Chapter 441: At Death's Door

More than 4 long swords had cut its trunk into 5 different parts, and 3 fast hands were hunting for its root part.

The outcome was more than clear, as the big tree had no other option but to become some firewood, and its root was apprehended.

Differently from the roots of the small tree though, the moment the 'root' was taken out and it started crying, it wasn't only the noise that made them feel uncomfortable, but even their souls got unrested.

Their souls went awry for a moment, as they had a head-splitting headache for a moment. It was like someone was playing a loud screech to someone with high hearing sensitivity.

At that moment, the barrier formation around, and the lighting started fluctuating quite a bit as even the disciples that were part of the formation were affected by the soul attack.

The auras of everyone inside the formation started wavering quite a bit, as everyone seemed to be on the brink of falling down and losing consciousness.

If it continued like this, then most probably that would be a certain situation of the future, as they would not only lose the fight, and their consciousness but even their lives.

They were in the middle of a big fire, and their slightest mistake would surely lead to their demise of being burned to ashes from that surrounding fire.

At this critical moment, that everyone was doing their best to calm down, the one who had the root on his hands threw the thing high in the air, and far away from himself hoping to escape the torture.

If anyone would have seen this happen, they probably would have wanted to burn this guy in a stake due to his extreme foolishness, and idiotic decision.

But no one was able to see that, and perhaps they would never be, as the soul attack didn't stop even when the root was free of its captives' hands.

Whoever had an eye on the situation and what was happening in there would have thought that things were finished, and the first team had run out of its luck, and power.

Weirdly though as the root seemed to be still flying on air suddenly fell down on the ground, as the crying sounds, and the soul attack instantly disappeared into nothingness.

Nobody expected such a thing to happen, as everyone seemed to have forfeited their lives, expectant of their death. Who wouldn't, there didn't seem to be any hope of living through this.

As for their Patriarch, he had clearly stated that he would help no one, and even if they were at death's door he would just look at their last acts with a clear look.

He didn't care for the weak, and the presumptuous, and there was nothing they could say to make him change his mind.

They had already been taught that strength was the only real argument in this world they were living in, and they only had value as long as they were strong and alive.

Perhaps this wasn't the same for everyone, as most probably the 16 shadows or the members of his harem were different, but that was certainly true for them.

Still, even in such a hopeless situation, they had miraculously survived, but the situation was still not over with that.

In fact, they were now in front of a much difficult task to deal with, as they all had to keep their formation barrier, stopping the relentless attacks of those things outside, and make a run for their lives.

Their only consolation could be that now their lives were at the hands of each and every one of them, and not in the hands of only one of them.

To be more exact their lives were in the hands of the disciples that were in charge of the formation barrier, as they were the ones who were walling them from external danger.

Those disciples had been trying their best to stay awake, and protect their minds from the soul attack, and now they had to do their best to keep the barrier active.

It was really difficult and almost impossible to be done, but they had to make it, otherwise, their just-earned lives would be forfeited once again.

They couldn't allow such a thing to happen, so they immediately tried to recollect themselves, as best as they could, and continue keeping the formation active.

The others, were clearly in better shape than them as they didn't have to force themselves too much during the soul attack.

For that reason, they were able to better recollect their selves, and restructure their positions, and roles in the shortest time possible.

This wasn't just a few people's fights, but the whole team! They needed to work together and do their best if they wanted to have a true shot at living through this.

It was clear that those who were still keeping the formation active were more than tired, and could fall with each passing moment.

So, the first immediate short-term problem was replacing them, so they immediately created a 13-person team, that was responsible for replacing them.

The replacement was done one by one in chronological order, as all the replaced disciples would immediately fall powerless on the ground.

Their breathing was rough, and their bodies were covered in sweat, but still, they couldn't allow themselves to fall unconscious.

In order to keep themselves up, some of them even bit their tongues, as they forcibly, and with great difficulty sat in the lotus position, and started meditating to regain their lost Soul Power.

A few of them had blood trickling down their lips, and even some really white and yellow faces, clearly showing the tiredness they were going through right now.

The remaining 4 were always on their guard, trying to protect the disciples that were keeping active the formation barrier, not allowing any vine, or danger to befalls them.

As all this was going on, Tianlong Yun was looking at this scene with perfect calmness and indifference. He didn't seem to care about the result and had left everything in the disciples' abilities.

Their lives were in their own hands, and everyone had to fight for their own self. No expert was brought to life through others' hard work, but only due to their own.

Everyone had to fight with their lives on the line in order to become a truly powerful expert, only the strongest would be able to escape death and become even stronger, while the rest perished.

This was undoubtedly a necessary stage to get through in one's life, and his disciples weren't an exception to this.

In fact, he would intentionally place them in danger's way in order to give them more opportunities to mature and grow stronger.

But this put an end to these thoughts, as he had many important things to take care of. After all, his disciples weren't the only ones who were going to fight with the trees.

He couldn't expect his disciples to fight at death's door if he didn't do the same. Still, the truth remained that he had to do this in order to improve himself, and his fighting prowess.

Thinking like this, he immediately disappeared from the place where he was staying, in the middle of the light, and disappeared into the darkness.

None of his disciples was able to see him from that moment on, as Tianlong Yun started running in the near proximity of the formations taking down as many enemies as he could.

If one looked at his fight with the small trees was like a grown-ass man bullying some weak little trees, as in just one move, or two the tree would have turned to firewood, while the root killed and packed.

In less than 10 minutes everything in a 10-meter radius would have been turned into nothing more than firewood, which he didn't let rest there, but transported it inside the Old Pouch.

Probably it didn't have many uses in weapons crafting, and alchemy, but it certainly was a good replenisher of Qi and Soul Power.

Tianlong Yun had a really low opinion on Earth, and its civilization, as people were blinded from fake ideals, and stupid notions, and had forsaken the real truth.

Still, this didn't mean that anything about this place was rotten, as there still were some smart, and intelligent people.

These guys had used their limited tools, and knowledge to come up with things and laws that were common knowledge in the Immortal World.

For example, 'Nothing really disappears'! This was the most basic, and common logic of any one person that knew about the Immortal World.

What this phrase meant was that every animate, or inanimate being didn't disappear but just eventually turned into three kinds of basic energy.

Physical energy, Qi, and Soul Energy! These three were the big trio that the whole life was based upon, as even these energies had their own form of existence and use.

These wood pieces at the end of the day were a formation out of Soul Power, so he hoped that he would be able to reverse their process.

Perhaps if he speeded up their process of decomposition at some point in time they would once again return to Soul Power.

While the basic laws were common knowledge, this particular exchange was nothing short of being his theory, which had yet to be tested, but that would start really soon.

With these thoughts in mind, he just kept going at it, crushing to pieces any small tree on his path, and fighting head to head with the bigger trees for 3 to 5 minutes.

The result…
