Chapter 50 - Squeak!

Squeak!

“You weren’t supposed to come here. What’s wrong?” the woman muttered in a desperate voice.

She was half-crying, and her legs were broken entirely as she leaned her back against a gray wall.

“Don’t say that. I have come to rescue you,” the man who appeared said.

He kept messing with the defensive coat he was still wearing, but he didn’t think the coat had already stopped working, and it wouldn’t work again.

“Why are you going through this hell!”

The woman screamed.

Because of the desperate situation, she shouted even when she cried.

She might have heard the sound of a monster, and she looked out into the small gap in the window.

Beyond that, the stems of monstrous plants were devouring every building they found.

When she didn’t seem to have noticed any coming here, she sighed with relief and grinned at the guy still here.

This wasn’t something that could be solved simply by a few high-ranking Awakeners.

The monsters appearing from the gate were going out of control.

When it appeared, there were only a few monsters, but at this moment, the entire city was filled, and the number was increasing at a tremendous speed.

Killing one brings in three, and killing two brings in a group of them.

“I was completely deceived. They only asked for more time. How are we going to give them time against these creatures?”

It was useless to wield a sword against them.

She closed the doors and windows, and she hurriedly hid inside the building—she didn’t know when they would rush inside.

It was silent, and there was a dark shadow in front of the room.

But, of course, it was only for a while, and a loud quarrel was heard outside.

Perhaps it’s the sound of her other co-workers dying.

Squeak!

A mouse jumped on top of her while her head was bowed, her hand covering it.

It was a pet rat, as it did not have an unpleasant smell.

It seemed to have come with its companions to avoid monsters.

“It’s dangerous here. You come on too,” she laughed at herself while talking to the animal.

The mouse stared at the woman’s face and shook its head as if to show that it was even able to understand her.

While the two Awakeners were curiously looking at the window, one wall broke, and something came in.

Quang!

As C-ranked veteran Awakeners, they quickly reacted and picked up the sword.

But its speed was much faster.

The intruding monsters caught both of them in an instant.

However, their bodies were not torn or crushed.

“What’s going on……?” Two confused men and women looked around.

A big bird was carrying them, and it was flying in the sky.

There were even dozens of birds carrying people as they flew in the city’s sky.

After confirming that the two Awakeners had been removed from the scene, Il-Hyun talked in the communicator.

“I’ve removed all living people here.”

—That’s good, but the plants have already eaten half of the city! You might be late for handwriting.

“There is not much time left,” Il-Hyun said as he checked his watch’s GPS.

There were monsters to deal with on time.

It was impossible to respond immediately in the initial stage, so it was unreasonable for the 5th team leader alone to deal with all of the monsters that were coming in the current situation.

Four positioned coordinates were shown.

After Il-Hyun confirmed, one of them disappeared.

Only two people were dispatched to the scene because they were busy, and Il-Hyun tried to head to another location.

Goo Goo!

Without a sign, suddenly, the floor shook.

As he stepped close to the center where the gate appeared, the places he stepped on became large stems.

And in all kinds of places, a myriad of different creatures stood up.

Kiek!

Sharp cries, and thorny stems poured all over him.

However, Il-Hyun struck the stems flying without any effort with his sword.

From the sharply cut skin of the monsters, green body fluids spouted everywhere.

However, Il-Hyun summoned the Phoenix right away without any thought of continuing the fight and soared into the sky.

When he saw any, he had no intention of dealing with monsters who are increasing several times faster at the same time.

He looks downward, and as the altitude increased, the city was covered with a green light.

Plants multiplied at the edges quickly, expanding their range.

Il-Hyun, who quickly descended to the ground, landed on the floor and canceled the summon.

He looked around.

Here too, the stems had covered everything, but they weren’t rushing and were less toxic and quieter compared to other places.

However, Il-Hyun glanced and saw the Ether flowing underneath them—he raised his sword and smashed down.

Swish-Bang!

His feet fluctuated as if the entire terrain he was on was moving.

The stalks got smashed away until several buildings that were covered by the plants.

The mass of vines that revealed itself shook like a living heart.

In addition, other monsters appeared and encircled the heart that was violently beating in the restless body.

The monsters were crowding from all sides to protect it.

However, no matter how many vines there is, one attack was enough for Il-Hyun to kill it.

A little wolf shook its head in his arms.

* * *

Kung!

An explosion occurred, it was glaring even from a distance.

“There is only one left,” Lee Tae-hee said. She confirmed that one goal was erased through the hologram of the watch on her right wrist.

Her sleek hair and 19-year-old fresh appearance didn’t go well with the scene of the bloody ruins.

Of course, unlike others, she was in the spotlight as the world’s best prospect and was a member of Team C, and she even temporarily sent support to Team A, which lacked manpower in many ways.

She didn’t expect that the time they had gone to be the third week already.

As evidence of her promising skills, the bodies of the monsters were severely cut up, it had become hard to recognize their original shape.

Then, in a pile of corpses, the stem of a monster plant stretched out, aiming behind her.

They were all dying with the wounds on their bodies, but they wanted to see human blood until the last minute.

However, a glowing lump of flame appeared and intervened in the middle, and both stretched stems and a few remaining bodies were burnt.

“Thanks,” Lee Tae-hee smiled and looked up.

Above her was a brightly burning phoenix.

Since the site was plant-filled all over the place, the flame-based attack worked effectively. Il-Hyun was her savior.

When Lee Tae-hee ran, Phoenix also followed her.

The last goal remained a short distance away.

On the way, the floor wobbled, and monsters appeared and blocked the road, but they jumped over them lightly and cut them down to maintain speed.

“I found a way……!” Lee Tae-hee paused and stared blankly in front of her.

The stalks of snarling monsters gathered to form a giant dome.

This wasn’t an A level threat.

To protect the last remaining target, the monsters have gathered in large amounts.

Her feet shook as she stared at the view in front of her—the monsters were rushing at her.

It would not matter if that’s was all, but at the same time, numerous stems that can not be counted have stretched out in a massive mass that is clustered into a dome.

“Haaa!” Lee Tae-hee pulled the sword inside her arms and concentrated her mind.

Ji-ing!

A small wave spread around her, and the world quickly turned gray.

Everything slowed down.

From flying vines to falling flower pots and cracking walls.

Amid a world where everything flowed slowly, Lee Tae-hee remained the same and swung her sword vigorously.

Time acceleration—it was one of her two powers.

It was the ability to be classified as the best among the rank A talents.

It was her own power!

All the stalks were cut off without a hitch, and the monsters that had stood up fell down again and split into several pieces that covered the floor.

But she stopped there.

It was difficult to kill the enormous mass of the monster that filled everything as far as the eyes could see.

“What should I do……?”

She has to deal with it as soon as possible, but it would have taken too long to process it in the usual way.

There was no end to removing the lumped monsters one by one without knowing where the target was located.

“Tae-hee!”

“Huh?”

Lee Tae-hee looked up toward the voice.

A familiar transport plane was approaching her way.

And there was someone inside—he was reaching his hand out the door.

“Brother? How did you get there?” Embarrassed, Lee Tae-hee pointed to the lump of plants.

She was glad that he showed up in a situation where she needed help, but he was on the plane to see if she was going to leave her work fast.

“Once you get on……! I’ll tell you!”

As the plane descended and approached her, Il-Hyun reached out.

Lee Tae-hee, who didn’t know English before the scene can be prevented, climbed up with his hand’s support.

Initially, when this type of monster was present, it was a suicidal attempt to fly low in an aircraft, but Phoenix protected from all the creeping vines.

The plane flew up with Phoenix whirling around.

“What are you going to do about the mission?”

“Wait a minute…. The goal is done. Start bombing.”

-Yes, confirmed.

Il-Hyun contacted the backup team that was on standby, and immediate response was heard.

“You still have one left? Then, the bomb won’t work because of the shield……”

Lee Tae-hee was surprised at his words.

But soon she could see something strange happening through the open door.

Plants that had been tightly slumped fell apart.

When they all fell out, for some reason, there was a dead target among a pile of vines.

And dozens of bombers, as if waiting, appeared in the sky.

Survivors were evacuated, and the plane was sufficiently raised high.

Bombs fell.

Quang!

The diffusion bombs using Ether spat out lots of smoke before they hit the ground, and explosions and sparks devoured everything on the ground.

The remaining D-rank base monsters didn’t survive the violent explosion.

The colorful fireworks that swallowed the little town filled her eyes.

No matter where you go, even if they give you tens of billions of dollars, you will never see this sight all your life.

And then—

In the explosion, the mouse flew over the sparrow.

Lee Tae-hee figured out the identity of the hero who knocked down the target all alone.

“Ahaha, that is cool!”

“Well done.”

Squeak!
