Qie Ranzhe couldn't fathom why such a beautiful person would like him so much despite having met a handful of times. To be honest, he wouldn't have believed Zhao Zhi genuinely liked him if the man hadn't confessed in his sleep and shown it in his strange illusion.
His thoughts veered off-road thinking about what Zhao Zhi said before they did this and that to each other. Zhao Zhi had said he loved him through four lifetimes but none of it made sense. When one dies their soul would be served soup by the goddess of forgetfulness on the bridge of forgetfulness before they enter the next cycle of reincarnation so how could Zhao Zhi remember his past life.
Did this have anything to do with the voice inside Zhao Zhi's head? And why did the voice refer to him as boss one? This line of thought didn't go far though because the door was suddenly kicked open and in came Qie Xieling running into the room before crawling into bed right in the middle.
"Argh Lin Lin," complained Wen Qinxi who had just been woken up by his son pressing on his chest. His body still ached a little from overindulgence. Yes, there is such a thing as too much fun.
Qie Xieling bundled into the quilt completely disregarding his father's words. "There are fuckin monks outside the barrier.... and one of them called me a beast," mumbled Qie Xieling still hiding underneath the quilt.
Wen Qinxi and Qie Ranzhe exchanged glances before they abruptly got off the bed. "You stay here," said Wen Qinxi while Qie Ranzhe dressed him in a robe he had picked out earlier.
Qie Xieling nodded his head under the quilt while his fathers left the room. Wen Qinxi unsheathed magic frost and was about to ride to the gate of the Qie sect when Qie Ranzhe stopped him.
"Wait," he said pointing at the visible hickeys on his partially exposed collarbone. Wen Qinxi didn't protest watching Qie Ranzhe fix his robe. Qie Ranzhe's care and compassion towards him was exactly why Wen Qinxi fell head over heels for this man. How could he resist such a charming man? It's impossible.
As soon as Qie Ranzhe finished hiding away the evidence of last night's escapades he raised his head only to be kissed by Zhao Zhi. It wasn't a smutty kiss but neither was it innocent. Qie Ranzhe could feel the warmth and love accompanying that kiss. It was the kind of kiss you wouldn't want to end but to his disappointment, Zhao Zhi parted from him before leaping into the sky.
"I will kiss you however long you want when we get back," he said after noticing the dejected look in Qie Ranzhe's eyes.
The sect leader licked his tingling lip before following after Zhao Zhi. He didn't understand why he felt so disappointed when Zhao Zhi ended the kiss early. Thinking this wasn't time to think about such things, Qie Ranzhe put the thought at the back of his mind and focused on the task at hand.
When they reached the gate they found a small group of disciples, Shao Lan, Machu and Dai Yu standing there while arguing with a group of bald monks. Well, to be exact it was Dai Yu hauling insults at them.
This group of bald donkeys had caused a raucous in the morning asking to see the sect leader. But the group of disciples wouldn't let them in without Qie Ranzhe's permission. Besides, they couldn't open the barrier even if they wanted to let them in. This meant they had to wait for Qie Ranzhe's approval.
The monks would have respected the sect's rules and wait but Qie Xieling happened to pass by with his aunt heading towards the duelling arena. From then on things escalated with the head Taoist priest attacking the barrier intending to strike Qie Xieling.
He had let Qie Xieling go as an infant because he planned to let the yao who birthed him find him first. When that happens he would be able to kill this abomination that could bring down the entire world. And now that the yao had awakened he knew exactly where it was.
This is why he attacked Qie Xieling because he was no longer needed. But who would have thought the barrier set up by the Qie sect leader was impenetrable. Qie Ranzhe was indeed worthy of his reputation.
This disrespectful act angered Dai Yu which led to a war on words. "Why don't you come out so we can fight it out," said the Taoist priest trying to bait Dai Yu into opening the barrier.
Dai Yu scoffed with her hand on her waist before saying, "You must think I am stupid, don't you? Well, too bad I am not fuckin buying it."
"That's rather unfortunate," said the monk sighing in disappointment. "How about you scar face. Don't you want to defend your friend's honour and fight me? The scar face he was referring to was Shao Lan who seemed the least bit amused by his words.
Shao Lan ignored him but remained vigilant watching him. "Hmm, I sense demonic Qi hovering in the area..... it seems your sect had a little run-in with a demon recently," said the antagonistic Taoist priest, "let me guess that demon was here for a certain someone, am I right?"
Machu sighed deeply and said, "You and your bald donkeys aren't welcome here so piss off!" He didn't even wait for Qie Ranzhe's orders because he knew this is exactly what Qie Ranzhe would want.
He didn't know why the demon had broken into the Qie sect but he knew it had something to do with Zhao Zhi and that Zhao Zhi was important to his sect leader. The rest didn't matter because he trusted Qie Ranzhe.
"Wait, don't be so eager to be rid of me yet. Haven't you ever wondered why a supreme demon king would send his minion all the way here? Don't you know that was the first of plenty of attacks to come?" he asked trying to sow discord among the Qie disciples.
"I promise if you hand him over to me, your sect won't have such incidences happening ever again," explained the Taoist priest but he found he couldn't go on anymore having sensed Zhao Zhi's unique Qi.
A sly smile appeared on his face saying, "This is going to be fun," while facing the direction in which Zhao Zhi was coming from.
Faced with the two powerful figures, the Taoist priest couldn't help but frown. Something was different about Qie Ranzhe and it was nothing good for the priest of course. These two had engaged in obscene acts and Qie Ranzhe had increased his cultivation rank at a speed faster than regular cultivators from the last time they met.
It seemed to get to the yao and rid this world of evil he had to go through this sect leader.
