Chapter 417: Fear, Trap & Escape

'Crack!'

This sound made even the strong and brave heart of Tianlong Yun had a small beat of fright, as even a chill passed down his back.

It is truly weird how sometimes people get so used to a situation, and then the smallest change gives them a deathly fright.

The same thing was happening with Tianlong Yun at the moment, all this time he had been used to the deadly silence so that small crack was able to shake his sturdy heart.

That sound though seemed to be just the start of it, as soon a lot of more accompanying sounds were heard, as Tianlong Yun could feel that there were a lot of intents gathered upon him.

The strange thing about all this was that it wasn't a killing intent, but more of an eating intent, he felt like the owner of that sound wanted to eat him, bones and all.

Just what kind of creature was he dealing with? Surely this wasn't the first time that Tianlong Yun was facing a dangerous situation or a near-death experience.

There were a lot of possibilities running through his mind, in order to identify his possible enemy, but there was nothing certain yet.

The only thing he knew right now, was that his senses and instincts were sounding for a red alert, and he had a truly bad premonition about this.

Those crackling sounds were getting more and more often, as he was able to even hear some whooshing sounds.

Something was running through this stagnated air and space, able to produce that sounds and even be almost inaudible.

The worst thing was that he could feel nothing approach him, or his small area where he could 'see', everything was happening around him, but without approaching him.

It seemed like there was either being prepared a huge operation to capture him, or they were just playing with him, and trying to confuse him even more.

No matter what it was, it didn't bode well for Tianlong Yun, as it meant that in both situations he was nothing more than a prey ready to suffer its fate.

Staying where he was unmoving, was surely a grave mistake, as he was just a target in clear sight, as his 'enemies' were in the dark.

He was like a blind man that was surrounded by people who wanted to kill him or eat him alive. But at least he had limited sight in this place.

For that reason, even though carefully and slowly he started to walk forward, taking one step at a time, trying to understand what was happening.

Even though he had taken more than 5 steps already there was no sign of his silent attacker, besides those cracklings, and whooshing sounds.

It wasn't weird that the more this continued, the more one's spirit and mental strength would be corroded, and Tianlong Yun wasn't an exception to this.

In fact, from the moment he had entered this place his nerves had been completely taut, as he was taking notice of every single change in his surroundings.

He didn't dare to underestimate this place and was trying to overestimate it so that he would be prepared for anything that happened, at any moment possible.

But still, it seemed like it hadn't been enough, since he still had fallen into such a situation. But that wasn't the end of it.

Forgetting about the external attack over his head, right now there was a bigger problem for him, his Soul Power was slowly coming at its last straits.

If he didn't enter the Old Pouch once again, and soon at that, he would certainly lose consciousness and probably sleep here forever.

It surely wasn't a good idea to enter the Old Pouch right now, especially not knowing what kind of danger he was facing outside, and where the Old Pouch might end, but he had no other choice.

It was either that, or sure death, and it didn't take much brain to decide which one to chose at that moment, as Tianlong Yun used everything he had to enter the Old Pouch.

As soon as he entered inside there, he felt like he had escaped sure death, as he was breathing heavily for more hair, as sweat started to cover his body.

His body was like it had fallen from the bottom of the cold abyss to the depths of the incinerating hell, as he started sitting on meditation, and tried to recover his Soul Power like a hungry wolf.

This was already the 3rd or 4th time he was doing something like this for today only, but this wasn't the end of it either.

Nonetheless, he was surprised to see that each time he did something like this, as he completely emptied his tank, and then refilled it, the color of the sea became deeper, and the level seemed to rise.

This was fantastic news for him, as this showed that he was clearly making progress with his Soul Cultivation, something that he needed so much right now.

In fact, he was already on the verge of a breakthrough, on his Soul Cultivation, but his usual training method, crafting weapons, and concocting pills, didn't seem to be that effective.

So how could he not feel elated at such a discovery, as it seemed that the more he depleted his Soul Power, and reinstated it, the closer he was to his breakthrough.

In fact, this situation kind of gave him the much-needed resolve and determination to return outside as soon as possible.

With that thought in mind, he decided to have a look at the outside of the Old Pouch through his senses, even though his range was extremely limited.

He was surprised to notice that once again the outside seemed to have returned into that unusual deathly silence and that stagnant air and time.

There was no sign of those crackling, and whooshing signs anymore! Which clearly left Tianlong Yun startled and surprised.

He didn't know what was happening, but he was certain that it hadn't been his imagination running wild, there was something really weird with this place, even though he couldn't understand what.

He had clearly felt that there was something living, and full of vitality earlier, but now all that had disappeared into nothingness.

There was no sign of vitality anymore, besides the desolate trees around him. Even those only showed some faint signs of it.

This situation was extremely weird and made Tianlong Yun really curious, and cautious, but things had just started.

He had the Old Pouch in his possession, a safe place to run to when the invisible enemy prepared to attack him, and also a large number of disciples, experts, and cannon fodder he could use.

With these thoughts in mind, he slowly recovered his Soul Power, and mental fortitude, and then got out of the Old Pouch to have a more detailed look at his surroundings and the outside.

This time though he didn't come out all by himself, he had taken one of the bodies of his experimental subjects with him.

He had already nothing else he could test this guy for, and he had become useless to him, as he even had extracted all the Vampire he could out of him, and he was now just a vessel.

Since he had gone through Tianlong Yun's harsh treatment that it wasn't a big surprise for the guy to have lost his mind, and turn into a retard.

In fact, all those who had gone through his hands had truly suffered, and only then had they understood what it meant to want to die, and not be able to.

However now was not the time to think about this, as Eric was more concentrated on what was happening around him and the current situation.

Just like he had seen from inside the Old Pouch the situation seemed to have returned to that odd stagnant and silent situation, but he couldn't afford to lower his guard.

He was still surrounded by total darkness around him, as his senses had increased only around 10 centimeters more outwards him.

These were signs that his mental fortitude and Soul Power were slowly advancing, as really soon he would go through his second breakthrough.

Tying his 'companion' with a light and thin chain, he once again started walking in what he considered forwards through the forest.

All this while he would pay great attention to the surroundings and the sounds coming through the air, he couldn't allow himself to be trapped easily by whatever that thing was.

But while Tianlong Yun continued to walk the same as before, his subject seemed to be in a terrible state right now.

His eyes were slowly turning bloodshot, she was starting to use his hands to cover his ears, as he looked like he was hearing some really distasteful words.

That wasn't all, as he even started to groan, and grunt in pain, as his hands didn't cover his ears anymore, but he started to pull on his hair.

It looked like he was going to pull off his own scalp from the pain, or whatever he was going through, but at the same time, he was also covering the noises that Tianlong Yun was trying to hear.

Looking at this it didn't seem like a good idea for Tianlong Yun to take this guy with him, but he hadn't taken him out just for the company either.

Very soon his Soul Power was getting depleted once again, and he had to return inside the Old Pouch to recuperate, but this time there was a little change, as he left the subject outside.

He didn't doubt that sooner or later whoever was outside would make a move on that guy, but right now there was a more pressing matter…
