Everyone was startled hearing that painful shriek, as even Tianlong Yun was taken by surprise and wasn't able to act in time.
Seeing the success of these guys in the earlier battles had made him feel a bit overconfident in their skills and abilities and had let his guard down for a moment or two.
It was precisely at this time that a bigger, and the thicker tree had appeared in the big massive of trees, had captured one of the disciples, and had wrapped him up in just a breath of time.
It was something totally unexpected, as even the guys who were by his side were unable to act in time and give him any kind of help.
What was more important was that the presence of that big thing had just added to the pressure of the tired disciples, and the loss of one of their own made the retreat bitter.
It was their good luck that the big tree had captured only a protection reserve and not one of the people in the formation, otherwise the whole formation might fall.
While the formation would disappear immediately the loss of one link would add pressure on the other, and there was a high possibility that they would fall like dominoes.
Still, even though he saw this happen, Tianlong Yun didn't move directly to go to their help, as he was observing their reaction.
While it was a pity that he lost a good disciple, this was a perfect chance to see the other's reaction in such a situation.
He wasn't happy to lose valid strength and power, but this was an important trial of fire for them to see who truly was a diamond in the rough, and who was just a weakling.
They truly had battle experience and had blood on their hands, but until now they hadn't felt true despair, and he wanted to see how they would react to it.
He didn't care even if he lost the entire lot of them, as they were replaceable in his eyes. While it was a bit difficult to cultivate them up to this point, they were nonetheless replaceable.
It was better to lose all the garden when everything was still blooming than raising a leech that could drink your blood later.
As he was thinking like this, the disciples were in a kind of turmoil, as they were all trying to keep their cool, and bearing.
The loss of their comrade had been sudden and quick, so they hadn't seen much besides hearing that painful shriek, but that just made them raise their guard up, and don't think that the job was done.
With those thoughts in mind, the guards became more vigilant, as the group retreating slowed down their steps taking positions once again.
A lot of them just jumped immediately taking their positions whoever had a low level of Soul Power became a guard, and whoever had still remaining Soul Power enforced the formation.
But that was just hasty actions taken in a rather muddle head. They all thought of the situation in the short term, and nothing about what could happen later.
Still, there were even those who showed their foresight, and wisdom, that in place of running to take up positions, they sat up on meditation.
While that seemed like the most stupid thing to do while they were being attacked and pressurized, it was the soundest thing to do.
The formation was holding right now, and the most they should do was add a few guards, but what was truly important was to replace the people already in the formation.
While the joining of all these people would boost up the formation for a while, it would later leave them no way out, as they would be just wooden planks to be hit on.
Tianlong Yun made sure to remember the faces of each of these 54 people, as he looked at the others trying to parry off the pressure, and the attacks.
It was a piece of good news that none of them tried to run back and leave their friends in there, otherwise, Tianlong Yun would personally kill any one of them.
There was one thing that he couldn't support no matter what, betrayal! No matter what, this would always be a point-sharp corner for him, that he would never allow again.
That big tree was attacking relentlessly, as the guarding disciples were doing everything they could to parry those attacks.
They were cutting through them tirelessly, but those things grew almost instantly, and without exception, making the situation even worse for his disciples.
As if this wasn't enough, all these cut branches didn't stay on the group and pile up. No! These things would weirdly melt into some kind of liquid substance, and then would be absorbed underground.
Still, that wasn't the end of it, as Tianlong Yun could feel that there wasn't just one big tree like that, there were at least 7 or 8 others just like that one, waiting for their chance to make a clear hit by surprise.
If Tianlong Yun allowed that to happen then surely his disciples would lose this battle, and he wouldn't be able to save more than 10% of them.
He had to act quickly, as an interesting thought came to his mind. The bane of trees, or to be more precise the bane of any forest was fire.
It was time to see how these trees would react to his Nirvana Flames, as this might be a really useful weapon against them.
Deciding this, he instantly jumped towards the one that was closer to him, as a small orangish-red flame appeared on his right hand, that he started to feed with his Qi.
The flame was starting to grow stronger, as even the complexion was becoming more and more real by the second.
It felt like slowly the flame was getting a soul of its own, whose only intention was to cause havoc and destruction on its path.
Too bad that nobody had the time, or the idea to look at it right now, as they all had their hands full at the moment.
But they had no choice but to turn their heads towards him, and the spot where the flame hit that moment because they all heard,
"BOOOOMMM~!"
It felt like someone had thrown some kind of bomb towards the surroundings, as a huge flame exploded in a single instant.
It was a magnificent spectacle of lights for a moment that nobody could take its eyes off, but surely the same wasn't for the trees.
Just as that massive thing exploded, and created such a ruckus, the trees seemed to have felt some kind of critical danger, and went into a frenzy, as they attacked with all their strength towards their target.
Complemented with the fact that a lot of these guards didn't have the necessary time to react, as they were startled by the explosion, a lot of these attacks worked out, and more than 30 disciples were captured.
The next moment there were two different but anger-inducing sounds spread through the place, one was a loud wail, that seemed able to blow one's ears to pieces, while the other was the painful shrieks of the captivated disciples.
It was clear that both sounds were new variables to the battle they were having, as the wailing sent the trees into a frenzy, while the painful moans were like an alarm for the still startled students.
Tianlong Yun didn't care much about them right now, as he had more important things to consider. For example, what effects did his fire method had on these trees.
In fact, as he heard those screams he thought that he had certainly injured the group of trees in front of him, and especially that dangerous new type.
Still the results were beyond his expectations, as he had been able to destroy more than 15 small trees, as the big tree was on the verge of its death.
He didn't allow it any time to recover, as he immediately jumped once again at full speed in its direction, pulling the tree out of its group, and inside the formation.
As soon he saw that the pressure, and the light working on his prey, he immediately covered the big tree with his spirit sense, and sent it inside the Old Pouch.
That would make a really good experiment subject for Tianlong Yun, and he couldn't wait to start with that experiment.
He didn't have much time to think about it though, as there were 9 more enemies in the surroundings, that he would have to deal with personally.
Without losing any time he immediately jumped towards his second target, as another orangish-red flame ball appeared on his hand, ready to be released at any time.
As soon as it was ready, he immediately threw it towards his next target's position and appeared in front of it.
His moves were really fast, elegant, and fluent, as the next moment he was in front of his target and had captured it.
This was a clear indication of his skills and abilities, as even the disciple in the area couldn't understand what had happened at that moment.
If they hadn't seen him disappear from his place, and reappear for a moment at the center of its attack, they would most probably think it was the work of a ghost.
But that wasn't the end of it, as they almost heard, and saw the same thing for 6 or 7 times more, and each time their Patriarch would appear and disappear like a ghost.
As for Tianlong Yun, he didn't care about their opinions, he just knew that he had managed to accomplish his mission without any glitch whatsoever, as he…
