"I am taken," said Qie Ranzhe as he flung that wrist away like he was afraid he would dirty his hands if he continued touching him. When Zhao Zhi looked at him like that it was like a wave of excitement would spread all over his body but when this vile demon eyed him he felt disgusted to the point where he could barely hold his expression.
Miyu Ren obviously noticed but he wasn't offended chuckling again as he tucked away a stray strand behind his ear. This was the exact moment Machu had his 'ohhh' moment. His brother in arms had charmed a demon in a matter of seconds which was impressive.
"What are you waiting for? Haven't you come up with a solution yet on how to break the barrier or at least go around it?" asked Dai Yu after making sure Shao Lan's wound was properly wrapped up.
"Huh?....," asked Machu as he turned his head around seeming lost, "Oh, I don't think that's necessary. The only problem is that Zhao Zhi might be wearing a green hat today," while pointing at the two. "See what I mean?"
"What a pity..... but I do know what you are looking for and I can help you," said the demon king his eyes colder than before.
Qie Ranzhe's aura darkened further clenching his jaw. He knew everything came at a price but based on this vile thing's reaction earlier it wouldn't be anything good. "What's the price?"
Miyu Ren smiled while nodding his head. He expected as much. "What if I say no charge for the sake of our future dealings? Let's call it a gesture of goodwill as long as you turn a blind eye to my dealings with the Lord of the seas. You get what you want and I get what I want and we don't interfere in each other's business."
Qie Ranzhe knew it couldn't be as simple as that but right now he had no choice so he said, "Fine then take me to him."
"Mhm, no one is as blind as a man in love," said Miyu Ren before walking towards Qie Anzhie. He stretched out his hand and picked up his dejected follower. He whispered something in Qie Anzhie's ear.
Qie Anzhie turned to look at his half brother his stare much more vicious than before but all he could do was clench his fist suppressing his rage. This older brother of his had stolen everything from him including the yao promised to him by his master.
Just now the demon king had revealed that Qie Ranzhe had slept with Zhao Zhi and that kid Qie Xieling was theirs. He also told him that it was pointless being angry and that he wasn't allowed to stir trouble with Qie Ranzhe because the demon king had an even greater use for him. This meant Qie Anzhie could only glare but not touch.
Zhao Zhi was the first heir of the Lord of the seas which meant he inherited the purest of his spiritual root. There was tremendous power to be gained from the merman's first time but his despicable older brother stole what belonged to him two decades ago.
So when he was busy running around with the Zhao sect leader to keep Zhao Zhi pure he had already been eaten by his older brother. He had been played like a fool by the both of them and now he had nowhere to vent out his pent up anger.
While Qie Anzhie was thinking of his brother's betrayal, Miyu Ren was done drawing an array with his blood opening the gate to a place that held traumatic memories to Qie Ranzhe.
Miyu Ren turned to look at Qie Ranzhe and noticed his face was a few shades paler. Fascinated he said, "Let's go... I will hold your hand so you won't be scared."
Qie Ranzhe ignored the sly demon and sent a communication talisman to Machu before following behind Qie Anzhie into the portal. Miyu Ren stared at Qie Ranzhe's three musketeers with a devilish smile before entering the portal.
As soon as the three people vanished, the barrier disappeared as well allowing the remaining three to grab hold of the talisman. "I am going to get Zhao Zhi and Qie Xieling," it said reassuring the them. They sighed in relief with Dai Yu snorting at that demon.
"What a fuckin white lotus.... and what was up with that smirk? Like, wha-what tha.....," she said as the ground opened up letting out those creatures once more.
It seemed the demon king had only taken a liking to Qie Ranzhe and not the rest of them. So as soon as their sect leader was gone they were left to deal with the mess resurrected by that sinister demon.
"I really hate that white-eyed wolf!" yelled Dai Yu as she ruthlessly swung her whip tearing through the crowd of the undead.
Machu nudged Shao Lan urging him to come closer. With their backs turned to each other fighting the creatures, Machu said, "You better reconsider your decision to get with her. Imagine how many ways she can torment you in bed with that whip?.... Seriously, take this as friendly advice."
Machu was being a good friend but Shao Lan's reaction had him asking himself why he even bothered mentioning anything. This fool was obviously a masochist smiling like an idiot. He couldn't understand why Shao Lan had a sudden interest in Dai Yu but it was incredibly unsettling especially because he would be the only single dog among the four of them.
It was at that moment that Dai Yu snapped the neck of a decomposed undead spiritual beast with her whip making Machu cringe. "See?" he said with goosebumps all over his body.
"More fighting and less chit chat," replied Shao Lan before creating a path through the crowd of the undead creatures. He awkwardly stood a few feet from Dai Yu watching her back in silence.
Machu, "...."
Talk about abusing a single dog in broad daylight. He vowed to find a girlfriend too after this otherwise Qie Xieling will beat him to it and he would officially become an old bachelor.
While Machu was on a dog food strict diet, Wen Qinxi had earned the title of the lightbulb of the year. He was like a third wheel in this palace with the queen and Qie Xieling sticking to each other like glue. It was times like these that he missed Qie Ranzhe the most. It was like being stuck on lockdown with no internet, no TV and pig roommates who always play games for two.
Qie Xieling would occasionally include his father but his grandma would rope him back in subconsciously.
Their characters complimented each other so much that it was hard to separate them. This drove him into trying to come up with a way out otherwise he will go nuts. Lucky for him, Qie Ranzhe was on his way to get him out though the likelihood of success was on the negative side.
