
Vivian jumped out of the bed and grabbed a candle holder when she saw the young girl who was standing there with watering eyes.
"Who..who are you? Where am I? Where is my husband?"
Her voice broke and instinctively she touched her belly as her body went rigid
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!!!!"
Vivian's shouted echoed through the room and the young girl fell on the ground in fear looking at the powerful aura she was radiating.
"Mother"
Suddenly Vivian saw a young boy come rushing into the room in a wheelchair.
"Mother"
Vivian saw the tears flowing out of his eyes as he reached his hands out to her
"Who? What?!"
She looked for her spear but it was nowhere to be found.
"You're awake"
Nikalas stuttered and his whole body was shaking.
Vivian was touching her belly and searching for the little heartbeat, yet she couldn't find one and that filled her heart and mind with dread.
"Don't come any closer"
She pointed the candle holder at the young boy who was moving towards her crying.
Riya slowly stood up and quickly ripped off the chain she was wearing.
"Your royal highness, here, do you recognize this?"
"Where? Where did you get this?"
Vivian recognized the chain, it was her family heirloom and it had the ability to identify her kin.
Her mother gave me the chain to her and she planned to give it to her child after she gave birth to him or her.
"HEY!"
She reached her hand out to pick the chain but she jumped back and returned to her defensive stance when she saw the boy take out a knife from his belt.
Unexpectedly, the boy cut his palm and grabbed the chain out of the girl's hand with his bleeding hand.
The moment the chain touched the blood of Nikalas, it let out an unearthly humming and glowed.
"It...can't..be"
Vivian felt like her whole world was spinning before her because only her blood could make the chain react like this but she never saw this boy in her life.
"Mother, it's..me..your son"
When she saw him fall down, unknown to her, she dropped the candle holder and her body moved towards him without her control to help.
"Why are you calling me, mother?"
There was not a shred of bad intent in his eyes but pure love and pain.
"You've been asleep for seventeen years, your royal highness"
The girl knelt beside her and said.
"What?!"
*******************************
"Miss Amaryll"
When Amaryll entered the room, Vivian and Nikalas embraced each other as Nikalas's tears wet Vivian's shoulder.
"You're awake"
A wide grin appeared on Amaryll's face and tears of joys flowed out of her eyes.
"I'm sorry you have to suffer everything without me, son"
She wanted to stay here and hold the boy in her hands forever.
While holding him in her hands, she saw the elf standing at the doorway and looking at them with a smile.
"Elf"
In a few moments after she noticed the elf, she saw two goblins wearing big white chef hats.
"Goblins?"
Even though she was processing a huge load of shocking facts inside her mind, looking at an elf and two goblins still surprised her a little.
"You two go and inform everyone about this"
Amaryll ordered the goblins as they wiped away their snot and tears and ran away.
"Riya come, we should leave them alone"
Riya and Amaryll left the room leaving the mother and son alone.
*********************************
It took an hour or two for Nikalas to tell what had happened since she went into a coma. When he finished his story, her whole face was drenched in tears and snot as he gently cleaned her face and consoled her to be strong.
He omitted the part where he was treated like garbage by Harold because she had enough worries as it is.
"Come one, let's go thank his majesty, mother, without them, I couldn't have saved you"
She didn't know whether it was fate or destiny that her son had found the chosen one.
"Son, you need to know something first"
Nikalas noticed a sudden coldness emerge in her eyes as she started to tell him everything about his father and the order.
"You can't stay here, son, I can't lose you too"
She said in a stern voice.
However, she didn't expect Nikalas to shake his head
"No mother, we can't leave"
"Why? Are they holding us like prisoners?"
She clenched her fist and radiated a powerful aura as Nikalas shook his head again.
"We can't leave because father wouldn't have left the chosen one, you just said he said it was his legacy and I will finish what he started, we will, we must"
Nikalas paused and took her face in his hand
"Mother, what would have father done? He"
Nikalas swallowed as tears flowed out of his eyes again
"He sacrificed himself to save us, if we ran away from here, it would shame his memory"
"He saved us because we could live, Nikalas, if we stay here, we will die, the chosen one and the search of him had already cost me enough, I won't lose you too, again"
However, Nikalas seemed adamant and at the same time, he tried to explain the situation more clearly to his mother.
"No mother, you don't understand, the first time in my life, I'm needed in this place, what I do matters here, I matter here, and I'm a part of something great mother. Besides mother, this realm is the safest place for us"
She felt like she was talking to Calderon as Nikalas's blue eyes and blonde hair resembled him, and hearing his adamant tone, she realized he inherited more than his father's look.
"Mother, come with me, let me show you something"
Nikalas tried to crawl towards his wheelchair as Vivian helped him up but seeing him like this made her heart bleed inside.
"What did the healers say?"
Vivian asked while she helped him sit on the wheelchair
"I dont know"
"What do you mean you don't know?"
She frowned.
"We'd talk about that later, mother"
Nikalas didn't want to anger his mother by telling about Harold and everything he did to him and what he did not.
"This way, mother"
Nikalas pointed towards the exit to lead her to show her the outside.
"Lord Nikalas"
"Are they?"
She didn't expect to see demihumans walking around in the corridors while she was pushing the wheelchair. The demihumans greeted Nikalas with a smile and looked bewildered when they saw Vivian because none of them had seen her before in the castle.
"Surprising, isn't it mother?"
But before Vivian could answer Nikalas, she saw even more people who belonged to other races such as elves, dwarves, and more demihumans.
All of them greeted Nikalas with a respective bow and a smile.
After wondering about this place and pushing his wheelchair, the two of them stepped outside of the castle to see the beautiful view of the kingdom.
"Beautiful"
She almost forgot her worries when she was looking at the fairyland before her.
"What is this place?"
"It's home, mother"
Nikalas's loyalty to Everlight and Don increased by multiple folds because of what Don did to him, he risked his life and brought his mother back from her unconscious state.
"How long have I been sleeping again?"
As far as she could remember, there was no place that had the elves, dwarves and races other than humans exist under one roof.
But in front of her eyes, she could see the elves and dwarves working together as well as demihumans and humans.
It was almost too much for her to process and she felt like her mind was going to explode just as she felt when she realized this young boy is her son.
"Don't worry mother, nothing has changed much out there, it's the same as seventeen years ago but here, it is a different story"
"You mean we're in a pocket realm?"
"Maybe, no one here knows where this realm is located but this is the safest place for us, come on, let me show you more"
He wanted to talk and spend time with his mother since he was a little and now he could do just that. He was excited and tears of joy had already started to wet his face again.
Looking at his face, Vivian swallowed her worries for now and ruffled his hair with a smile as she pushed the wheelchair forward.
