Chapter 10:Fear and shock

Sooru led the way up the building to a small spot and he was followed by both of them. He knocked on the door of one of the flats but there was no response, even after several tries.

He hurriedly tried to knock the door down but Ye-Jin held him by the shoulder. Ray watched in amazement as she removed one of the pins from her hairs and picked the lock of that flat. Soon the door flung open and they entered it one by one carefully looking around.

Sooru went into the kitchen while Ye-Jin tried the bedroom. Meanwhile, Ray stood in the hall looking quite lost. He didn't know what was happening. While he was contemplating what he should do in the messy apartment he heard Ye-Jin's frantic voice.

Ye-Jin: Sooru, Ray in here-

He quickly marched in the direction of her voice and was soon joined by Sooru in hot pursuit. They saw Ye-Jin sitting of the floor cradling a young girl's head in her lap checking for her pulse. The girl couldn't have been more than sixteen years in age, she looked malnourished as her body was frail and pale so much that even her bones were visible. What was more shocking about it was that the girl seemed to be heavily pregnant.

Ray couldn't swallow due to shock. It was the first time that he had witnessed something like this. He was rooted to the spot in absolute shock at the scene in front of him.

Ye-Jin: (checking her vitals) She might have passed out sometime before we came obviously she's in labour right now. She couldn't have handled the pain. Sooru take the keys and start the car. Ray help me carry this girl or we won't be able to save her.

Sooru caught the keys which she tossed to him and went out the way he had come.

Here Ray's world came back into action when he grasped the hold of reality.

He soon lent a hand to Ye-Jin who was struggling to lift the girl. He lifted the girl in his own arms and turned to leave with Ye-Jin hot behind on his heels.

His mind was reeling with all kinds of questions but he decided to be quiet about it for now. Being a celebrity he knew that on-stage performance was important so right now he needed to perform and give his best.

Ye-Jin held the door open for him as he gently placed the unconscious girl on the back seat.

Ye-Jin sat beside her still cradling her head. He closed the door behind them and he took the shotgun position.

Together with the girl who was fighting for her life and death, they all drove to the nearest hospital at top speed.

Throughout the way, Ray kept glancing back at Ye-Jin who was trying hard to wake the girl up in one other the other way. For the first time in his life, he felt fear for another life. He didn't know exactly what had happened but given the environment they had just came out from it wasn't a huge feat draw a feasible conclusion. His respect for the girl who had become his friend in the short amount of time grew ten-fold.
